Description
The present invention provides an internal manifold in which an electrolyte / electrode structure provided with a pair of electrodes on both sides of an electrolyte and a separator are stacked, and at least a reaction gas introduction port and a reaction gas discharge port are formed through the stacking direction. The present invention relates to a fuel cell system including a fuel cell stack.
For example, in a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, an electrolyte membrane / electrode structure in which an anode side electrode and a cathode side electrode are provided on both sides of an electrolyte membrane (electrolyte) made of a polymer ion exchange membrane is sandwiched between separators. It has a power generation cell. This type of fuel cell is normally used as a fuel cell stack by stacking a predetermined number of power generation cells.
In this fuel cell, a fuel gas, for example, a gas mainly containing hydrogen (hereinafter also referred to as hydrogen-containing gas) is supplied to the anode side electrode, while an oxidant gas, for example, A gas or air mainly containing oxygen (hereinafter also referred to as oxygen-containing gas) is supplied. In the fuel gas supplied to the anode side electrode, hydrogen is ionized on the electrode catalyst and moves to the cathode side electrode side through the electrolyte membrane. Electrons generated during that time are taken out to an external circuit and used as direct current electric energy.
In this case, the fuel gas supplied to the anode side electrode includes an unreacted portion that is discharged from the fuel cell without being consumed, and there is a concern that the fuel consumption may be reduced due to the disposal of the unreacted portion. ing. For this reason, a structure including a fuel gas circulation path in which an unreacted portion discharged from the fuel cell is mixed with new fuel gas and supplied to the anode side electrode again is adopted.
By the way, since the operation temperature of the polymer electrolyte fuel cell is relatively low (˜100 ° C.), moisture that has not been absorbed by the electrolyte membrane after being introduced into the fuel cell stack, or moisture generated by the reaction is present. A reaction gas that is a manifold that passes through the fuel cell stack in the stacking direction and communicates with the reaction gas passage in the reaction gas passage (oxidant gas passage and / or fuel gas passage) of the fuel cell stack It is cooled in the communication hole (oxidant gas communication hole and / or fuel gas communication hole) and tends to exist in a liquid state.
However, as described above, in the structure in which the fuel gas is circulated and supplied to the fuel cell, the water (product water) discharged from the fuel cell is returned to the fuel cell, and flooding is caused in the anode side electrode. There is a problem that. Further, nitrogen in the air supplied to the cathode side electrode may pass through the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and enter the fuel gas, and the nitrogen concentration may increase.
For this reason, the process which purges fuel gas containing a water | moisture content, nitrogen, etc. from a fuel gas circulation path is performed, for example, the hydrogen purge control apparatus currently disclosed by patent document 1 is known. As shown in FIG. 4, the fuel cell system incorporating the hydrogen purge control device includes a fuel cell 1, and a cathode (not shown) of the fuel cell 1 is applied with a predetermined pressure via a
Unreacted hydrogen gas that has not been consumed in the fuel cell 1 is discharged into the hydrogen
For this reason, when purging, the purge valve 8 is opened and the hydrogen gas discharged from the fuel cell 1 flows into the
By the way, in the above-mentioned Patent Document 1, since the air supplied to the fuel cell 1 is discharged to the air discharge passage 3a together with the generated water generated by the reaction at the cathode, the fuel is generated by the change in the amount of the generated water. The air pressure in the battery 1 is likely to fluctuate. This may make it difficult to control the flow rate of air supplied to the fuel cell 1.
The present invention solves this type of problem, and can efficiently discharge the generated water from the fuel cell stack to easily control the oxidant gas flow rate and improve the fuel efficiency. An object is to provide a battery system.
The present invention provides a fuel cell in which an electrolyte / electrode structure provided with a pair of electrodes on both sides of an electrolyte and a separator are stacked, and at least a reaction gas introduction port and a reaction gas discharge port are formed through the stacking direction. A stack, a dilution mechanism communicating with the fuel gas outlet that is one of the reactant gas outlets, and one end of the flow path communicating with the oxidant gas outlet that is the other of the reactant gas outlets, An exhaust gas flow channel having an end communicating with the dilution mechanism, and one end of the flow channel separately communicated with the oxidant gas discharge port separately from the exhaust gas flow channel and exposed to the outside of the fuel cell stack. An end communicates with the dilution mechanism, and a drain channel mainly for discharging droplets from the oxidant gas discharge port to the dilution mechanism, and communicates with the dilution mechanism and discharges gas components and droplets from the dilution mechanism. And a discharge channel .
Further, it is preferable that a flow rate control mechanism is disposed at least in the drain flow path. This is because by operating the flow rate control mechanism, the drain flow path is opened and closed, and drainage control is reliably performed.
According to the present invention, the generated water (droplet) at the oxidant gas discharge port is discharged to a drain channel mainly including waste water and supplied to the dilution mechanism. For this reason, the amount of water in the oxidant gas discharge port is effectively reduced, and it is possible to suppress the generation water from being mixed into the exhaust gas discharged from the oxidant gas discharge port to the exhaust gas passage. Thereby, it becomes possible to satisfactorily prevent the pressure fluctuation of the oxidant gas, and the flow rate of the oxidant gas can be controlled easily and reliably.
In addition, since the amount of generated water discharged into the exhaust gas flow path is reduced, it becomes possible to suppress power consumption of a fan, a supercharger, etc. for supplying oxidant gas from the fuel cell stack to the dilution mechanism, and fuel consumption Can be easily improved.

As shown in FIG. 3, the
As shown in FIG. 1, the
The operation of the
First, as shown in FIG. 1, an oxidant gas such as an oxygen-containing gas, for example, an oxygen-containing gas is introduced into the oxidant gas
Furthermore, a cooling medium such as pure water, ethylene glycol, or oil is circulated and supplied to the cooling medium
As shown in FIG. 2, in the
Therefore, in each electrolyte membrane /
The cooling medium flows in the direction of arrow B after being introduced into the cooling
Next, the oxidant gas consumed by being supplied to the cathode side electrode 38 flows along the oxidant gas
Similarly, the fuel gas that is consumed by being supplied to the anode side electrode 36 (hereinafter also referred to as “consumed fuel gas”) is discharged to the fuel gas
In this case, in this embodiment, the
In the
As a result, the amount of water in the oxidant gas
Thereby, it becomes possible to satisfactorily prevent the pressure fluctuation of the oxidant gas supplied to the
