Description
The present invention relates to a power supply system using a battery pack. More specifically, the present invention relates to a power supply device using a plurality of battery packs in which a plurality of lithium ion batteries are connected in series.
Conventionally, when a plurality of lithium ion batteries are used, they are packed in one battery pack so that the user cannot easily disassemble and recombine them.
This is to make the state of the unit cells in the battery pack uniform by using unit cells (cells) having the same characteristics when assembling the battery pack. This is an overcharge that causes capacity deterioration and eventually battery combustion. -It was effective to avoid cell imbalance, which causes overdischarge.
In other words, the battery is charged and discharged using a chemical reaction, and if its components change slightly, the battery capacity, self-discharge current, etc., which are the characteristics of the battery, vary, and the same performance cannot be achieved. A cell imbalance occurs when a capacity difference occurs between them. A unit cell having the same characteristics is a unit cell produced with the same material and the same equipment at the same time and tested according to the same standard, and can be said to be a unit cell having the same production lot.
That is, if the production lots of the unit cells are different, the components in the strict sense are slightly different and the battery characteristics are different, which causes cell imbalance. Therefore, when using it for an assembled battery, you must use the unit cell of the same production lot.
For example, to give an extreme example of cell imbalance, in a state where a fully charged unit cell and an empty unit cell are mixed in a single battery pack, there is a fully charged battery, so charging will result in overcharging. Therefore, this battery pack cannot be charged, and even an empty unit cell is overdischarged, so that it cannot be discharged, and cannot be charged or discharged at all. If this is forcibly charged / discharged, it will be overcharged and overdischarged, causing battery combustion.
For this reason, lithium-ion batteries cannot be used simply connected in series like dry batteries, and in order to ensure safety, it is necessary to arrange production lots into battery packs.
In addition, a case where a plurality of battery packs are connected in series may be used. However, when a user accidentally mixes battery packs having different capacity characteristics, the cell amplifiers between the battery packs are affected by the characteristic difference. Since it becomes a balance, a method of using a single battery pack is usually the mainstream.

In
However, since all the power supply devices described in
Therefore, cell unbalance of unit cells in one battery pack or cell unbalance between battery packs in a plurality of connected battery packs cannot be detected, so the cause of battery combustion still remains. is there.
In addition, when the unit cell becomes a battery pack of 10 or more, the withstand voltage required for the protection IC that monitors the voltage of the battery pack becomes 50 V or more, which is very expensive and the accuracy of voltage detection is also high. Become scarce. In addition, a battery pack of a lithium ion battery having a large energy amount (a lithium equivalent content of 8.0 g, which corresponds to a total capacity of 26.67 Ah of the entire lithium ion battery) is IATA's According to the Dangerous Goods Regulations, it is required to display dangerous goods. In that case, air transportation by regular flights is virtually impossible.
For example, in the case of 10 straight, the battery pack capacity of 2.667Ah, which is 1/10 of 26.67Ah of the total capacity of the entire unit cell, is handled as dangerous goods. This is a capacity that will be empty in 16 minutes when an output such as 10A is performed with a battery pack capacity of 2.667Ah, which is very inconvenient and output nearly 4 times the battery pack capacity. Since the current is an electric current, the load on the unit cell is very large, and the capacity deterioration tends to proceed. If this becomes 20 and 30, there is a problem that the capacity of the battery pack is further reduced and the convenience is impaired.
On the other hand, recently, power supply devices capable of high voltage output using 10 series or more lithium ion batteries have been used as emergency power supplies for base stations of hybrid cars and mobile phones, and solve these problems. The need came out.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a power supply device using a battery pack that can cope with a transportation problem by dividing the battery pack with a small amount of energy.

According to the present invention, a selector unit that connects the system control unit and a control unit selected from the control units is provided between the system control unit and the control units, and the selector unit includes: Level adjustment circuit for adjusting the ground (GND) potential of the system control unit and the ground (GND) potential of the selected control unit to enable communication between the system control unit and the selected control unit It is characterized by providing.
Furthermore, the present invention is characterized in that the device includes a microcomputer, and the system control unit is connected to the microcomputer and sends a signal corresponding to the prohibition of charge / discharge to the microcomputer.
In the present invention, the unit cell is a lithium ion battery, and one battery pack has a lithium ion battery having a connection of 4 or less.
According to the power supply device using the battery pack of the present invention, it is confirmed whether or not the manufacturing lot information of the unit cells is the same before the charge and discharge, so that cell imbalance may occur between the battery packs. Can be prevented.
Therefore, it is possible to prevent the danger that the unit cell reaches combustion.
In addition, according to the present invention, whether or not the connection status of the unit cells is the same is confirmed in the stage before charging / discharging, so that it is possible to eliminate human error and further cause cell imbalance between battery packs. Can be prevented.
Further, according to the present invention, after using after confirming that no cell imbalance has occurred, the state of the battery pack is not overcharged or discharged, each cell voltage is substantially the same, or between battery packs. A power supply apparatus using a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 1 shows an outline of the electrical configuration of a power supply apparatus using a battery pack according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 shows a selector circuit 53a shown in FIG. 1, and FIG. 3 shows a power system shown in FIG. The process of the microcomputer 51 is shown.
As shown in FIG. 1, the battery pack-use power supply device according to the embodiment of the present invention uses a plurality of
Each
The battery pack microcomputers 41 to 44 receive information indicating the cell voltage and the state of charge / discharge from the protection ICs 31 to 34, as well as lot information at the time of manufacture of each unit cell and information indicating the connection state of the unit cell. In addition, charge / discharge is controlled through the charge / discharge FETs 21 to 24. Further, the battery pack microcomputers 41 to 44 calculate the remaining capacity of the battery packs 1 to 4 based on the current flowing through the unit cells, and similarly, the
Thereby, the safety of each battery pack can be ensured, and the battery pack can be safely attached and detached. In this case, in the case of the prior art, one protection IC corresponding to 16 direct monitors the voltage of the unit cell, but by dividing into four
In addition, the
A more specific operation principle will be described by taking the switching unit 53a connected to the
As described above, the switching unit 53a adjusts the GND (ground) potential of the power supply system microcomputer 51 and the GND (ground) potential of the battery pack microcomputer 41 included in the
Note that the switching
Next, processing of the power supply system microcomputer (CPU) 51 shown in FIG. 1 will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. Here, the process which determines whether the power supply system microcomputer 51 permits the charging / discharging by the battery packs 1-4 is shown.
First, the power supply system microcomputer 51 determines whether or not the attachment of all the battery packs 1 to 4 has been completed based on the information from each battery pack microcomputer 41 (step S01).
When the installation of all the battery packs 1 to 4 is completed, the power supply system microcomputer 51 manufactures the unit cells built in each of the battery packs 1 to 4 input from the battery pack microcomputers 41 to 44 when the battery packs are attached. The lot information and information indicating the connection status of the unit cells are read by communication (step S02).
Then, the power supply system microcomputer 51 determines whether or not the manufacturing lot information of the cells built in all the battery packs 1 to 4 is the same, and connects the cells built in all the battery packs 1 to 4 as well. It is determined whether or not the situation is the same (step S03, step S04).
Here, the same production lot information of the unit cells means that the unit cells are produced with the same materials and the same equipment at the same time and tested according to the same standards. For example, (1) unit cell manufacturer name, (2) model number indicating the type of unit cell, (3) unit cell production date, (4) unit cell production factory, (5) unit cell production line Information. Note that the unit cell production line may not be specified.
The unit cell connection status indicates how many unit cells of the assembled batteries 15 to 18 of the battery packs 1 to 4 are formed.
In step S03, if the manufacturing lot information of the unit cells contained in all the battery packs 1 to 4 is not the same, the battery characteristics are different and the cell unbalanced state is reached during use. Then, the battery pack microcomputers 41 to 44 communicate with each of the battery packs 1 to 4 to prohibit charging / discharging (step S11). The user is warned that the attachment is wrong and requests the user to connect the battery pack correctly (step S12). The main body microcomputer 61 notifies the user that the connection of the battery pack is incorrect by displaying a warning sound or display on the display.
Further, even when there are battery packs whose connection states are not the same in step S04, the power supply system microcomputer 51 communicates prohibition of charging / discharging to each of the battery packs 1 to 4 (step S11), and the connected main body The main body microcomputer 61 provided in the
In step S03 and step S04, the manufacturing lot information of the unit cells contained in each of the battery packs 1 to 4 is the same, and the connection of the unit cells constituting the assembled batteries 15 to 18 is the same as that of each of the battery packs 1 to 4. (4 in the case of this embodiment), the power supply system microcomputer 51 reads the input data related to the battery packs 1 to 4 from the battery pack microcomputers 41 to 44 by communication. (Step S05).
The data relating to each of the battery packs 1 to 4 is battery pack state information, voltage information, remaining capacity information, and learned capacity information.
The battery pack state information is information indicating whether or not the battery packs 1 to 4 are overcharged and discharged, and the voltage information is each cell voltage of each of the battery packs 1 to 4. The remaining capacity information is the remaining capacity of each of the battery packs 1 to 4 calculated based on the current flowing through the unit cells. The learning capacity information is a dischargeable amount of each of the battery packs 1 to 4 calculated based on the current flowing through the unit cell during the previous discharge.
Next, the power supply system microcomputer 51 determines whether or not all the battery packs 1 to 4 can be charged / discharged (step S06), and whether the cell voltages of the battery packs 1 to 4 are substantially the same. In the case of the present embodiment, the difference between the cell voltages is 200 mV or less (step S07), whether the remaining capacities of the battery packs 1 to 4 are substantially the same, that is, each
If charging / discharging is possible in step S06 and each cell voltage, remaining capacity, and learning capacity are substantially the same in steps S07 to 09, each
Thereby, power supply from the battery packs 1 to 4 to the
And the process of step S05-step S10 is repeated, and the power supply system microcomputer 51 determines whether charging / discharging is permitted, detecting the state of each battery pack 1-4.
In the process of step S05 to step S9, when there is an abnormal state in the battery pack, such as when there is an overcharged / discharged battery pack, or there is a cell unbalanced state that is not substantially the same in each cell voltage, remaining capacity, and learning capacity. When the battery pack is generated, the power supply system microcomputer 51 communicates prohibition of charging / discharging to each of the battery packs 1 to 4 via the battery pack microcomputers 41 to 44 (step S13), and connects to the connected
As described above, according to the power supply device using the battery pack according to the embodiment of the present invention, it is confirmed whether or not the manufacturing lot information of the unit cells is the same before charging and discharging, and the connection of the unit cells is performed. Since it is confirmed whether the situation is the same, it is possible to prevent cell imbalance from occurring between the battery packs 1 to 4.
Therefore, it is possible to prevent the danger that the unit cell reaches combustion.
Moreover, even after using after confirming that no cell imbalance has occurred, charging / discharging of the battery packs 1 to 4 is permitted while constantly monitoring the state of the battery pack, so that safety is further ensured. The
Further, since the conventional protection ICs 31 to 34 can be used inside the battery packs 1 to 4, a safe and inexpensive battery pack is obtained.
Moreover, since it can be disassembled into battery packs with a small energy of 4 or less and each battery pack provides safety protection, no special handling is required even in the state of a single battery pack. A battery pack with a small amount of energy even if it has a large total energy (battery pack with a lithium equivalent content of 8.0 g or more) that can be handled as dangerous goods in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations based on the UN Recommendation If it can be safely divided and packaged (battery pack with a lithium equivalent content of 8.0 g or less) and packaged to meet specific standards (safety test is performed to ensure safety), air transportation becomes possible. For example, the equivalent lithium content of 1.0 g corresponds to a unit cell capacity of 3.33 Ah, so in the case of 10 cells, 26.67 Ah of the total capacity of the entire unit cell is 1/10 of 2.667 Ah. If the battery pack capacity is handled as dangerous goods, and the battery pack capacity is 2.667Ah and output such as 10A is performed, the capacity will be emptied in 16 minutes. Since the output current is nearly four times the battery pack capacity, the load on the unit cell is very large, so the capacity deterioration is likely to proceed. However, as in the embodiment of the present invention, if the length is four, the battery pack capacity of 6.666 Ah, which is 1/4 of 26.67 Ah of the total capacity of the whole unit cell, is possible. If there are three, it becomes 6.6Ah, and even 40A can be supplied for 40 minutes, and the output current is 1.5 times the battery pack capacity, so the load on the unit cell is within the normal use range. However, the capacity degradation does not progress significantly. (In addition, the standard lithium-ion battery has an output current that is twice the capacity of the battery pack as a guide.) In other words, the number of parallel cells in the battery pack is determined according to the output current and matched to the output voltage. Thus, the series number of unit cells in the battery pack and the number of battery packs connected in series can be determined.
Further, according to the embodiment of the present invention, the battery packs 1 to 4 which are consumables and the
