Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus that visualizes a harmonic component (also referred to as a harmonic component or a nonlinear component) derived from nonlinear waveform propagation of a biological tissue or nonlinear vibration of a contrast agent (microbubble).
[0002]
[Prior art]
By extracting and visualizing harmonic components that are integral multiples of the fundamental frequency generated by nonlinear tissue propagation or contrast agent nonlinear vibration, high resolution images with very low artifacts can be obtained. It is well known that it can be generated.
[0003]
A typical method for extracting the harmonic component from the received signal is the filter method, but a method that removes the fundamental component and extracts the harmonic component more effectively than that is co-authored by Toru Atoru and Tomio Kamakura. Nonlinear propagation of ultrasonic pulses "(Science Technique, US89-23, p53). This is a so-called pulse inversion method in which two types of ultrasonic pulses that are phase-inverted with respect to the same ultrasonic scanning line are alternately transmitted, and two types of received signals corresponding thereto are added. In addition, it cancels out the fundamental wave component, which makes it possible to remove the fundamental wave component that has entered the harmonic band, which can never be removed by the filter method. It is a very useful way of exerting its effect.
[0004]
As a method developed for the same purpose, “Finite Amplitude Distortion Based Inhomogeneous Pulse Echo Ultrasonic Imaging” (IEEE UFFC vol.44 No.1 January 1997) by Ted Christopher describes the difference in amplitude for the same ultrasonic scan line. An amplitude change method is described in which two types of ultrasonic pulses to be transmitted are alternately transmitted, and two types of received signals corresponding thereto are subjected to gain correction and subtracted.
[0005]
The removal performance of the fundamental component and the enhancement performance of the harmonic component of the above two methods are theoretically very effective, but have clinical problems.
[0006]
In either method, ultrasonic pulses are repeatedly transmitted to the same ultrasonic scanning line several times, and the living tissue is not fixed between these transmissions. There is movement. Due to the movement of the tissue, the fluctuation component remains after addition or subtraction.
[0007]
This residual fundamental wave component significantly degrades the image quality as a so-called motion artifact. FIG. 10A shows the spectrum of the fundamental wave component and the harmonic component of the received signal before addition or subtraction. The fundamental wave component has a higher signal strength than the harmonic component, and is shown in FIG. Thus, even a slight residual component is high when viewed from the harmonic component. For this reason, motion artifacts are not small enough to be ignored.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
An object of the present invention is to suppress an adverse effect on the image quality of a residual fundamental wave component caused by tissue movement or the like while maintaining high performance with respect to the removal of the fundamental wave component and the extraction of a harmonic component in an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus. is there.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An aspect of the present invention includes a transmission / reception unit that repeatedly transmits an ultrasonic wave to each of a plurality of ultrasonic scanning lines, and an echo of the ultrasonic wave, and a plurality of receptions for each of the plurality of ultrasonic scanning lines. Receiving means for obtaining a signal; and processing for adding or subtracting the plurality of reception signals for each ultrasonic scanning line in order to attenuate the fundamental wave component included in the plurality of reception signals and extract a harmonic component. Signal processing means to perform, filter means for attenuating at least a part of the residual component of the fundamental wave component remaining in the signal processed by the signal processing means by a filter, and ultrasonic waves based on the output of the filter means comprising a display means for displaying an image, further comprising a selection means for selecting whether to perform the attenuation process by the filter means, said selection means, said residual component Depending on the strength, it selects whether to perform the attenuation process by the filter means.
