Description
The present invention relates to a method for encapsulating a liquid head saved in images forming apparatus, a transport and storage method of the image forming apparatus.
As an image forming apparatus such as a printer, a facsimile machine, a copying machine, or a multifunction machine of these, for example, a liquid (e.g., a liquid ejecting apparatus) including a recording head composed of a liquid ejecting head for ejecting liquid droplets of a recording liquid (liquid) is used. Hereinafter, although it is also referred to as “paper”, the material is not limited, and a recording medium as a liquid (hereinafter, referred to as “recording medium”, “recording medium”, “transfer material”, “recording paper” and the like is also used synonymously). In some cases, ink is attached to a sheet to form an image (recording, printing, printing, and printing are also used in synonyms).
The image forming apparatus means an apparatus for forming an image by discharging a liquid onto a medium such as paper, thread, fiber, fabric, leather, metal, plastic, glass, wood, ceramics, etc. The term “not only” means not only giving an image having a meaning such as a character or a figure to a medium but also giving an image having no meaning such as a pattern to the medium. Further, the liquid is not limited to the recording liquid and ink, and is not particularly limited as long as it is a liquid capable of forming an image. Further, the liquid discharge device means a device that discharges liquid from the liquid discharge head.
In an image forming apparatus that includes such a liquid ejection device and forms an image, a head tank (also referred to as a sub tank or a buffer tank) that is a small-capacity liquid container that supplies ink to a recording head on a carriage. An installed or large capacity main cartridge (main tank) is installed on the apparatus main body side, and the head tank is replenished and supplied with ink from the main cartridge on the apparatus main body side. There is known an apparatus in which an ink cartridge is mounted.
Here, when various image forming apparatuses are transported to the user or the like, the recording head is transported in an empty state in which nothing is filled in the recording head as described in
Of the above-described conventional techniques, when the storage solution is not put inside the recording head, the storage solution does not leak during transportation or storage, but the storage solution is not filled, Is not wet, and if you try to fill with ink in order to eject ink from the liquid ejection head after transportation or storage, the gas must be replaced with liquid, and bubbles cannot be completely replaced inside the head. Is likely to remain (poor initial filling properties), and the remaining bubbles cause a liquid discharge failure (injection bending or inability to discharge).
In contrast, when the image forming apparatus is transported or stored with a preservative solution in the recording head, the initial ink filling property is improved. The storage solution inside the recording head may leak due to changes in the environment such as pressure. When the storage liquid leaks, there are problems that the wettability of the recording head is lowered, and that the peripheral electrical system portion may be short-circuited by the leaked liquid.
In this case, if it is considered to completely replace the gas and the liquid, it may be possible to remove the bubbles by filling the storage solution after transportation or storage and then replacing the ink with the ink. It takes time to make the printable state, and further, the storage liquid is thrown away in the waste liquid tank to make the printable state, so that the life of the waste liquid tank is shortened.
Therefore, as described in
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, is low-cost, reduces the risk of storage liquid leakage from the recording head during transportation and storage, and reduces the risk of ink after transportation and storage. The object is to maintain good initial filling properties.
In order to solve the above-described problems, a method for enclosing a head storage liquid in an image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes a liquid ejection head having a nozzle for ejecting liquid droplets, and an opening of a nozzle disposed above the recording head. A recording head unit having an opening with an opening area smaller than the area, and a maintenance recovery mechanism for sucking the liquid in the head from the nozzles of the liquid ejection head, and filling the recording head unit with a storage liquid Then, when the meniscus holding force of the storage liquid formed in the nozzle opening is Pb, the meniscus holding force of the storage liquid formed in the opening of the member is Pu, and the suction force by the maintenance recovery mechanism is P , While maintaining the relationship of Pb ≦ P ≦ Pu, the maintenance liquid recovery mechanism sucks the storage liquid filled in the recording head unit from the nozzle and opens the nozzle. And the opening of the member is obtained by a structure to enclose the storage liquid in a state that the meniscus of the stored liquid is formed.
The method for transporting and storing the image forming apparatus according to the present invention is configured to transport and store the image forming apparatus by enclosing the storage solution body by the method for enclosing the head preserving liquid according to the present invention.
According to the method of enclosing the head storage liquid in the image forming apparatus according to the present invention, the storage liquid filled in the recording head unit is sucked from the nozzle by the maintenance and recovery mechanism, and the nozzle opening and the opening area are smaller than the nozzle. Since the storage liquid is sealed in a state where the meniscus of the storage liquid is formed in the opening of the member, the meniscus of the storage liquid is placed in the opening of the nozzle and the opening of the member having a smaller opening area than the nozzle with a simple configuration. It can be in a formed state.
According to transportation and storage method of the image forming apparatus according to the engagement Ru invention to present invention, since the sealed storage liquid in the process of encapsulating the liquid head preservation according to the present invention, with a simple configuration, the opening of the nozzle and The storage liquid meniscus is formed in the opening of the member having a smaller opening area than the nozzle, and can be used for transportation and storage.

82a、82b(区別しないときは「キャップ82」という。)

In addition, the

An embodiment of the present invention applied to such an image forming apparatus will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 7 is an explanatory diagram schematically showing a recording head unit in the apparatus.
The recording head unit 200 is configured by integrating a
The
The
Here, when the image forming apparatus and the recording head unit 200 are transported and stored, as shown in the schematic explanatory view of FIG. The
In this manner, recording is performed in a state where the

As shown in FIG. 10, when the recording head unit 200 is transported and stored, the upper surface (the upper surface of the head tank 35), the lower surface (nozzle surface), the left side surface, and the right side when the recording head unit 200 is viewed as a six-sided cuboid. Liquid leakage was confirmed with respect to the form in which the surface, the front side surface, and the rear side surface were each a top surface. When the top surface is the upper surface (the upper surface of the head tank 35), the bottom surface is the lower surface (nozzle surface).
Confirmation of the liquid leakage was carried out by transportation (storage), and a test was conducted according to a vibration test method and a drop test method standardized in JIS: Z0202, JIS: Z0232, JIS: Z0202. The results are shown in Table 1. In Table 1, ◯ indicates no liquid leakage, and x indicates occurrence of liquid leakage.

After transporting (after storage), the operation of replacing the storage liquid with ink is performed. After the replacement with ink, the state of droplet discharge from the
From the results shown in Table 1, liquid leakage occurred depending on how the storage liquid remained (Comparative Examples 3 and 4) was tilted. On the other hand, in the example in which the meniscus was formed, basically no liquid leakage occurred. However, when transported in an upside down configuration (a configuration in which the nozzle surface is the top surface and the top surface of the
Next, from the results shown in Table 2, in the comparative example 1 in which no preserving liquid was added, nozzle omission and ejection failure occurred most frequently, and in the comparative example 2 in which the existing liquid was kept in the
From these results, it can be seen that the example has less liquid leakage than the comparative examples 3 and 4, and the ink filling property is better than the comparative examples 1 and 2.
As described above, when the recording head unit or the image forming apparatus equipped with the recording head unit is transported and stored, the recording head unit has a meniscus formed in the opening of the nozzle and the opening of the member having an opening area smaller than the nozzle. Reduces the risk of storage liquid leaking from the nozzle without using a special member such as a sealing member by transporting and storing the storage liquid in a state where the storage liquid is sealed inside In addition, since the storage liquid is sealed, the initial filling property is improved. Further, the time until the image forming apparatus can be used can be shortened.
In addition, a recording head unit configuration in which a recording head including a liquid discharge head is combined with a head tank can increase the capacity of the storage liquid.
Next, a method of forming the
First, the meniscus holding force of the
For example, referring to FIG. 11, when the meniscus holding force Pu of the
At this time, if the meniscus holding force of the upper surface (filter 115) of the storage liquid is Pu and the meniscus holding force of the lower surface (nozzle 2111) is Pb, it is drawn with a negative pressure larger than the meniscus holding force Pb of the lower surface. Pb ≦ P holds true. After that, when the suction is repeatedly performed, as shown by the solid line in FIG. 12, the negative pressure does not fluctuate. At this stage, the
By performing such head suction, the
An example of the suction process for forming the meniscus will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. 13. First, “K” is reset (K ← 0), suction from the
In this way, the storage liquid filled in the recording head unit is sucked from the nozzle by the maintenance and recovery mechanism, and the meniscus of the storage liquid is formed in the opening of the nozzle and the member having an opening area smaller than the nozzle. By preserving the storage liquid in a state, the storage liquid meniscus can be easily formed in the opening of the nozzle and the opening of the member having a smaller opening area than the nozzle by using the maintenance and recovery mechanism of the apparatus. Can do.
In the above embodiment, the configuration of the recording head unit including the head tank has been described. However, the configuration is not limited to this, and a recording head unit configuration in which a filter member is attached to the recording head may be employed. A member having an opening with an opening cross-sectional area smaller than that of the nozzle is not limited to the filter member. Furthermore, when using a head tank, it can also be set as the structure which arrange | positions the member which has an opening of the opening cross-sectional area smaller than a nozzle inside the head tank.
The image forming apparatus according to the present invention is not limited to a printer having a single function configuration, and may be an image forming apparatus having a combined function such as a printer / facsimile / copying. It may be applied to a forming apparatus. The configuration of the liquid container is not limited to the above embodiment.
