【0001】

Next, NO in this embodimentXThe control of the generation amount to the target value will be described. As will be described later, in this embodiment, the engine NO.XEstimate the production amount, and this estimated NOXNO generatedXNO to be equal to the target production amountXControl the amount of production. Therefore, in the following explanation, NOXControl the amount of production to the target value as “NOXThis is called “feedback control”.
[0033]
First, NO of this embodimentXThe generation amount estimation will be described. In this embodiment, NO in combustionXFor example, a known combustion model such as an extended ZELDOVICH mechanism is used for the estimation of the generation amount. NO in combustionXThe amount of produced is generally a function of the combustion temperature and the mixture concentration. Combustion models such as the extended Zeldovitch mechanism are the NO generated by combustion by inputting the combustion temperature and the mixture concentration.XThe concentration is calculated.
Therefore, NO using a combustion model such as an enlarged Zeldovic mechanism.XIn order to estimate the generation amount (concentration), it is necessary to know the combustion temperature and mixture concentration in combustion.
[0034]
In the present embodiment, based on the pressure change in the cylinder in one combustion cycle detected by the in-
That is, when the in-cylinder pressure and the change characteristics in the combustion cycle are known, the heat generation rate in the combustion cycle in the cylinder is obtained from these. The heat release rate indicates how much combustion is occurring at which timing of the combustion cycle. Therefore, the combustion temperature can be obtained using the heat generation rate and the mixture composition (oxygen concentration) during combustion.
[0035]
On the other hand, the air-fuel mixture concentration can be calculated from the oxygen concentration in the intake air and the distribution of the fuel injected into the cylinder. The in-cylinder fuel distribution is determined by fuel injection parameters such as fuel injection timing and injection amount, and design parameters (injection pattern, etc.) of the fuel injection valve.
Therefore, by using the in-cylinder pressure detected by the in-cylinder pressure sensor, the intake oxygen concentration detected by the oxygen concentration sensor, and the fuel injection parameters as input information, NOXProduction amount (or NOX(Concentration) can be estimated.
[0036]
In the present embodiment, the NO calculated as described above.XNO is determined from the engine operating stateXNO to be equal to the target value of productionXThe amount of generation is feedback controlled. Where NOXThe target value of the generation amount is the lowest NO in the range where fuel consumption and output torque do not deteriorate under the current engine operating condition.XIt is set as an amount (lower limit).
Generally NOXIt is known that there is a correlation between the amount of change in the generated amount and the amount of change in the intake oxygen concentration. For this reason, the current NO determined by the aboveXTarget NO determined based on the generation amount (estimated value) and engine operating conditionXBy using the above correlation based on the deviation from the production amount, it is possible to change the current inspiratory oxygen concentration by NO.XWhether the generated amount matches the target value, that is, the deviation between the current intake oxygen concentration and the target intake oxygen concentration is obtained.

In this way, the in-cylinder mixture concentration is calculated using the in-cylinder fuel distribution calculated using the actual fuel injection parameters, and NO is calculated based on the mixture concentration.XBy estimating the amount produced, NOXIt is possible to accurately estimate the amount of production, and more accurate NO compared to the embodiment of FIGS.XIt is possible to manage the generation amount.
[0052]
Next, using FIG.XAnother embodiment of feedback control will be described. In the embodiment of FIG. 4 described above, the fuel injection parameter set based on the actual engine operating state is used as the fuel injection parameter used when calculating the in-cylinder mixture concentration. On the other hand, the present embodiment is different in that so-called torque demand control is performed in which the fuel injection parameter of the engine is set based on the engine output torque request of the vehicle driver. In torque demand control, the engine output torque requested by the driver is estimated based on information related to the vehicle operation of the driver (for example, accelerator opening, transmission shift position, steering angle (steering angle), etc.), and this engine The engine fuel injection parameters necessary to obtain the output torque are set. In the torque demand control of the present embodiment, for example, to obtain this engine output torque using an engine response model (more precisely, an inverse response model) based on an estimated value of the engine output torque requested by the driver. Although the required fuel injection parameter is determined, it is also possible to estimate the driver's required output torque and set the fuel injection parameter based on this required output torque by other known methods.
[0053]
FIG. 5 shows the NO of this embodiment.XIt is a flowchart explaining feedback control. The operation of each step of FIG. 5 is that the fuel injection parameter is determined by the driver's output torque request (torque demand) at
[0054]
Next, using FIG.XAnother embodiment of feedback control will be described. In the present embodiment, the fuel injection parameter and the NO.XA generation amount target value is set. NOXGeneration target value and NOXThe deviation from the estimated production amount is converted into the intake oxygen concentration deviation, and the intake system control elements such as the
[0055]
However, in this embodiment, the fuel injection parameter set by the torque demand is set to NO.XThe point which correct | amends according to a production | generation amount deviation is different from embodiment of FIG.
As mentioned above, the engine NOXThe generation amount, the engine output torque, and the fuel consumption are in a trade-off relationship with each other. Therefore, if the fuel injection parameter is set by torque demand control based only on the driver's engine output torque request, the in-cylinder fuel injection distribution is not necessarily NO.XIt is not set to reduce the generation amount. For this reason, if the engine is operated with the fuel injection parameters set by the torque demand, NOXThe deviation between the generated amount and the target value becomes a large value, and the intake oxygen concentration deviation also increases accordingly. For this reason, the amount of operation of the intake system control elements such as the EGR valve for making the intake oxygen concentration deviation zero becomes large.XThere are cases where the amount of production cannot be reduced sufficiently.
[0056]
On the other hand, regardless of the torque demand control, for example, as in the control of FIGS.XIf the fuel injection parameter is set so that the generation amount is reduced, when a large output torque is required, for example, when sudden acceleration is required, a sufficient output torque may not be obtained, which may be contrary to the driver's request. Arise.
Therefore, in the present embodiment, the fuel injection parameter calculated based on the torque demand is determined according to the degree of the driver's output torque request.XThe above problem is solved by correcting the generation amount deviation to be zero.
[0057]
NO of the institutionXSince the production amount and the engine output are in a trade-off relationship, there are cases where it is impossible to completely satisfy both requirements. However, considering the driving situation (degree of driver's output torque request), NOXIt is possible to satisfy both requirements to some extent by determining in advance which of the generation amount and the engine output torque is to be prioritized.
For example, in the present embodiment, in the case of sudden acceleration of the vehicle (that is, when the driver's engine output torque request is very large), the output torque is prioritized and somewhat NO.XEven if the generation amount increases, the fuel injection parameter is set so that the engine output torque increases. That is, in this case, the NO generated by the fuel injection parameter set by the torque demandXEven if the generation amount is relatively far from the target value, the fuel injection parameter is not corrected.
[0058]
On the other hand, when the driver's output torque requirement is relatively low, such as during steady operation, NOXPriority is given to the demand for the generation amount, and the fuel injection parameter set by the torque demand is set to NO.XCorrection is made in accordance with the deviation between the generation amount and the target value, and the fuel injection parameter is corrected so that the deviation approaches zero. In this case, NOXThe correction amount of the fuel injection parameter increases as the deviation between the generation amount and the target value increases.
Thus, in this embodiment, NOXBy setting the fuel injection parameters in consideration of both the demand for the generated amount and the driver's request for the engine output torque, NO is satisfied while satisfying the driver's output torque request as much as possible.XThe so-called engine output and NO that make the generated amount close to the target valueXIt becomes possible to perform cooperative control with the generation amount.
