Description
The present invention relates to an antioxidant composition capable of suppressing the generation of active oxygen in a living body and reducing the generated active oxygen, and a food and drink containing the same.
In recent years, it has become clear that active oxygen plays an important role in living body defense systems, intracellular signal systems, etc., while causing various oxidative damages to biological components, causing aging and diseases. Yes.
As active oxygen, superoxide (.O 2 − ), hydroxyl radical (HO.), Hydroperoxyl radical (HOO.), Alkoxyl radical (LO.), Alkylperoxyl radical (LOO.), Nitric oxide ( NO) and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ), peroxynitrite (ONOO − ), lipid hydroperoxide (LOOH), hypochlorous acid (HOCl), Non-radical species such as ozone (O 3 ) can be mentioned. Of these, superoxide (· O 2 -), hydroxyl radical (HO ·),
Examples of the effects of these active oxygens on the living body include partial cleavage of DNA helix and tissue damage due to generation of chain radicals. As a result, allergic reactions such as bronchial asthma are induced; inflammation is induced by histamine release; ischemic heart diseases such as myocardial infarction and angina pectoris; worsening diseases such as hepatic disorders such as fulminant hepatitis and fatty liver; brain Induction of dementia by cerebrovascular disorders such as infarction and destruction of brain tissue; retinopathy of prematurity, pulmonary emphysema, diabetes, gout, skin cancer, and pregnancy toxemia are known to contribute to diseases.
Further, it is well known that active oxygen not only affects the living body as described above, but also triggers alteration or deterioration in food or the like, or accelerates alteration or deterioration.
Therefore, suppressing the generation of active oxygen in the living body or food, or reducing the active oxygen in the living body or food is a point for treating or preventing these diseases, or suppressing or preventing the deterioration or deterioration of food. It is very important. For this reason, there is a substance (hereinafter referred to as an antioxidant substance) having an action (that is, an antioxidant action) that suppresses the generation of active oxygen in the living body or food or reduces the active oxygen generated in the living body or food. Search) has been widely conducted.
Antioxidants include those derived from natural products such as fat-soluble tocopherol (vitamin E), carotenoids, water-soluble ascorbic acid (vitamin C), and synthetic compounds such as BHT (butylhydroxytoluene) and BHA. (Butylhydroxyaniline) and the like.
Furthermore, attempts have been made to use superoxide desmutase (SOD) for the purpose of reducing active oxygen.
In addition, it has been reported that effects such as prevention of skin aging and prevention of various diseases are expressed by using amino acids as antioxidants (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
However, the above-mentioned antioxidants are not sufficient in reducing active oxygen, and BHT and BHA are suspected to be carcinogenic, and neither of them is practical.
In addition, since SOD is a protein, not only is it difficult to obtain it, but also there is a problem that it is digested by oral administration. Even when administered by injection to solve this problem, the half-life in blood However, it was not satisfactory as an antioxidant.
Furthermore, since the above amino acids are not naturally occurring amino acids and are not approved for use as foods or food additives, they cannot be used in conventional foods.
In addition, as a mechanism for eliminating active oxygen by polyphenols and tannins contained in herbal medicines and plant extracts, active oxygen can be absorbed by binding to iron that acts like a catalyst in the reaction to generate active oxygen, thereby inhibiting its absorption. It is known to suppress the occurrence of. That is, although antioxidant compositions such as polyphenols and tannins suppress the generation of active oxygen, they cause anemia by inhibiting the absorption of iron.
For example, in patients with renal disease, symptoms such as an increase in phospholipid peroxide in the erythrocyte membrane and a decrease in serum hydroxy radical scavenging ability appear, and attempts have been made to use antioxidants as treatments thereof. However, renal disease patients are often accompanied by renal anemia, and for the reasons described above, renal anemia may be exacerbated by the use of antioxidants.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide an antioxidant composition that can be used as food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, can suppress the generation of active oxygen, can reduce the generated active oxygen, and can further improve anemia. That is.

It was. By having such characteristics, a composition having both functions of an antioxidant action and anemia improvement is provided.
In the present invention, the term “antioxidation” means suppression of generation of active oxygen or reduction of active oxygen.

Of these, superoxide (· O 2 -), hydroxyl radical (HO ·),
The expression of the antioxidant effect of ferric pyrophosphate is evaluated by measuring chemiluminescence from a luminescent substance caused by active oxygen using, for example, a chemiluminescence analyzer (CLA-SP2, manufactured by Tohoku Electronics Industrial Co., Ltd.). be able to. Furthermore, it is preferable that the ferric pyrophosphate used in the present invention is coated with an emulsifier from the viewpoint of improving absorbability to living bodies and processability to food and drink.
Here, the state of being coated with an emulsifier means a state of being emulsified using an emulsifier, and such a state can be confirmed by whether or not it is stably dispersed in water.
