フットバス装置４の使用に際し、（施術者又は被施術者が）三方弁６６を操作して、第１導管６１と第２導管６２とを連絡することにより、主給湯管６にて給排水源より導かれると共にミキシング装置８から第５導管６５及び第１導管６１内に導入された湯が、第２導管６２を通じて、給湯口４１からシンク部４１内へ放出される。このようにしてシンク部４１内に給湯し湯を張ることができる。シンク部４１内に一定量の湯が溜まれば、三方弁６６を閉じて、第１導管６１と第２導管６２とを遮断する。そして上記のポンプ６７を作動させることによって、循環用吸水口４１ｄからシンク部４１内の湯を第３導管６３内に吸い込む。吸い込まれた湯は、第４導管６４…６４を通じて、ノズル４１ｃ…４１ｃからシンク部４１内に向けて噴射される。被施術者ｍは、座部１１に座したまま、シンク部４１内に足を乗せる（入れる）ことによって、上記のノズル４１ｃ…４１ｃからの湯の噴射により足部へのマッサージを受けることができる。従って、足湯及びこのようなマッサージにより、極めて優れたリラクゼーション効果を得ることができる。また、上記の通りポンプ６７にて循環用吸水口４１ｄから吸水しノズル４１ｃ…４１ｃから放水することにより、シンク部４１内の湯を循環させて、繰り返し利用することができる。
更に、上記において、別途、シャワー装置３を利用して、足を洗うことができる。シャワー装置３の使用に際しては、施術者がコック３３を開くことにより、第１導管６１とホース３２とを連絡し、第１導管６１からホース３２へ湯を導き、シャワーノズル３１にて、シンク部４１内の足に向けて湯を放出すればよい。シャワーノズル２１は、シンク部４１と分離できるので、施術者が手に持って自由に操作することができる。

上記の実施の形態において、背凭れ上部１３ａに設けられたヘッドレスト１４は、背凭れ上部１３ａと共に、背凭れ１３（背凭れ下部１３ｂ）から取り外すことが可能なものであった。この他、このように背凭れ１３より取り外す（分離する）のではなく、ヒンジなどの周知の折畳手段を介して固定され、背凭れ下部１３ｂの後面側に折り畳むことが可能なものとしても実施可能である。
