Claims (9)
- 剛性を改善するように構成された外径Dのエンドミルであって、
工作機械によって把持される本体部分と、複数の溝に隣接する切削刃を形成するように機械加工された前記複数の溝を有する切削部分とを備え、
各刃の後部は、切削端部から始まる短い外周逃げ部と、より長くされた弓型の刃支持部とを有し、前記より長くされた弓型の刃支持部は、前記外周逃げ部に隣接し、前記より長くされた刃支持部と前記溝との間に形成された角部に終わり、前記角部は、前記外径Dから距離Cだけ離間し、値Cは0から0.20Dの範囲であり、
前記エンドミルは、前記角部を前記より長くされた弓型の刃支持部より前記外径Dに近くすることにより該角部の方に向かって増加された曲げ耐性を有し、この増加された曲げ特性は切削時の前記エンドミルの曲げを減少させて機械加工される表面の仕上げを改善する、エンドミル。 - 前記角部が機械加工される表面を艶出しする作用をする、請求項1に記載のエンドミル。
- 前記エンドミルはボールノーズエンドミルであり、軟質金属を機械加工するように構成され、前記値Cが約0.06D以下である、請求項1または2に記載のエンドミル。
- 前記値Cは約0.03Dである、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載のエンドミル。
- 非鉄材料およびプラスチックのフライス削りのために構成された、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のエンドミル。
- 切削加工の容易な真鍮が100の機械加工性の評価、316ステンレス鋼が10の評価を有する尺度で、40未満の機械加工性の評価を有する金属の粗加工の用途のために構成された、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載のエンドミル。
- 短い凹状の移行丸み部または面取り部が、前記外周逃げ部を前記より長くされた弓型の刃支持部につなぐ、請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載のエンドミル。
- 前記より長くされた弓型の刃支持部が前記外周逃げ部に隣接する部分は、前記角部より前記外径Dから離れている、請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載のエンドミル。
- 前記より長くされた弓型の刃支持部と前記外径Dとの間の距離は、前記より長くされた弓型の刃支持部が前記外周逃げ部に隣接する部分から前記角部まで連続的に減少する、請求項8に記載のエンドミル。
