Description

The present invention relates to a vehicle hub unit to which a disc rotor and wheels of a disc brake device in an automobile are attached.

Generally, the vehicle hub unit is roughly classified into a type used on the driven wheel side of an automobile and a type used on the drive wheel side. As the driven wheel type, as shown in FIG. 3 according to Embodiment 2 of the present invention, a double row rolling bearing is attached to the outer periphery of the hub wheel. Further, as shown in FIG. 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention, the drive wheel type has a structure in which a double row rolling bearing is attached to the outer periphery of the hub wheel and a constant velocity joint is attached to the inner periphery of the hub wheel. Yes.

Usually, the outer peripheral surface of the hub wheel is provided with a radially outward flange for mounting a disc rotor and a wheel of a disc brake device in an automobile.

In the structure of the driven wheel type hub unit, the inner end of the hub wheel is bent and deformed radially outward, and is caulked against the inner ring of the double row rolling bearing. In addition to preventing the rolling bearing from coming off, a required preload (compressive stress) is applied to the double row rolling bearing (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

On the other hand, in the structure of the drive wheel type hub unit, the outer end of the shaft portion of the outer ring of the constant velocity joint is bent and deformed outward in the radial direction, and caulked against the outer end surface of the hub wheel, thereby And the outer ring of the constant velocity joint sandwich the double row rolling bearing and apply a required preload (compressive stress) to the double row rolling bearing.
Japanese Patent Publication No. 48-4722

In the above conventional example, in any type of hub unit, when moisture is applied to the caulking portion, the fitting surface between the hub wheel and the outer ring of the constant velocity joint, or the inner ring of the hub wheel and the double row rolling bearing. It is not preferable because it may penetrate into the mating surface and may cause rust or the like.

Further, the moisture that has entered from the caulking portion may enter the inside of the double row rolling bearing with the passage of time, and may deteriorate the lubricant.

In view of such circumstances, an object of the present invention is to prevent moisture intrusion from a caulking portion and maintain the quality of each portion over a long period of time in a vehicle hub unit.

The vehicle hub unit of the present invention is a vehicle hub unit in which a double row rolling bearing is disposed on the outer periphery of the hub wheel, and a radially outward flange is integrally formed on the outer peripheral surface of the hub wheel, The hub wheel has a shaft portion on which the double row rolling bearing is sheathed, and the double row rolling bearing has a single outer ring having two rows of raceway grooves and a plurality of rolling wheels arranged in two rows. and moving object, and a single inner ring which corresponds to the rolling element groups one row, the region of the flange side is a raceway surface of the rolling element groups other hand column in the shaft portion, the inner end portion of the hub wheel It is prevented from coming off in the axial direction by being bent and deformed radially outward and crimped to the inner ring, and between the bent and crimped portion of the hub wheel and the end surface of the inner ring to which it is caulked. Only, the elastic sealing material is compressively deformed Is held in Sera state is characterized by.

In the present invention, in the structure in which the inner ring of the double row rolling bearing is prevented from coming off by caulking, moisture is intruded from the caulking part by interposing an elastic sealing material between the caulking part of the inner ring and the caulking part. Try to prevent.

In the present invention, since the elastic sealing material is interposed in the caulking portion, it is possible to reliably prevent moisture from entering from here, and it is possible to avoid quality deterioration such as rust. Specifically, it is possible to reliably prevent the caulking portion from entering the fitting portion between the inner ring of the double row rolling bearing and the shaft portion of the hub wheel. Along with this, moisture intrusion into the inside of the double row rolling bearing can be avoided from the gap connected to the caulking portion. Furthermore, even if the elastic sealing material is interposed in the caulking portion, the elastic sealing material is crushed by caulking, so that the occurrence of a problem that the degree of application of axial force due to caulking is reduced is also avoided.

Thus, according to the present invention, the quality of each part of the vehicle hub unit can be maintained over a long period of time, which can contribute to improvement in reliability.

The details of the present invention will be described based on embodiments (including a reference embodiment) shown in the drawings.

FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view showing a vehicle hub unit according to a reference embodiment of the present invention. The vehicle hub unit shown in the figure is a type used on the driving wheel side of an automobile, and includes a hub wheel 1, a double row rolling bearing 2, and a constant velocity joint 3.

The hub wheel 1 has a hollow structure, a radially outward flange 11 at an axially intermediate portion of the outer peripheral surface, a female spline at a required region of the inner peripheral surface of the hollow portion, and further at an inner end portion of the outer peripheral surface. In the double row rolling bearing 2, raceway surfaces 12 of one group of balls 22 are formed. Note that bolts 13 for fixing the disc rotor 4 and wheels (not shown) of the disc brake device are attached in a penetrating manner at circumferential positions of the flange 11. Reference numeral 5 denotes a brake pad.

The double row rolling bearing 2 has a single outer ring 21 having two rows of raceway grooves, a plurality of balls 22 as rolling elements arranged in two rows, and two crown-shaped cages 23. About two required inner rings, the outer peripheral surface of the hub wheel 1 and the outer peripheral surface of the constant velocity joint 3 are used. The outer ring 21 is formed with a radially outward flange 24 that is bolted to the vehicle body 6 or the like.

The constant velocity joint 3 is called a well-known Rzeppa type (Barfield type) constant velocity joint, and includes an outer ring 31, an inner ring 32, a ball 33, a cage 34, and the like. The outer ring 31 has a bowl-shaped part 35 in which an inner ring 32, a ball 33, a retainer 34, and the like are accommodated and a cylindrical shaft part 36 integrally connected to the small-diameter side of the bowl-shaped part 35. ing. The outer peripheral surface of the bowl-shaped portion 35 is provided with a raceway surface 37 of one group of balls 22 in the double-row rolling bearing 2, and the hub wheel 1 is provided in a required region on the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical shaft portion 36. A male spline to be fitted to the female spline is formed. Further, one end side of the shaft 7 is spline-fitted to the inner ring 32 and secured to the inner ring 32 by a retaining ring or the like, and the other end side of the shaft 7 is not shown but is connected to the vehicle via another constant velocity joint. It is attached to the differential device.

Then, with the double row rolling bearing 2 attached to the outer peripheral surface of the hub wheel 1 and the constant velocity joint 3 attached to the inner peripheral surface of the hub wheel 1, the cylindrical shaft portion 36 of the outer ring 31 of the constant velocity joint 3 is provided. The double row rolling bearing 2 is sandwiched from the axial direction by the hub wheel 1 and the outer ring 31 of the constant velocity joint 3 by bending the outer end portion radially outward and caulking the outer end surface of the hub wheel 1. In this manner, a required preload (compressive stress) is applied to the double row rolling bearing 2. The caulking portion is denoted by reference numeral 38.

In such a hub unit, the rotational power of the shaft 7 is transmitted to a wheel (not shown) attached to the hub wheel 1 via the constant velocity joint 3.

By the way, in this reference embodiment 1, an elastic sealing material 8 such as an O-ring is interposed between the outer end surface of the hub wheel 1 and the contact portion between the caulking portion 38 of the outer ring 31 in the constant velocity joint 3 to be caulked there. It is characterized by that.

In order to mount the elastic seal material 8 in this way, as will be described later, for example, when performing a caulking operation to bend the outer end portion of the cylindrical shaft portion 36 in the outer ring 31 of the constant velocity joint 3 radially outward. In addition, the elastic sealing material 8 may be attached to the outer end portion of the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical shaft portion 36 in the outer ring 31 in advance.

The caulking operation will be described.

Here, as shown in FIG. 2, a caulking receiving jig 40 and a restraining ring 41 are used. First, the entire vehicle hub unit temporarily assembled through the caulking receiving jig 40 is placed on the base 42. At this time, the jig receiving surface 39 of the outer ring 31 is applied to the mounting surface 40 a of the caulking receiving jig 40, so that the outer ring 31 is lifted from the base 42.

A jig receiving surface 39 to which the above-described caulking receiving jig 40 is applied is formed in advance on the inner peripheral back wall of the bowl-shaped portion 35 in the outer ring 31 of the constant velocity joint 3.

Next, a restraining ring 41 is attached to an outer end portion on which the disc rotor 4 and wheels (not shown) are fitted on the outer peripheral surface of the hub wheel 1. This restraining ring 41 is used to prevent the surface of the flange 11 of the hub wheel 1 to which the disk rotor 4 is applied from being distorted by caulking.

In such a state, after attaching the elastic sealing material 8 to the outer end portion of the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical shaft portion 36 in the outer ring 31, the required angle with respect to the center O while pressurizing the caulking jig 43 with the required pressure P1. Roll with θ. Thereby, the outer end portion of the cylindrical shaft portion 36 in the outer ring 31 is bent and deformed outward in the radial direction, and is caulked against the outer end surface of the hub wheel 1, and the caulking portion 38 formed by this bending deformation and The elastic sealing material 8 is sandwiched between the outer end face of the hub wheel 1 in a state of being compressed and deformed.

In this rolling caulking process, the caulking load P1 acts on the jig receiving surface 39 of the outer ring 31 facing directly in the axial direction, but the jig receiving surface 39 is supported by the mounting surface 40a of the caulking receiving jig 40. The reaction force P2 from the mounting surface 40a substantially coincides with the caulking load P1 in the axial direction, so that no couple force is generated in the constant velocity joint 3 during caulking. Further, since the outer periphery of the hub wheel 1 is received by the restraining ring 41 on the outer peripheral surface of the hub wheel 1, the disk rotor 4 is attached to the flange 11 of the hub wheel 1 during caulking. It is possible to prevent the applied surface from being distorted. As a result, the rotational shake of the disk rotor 4 can be suppressed.

As described above, in the reference embodiment, the elastic sealing material 8 is interposed between the outer end surface of the hub wheel 1 and the contact portion between the caulking portion 38 of the outer ring 31 in the constant velocity joint 3 that is caulked there. Therefore, even if moisture is applied thereto, this moisture is surely prevented from entering the spline fitting portion between the caulking portion 38 and the cylindrical shaft portion 36 of the outer ring 31 of the constant velocity joint 3 from the caulking portion 38. It becomes possible to avoid deterioration of quality due to rust. This inevitably prevents moisture from entering the inside of the double row rolling bearing 2, thereby contributing to an improvement in bearing life. In addition, even if the elastic sealing material 8 is interposed in the caulking portion, the elastic sealing material 8 is crushed by caulking, so that the occurrence of a problem that the degree of application of axial force due to caulking is reduced is also avoided.

FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view showing a hub unit according to an embodiment of the present invention. The hub unit of this embodiment is a type used on the driven wheel side of an automobile, and is composed of a hub wheel 1 and a double row rolling bearing 2. Unlike the above reference embodiment, a constant velocity joint 3 is used. It is not done. However, the essence of the invention is basically the same as the above reference embodiment.

The hub wheel 1 and the double-row rolling bearing 2 have basically the same configuration as that described in the reference embodiment, but are slightly different in detail. Here, the hub wheel 1 has a solid structure, and has a structure in which a raceway surface serving as one inner ring of the double row rolling bearing 2 is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the shaft portion. Is provided with a single inner ring 25.

Then, the inner end portion of the shaft portion of the hub wheel 1 is bent and deformed outward in the radial direction and caulked against the end surface of the inner ring 25 of the double row rolling bearing 2, thereby double row rolling with respect to the hub wheel 1. The bearing 2 is integrated. Note that reference numeral 15 denotes a caulking portion of the hub wheel 1.

In such a configuration, the elastic sealing material 8 is held in a compressed state at a contact portion between the inner ring 25 and the caulking portion 15.

The caulking form in this embodiment will be described. Here, as shown in FIG. 4, the entire vehicle hub unit temporarily assembled on the base 42 is placed. In such a state, after attaching the elastic sealing material 8 to the inner end portion on the outer peripheral surface of the shaft portion of the hub wheel 1, the required angle θ with respect to the center O is set while pressing the caulking jig 43 with the required pressure. Add and roll. As a result, the inner end portion of the shaft portion of the hub wheel 1 is bent and deformed outward in the radial direction, and is caulked against the end surface of the inner ring 25 of the double row rolling bearing 2, and the caulking formed by this bending deformation. The elastic sealing material 8 is sandwiched between the portion 15 and the end face of the inner ring 25 in a state of being compressed and deformed.

In this rolling caulking process, the caulking load acts on the hub wheel 1 from the inner ring 25, but since the hub wheel 1 is solid, the caulking load acts on the entire hub wheel 1, and as a result, caulking is applied to the flange 11 of the hub wheel 1. There is no need for couples in time.

As described above, in the above embodiment, the elastic seal material 8 is interposed between the inner ring 25 of the double row rolling bearing 2 and the contact portion between the caulking portion 15 of the shaft portion of the hub wheel 1 to be caulked there. Therefore, even if moisture is applied here, it becomes possible to reliably prevent the moisture from entering the fitting portion between the inner ring 25 and the shaft portion of the hub wheel 1 from the caulking portion 38, which is caused by rust. Quality deterioration can be avoided.

Various configurations of the hub unit of the present invention can be considered in addition to those exemplified in the above embodiment, but the present invention can be similarly applied to all of them. Moreover, in the said embodiment, although the O-ring was mentioned as an example as the elastic sealing material 8, it can be set as a solid sealing body or a liquid curable sealing body.
