Description
The present invention relates to social behavior behavior diagnosing how to analyze the behavior of such a small laboratory animals such as mice in animal studies to evaluate the effect of drug efficacy and genetic manipulation, such as pharmaceuticals.
However, in the behavior observation method for small animals in Patent Document 1, there are seven types of observers, which are areas for which an action is determined in advance: area, long axis length, center of gravity movement, straightness, rotation, total difference amount, and partial difference amount. Image parameters are stored in a computer, and small animal image parameters captured from a video camera are individually compared with these reference parameters. Therefore, the comparison and determination of image parameters are complicated, and the amount of reference parameters stored in the computer in advance is large, so a large-scale computer is required. Furthermore, this method is not suitable for measuring the social behavior of a plurality of individuals because it is difficult to determine the presence or absence of contact between individuals when targeting a plurality of small animal individuals.
The present invention solves such a problem, and makes use of a specific behavior of a standard small animal as a comparison standard to minimize the items to be compared and simplify the comparison and determination of image parameters. Another object of the present invention is to provide a method for diagnosing small animals that can be analyzed by a small computer such as a personal computer.

According to the present invention, small laboratory animals such as mice are nocturnal, and when there are multiple animals in a cage, they usually have a common habit of being in contact with each other, especially during nighttime activities.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a conceptual diagram showing an embodiment of a small animal behavior analysis apparatus according to the present invention. The

Next, operations of the small animal behavior analysis apparatus of FIG. 1 and the signal processing system block diagram of FIG. 2 will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
In the present invention, in order to observe the social behavior of small animals, two or more small animals are bred in the same breeding cage. Two or more

FIG. 4 (A) shows a graph showing the time change of the average value of the number of clusters in the black area every hour when the behavior of two small animals in the
This graph corresponds to the graph created by the averaging
Since there are two small animals in this example, the number of clusters is 2 when the two small animals are separated from each other, and the number of clusters is 1 when the small animals are in contact. Small animals such as mice usually have a habit of being in contact with each other and gathering together, especially during daytime sleep. Small animals are nocturnal and have the habit of sleeping during the day and working at night. Taking these points into consideration, looking at the

FIG. 4B shows a graph showing the temporal change of the average value of the total number of changed pixels every hour when the behavior of two small animals in the

From FIG. 4A and FIG. 4B, it can be seen that the subject small animals have weak habits that are in contact with each other and gather together, and the amount of activity at night is large compared to the standard small animals. This tendency is a tendency peculiar to schizophrenia (psychotic disorder), and it is estimated that schizophrenia was suffered by eliminating the calcineurin gene. That is, it can be seen that the presence or absence of the calcineurin gene strongly affects schizophrenia. Therefore, it can be said that manipulation of the calcineurin gene may cure schizophrenia.
In the above description, the method of processing the image signal captured by the
