Description
The present invention relates to an energy absorbing structure for protecting an occupant of an automobile, and more particularly to an energy absorbing structure for protecting an occupant of an automobile provided on a vehicle body structural member constituting a part of the vehicle body.
Conventionally, as a vehicle occupant protection energy absorbing member, longitudinal ribs and lateral ribs disposed on the vehicle interior side such as front pillars, center pillars, roof side rails, etc., which are vehicle body structural members constituting a part of the vehicle body. A lattice-shaped rib member made of synthetic resin is known.
When the vehicle collides, a part (head) of the occupant's body abuts against the rib member, so that the abutting portion of the rib member is plastically deformed, thereby absorbing and reducing the impact force received by the occupant from the vehicle body. Like to do. Further, there is also known one that absorbs and reduces the impact force that the occupant receives from the vehicle body by destroying the rib member at the time of collision.
However, as described above, the conventional energy absorbing member for protecting an occupant of an automobile is formed in a lattice shape composed of vertical ribs and horizontal ribs. When the load is applied at different positions, the amount of energy absorbed by the rib member is not necessarily constant depending on the angle and position, and the effective stroke amount is different even when the same level of impact is applied. was there.
In order to solve such a problem, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 11-334508 (Patent Document 1) discloses that the cross section is substantially parallelogram-shaped and hollow on the side of the passenger compartment such as a roof side rail which is a vehicle body structural member of an automobile. Proposed is a cross-sectional energy absorbing member provided in the front-rear direction of the vehicle. In the energy absorbing member for protecting an occupant of an automobile disclosed in Patent Document 1, when the occupant's head comes into contact with the energy absorbing member, the cross section of the energy absorbing member is formed in a substantially parallelogram and is hollow. While collapsing the shape of the parallelogram, the energy of the collision is absorbed. At this time, since it is a substantially parallelogram, it is easily crushed and the deformation mode is stable, so that it is less dependent on the angle and position of impact.
However, although the thing of the patent document 1 mentioned above is comparatively effective in reducing the dependence by the angle and position of a collision, there exists a request | requirement of the further improvement. For example, when a predetermined amount of collision energy is absorbed by the energy absorbing member, the stroke amount (deformation amount) of the energy absorbing member is preferably as short as possible due to the arrangement space and the like. At this time, in order to shorten the stroke amount, it is necessary to raise the initial load in a very short time when the head of the occupant contacts the energy absorbing member. Furthermore, it is necessary to keep the average load within a predetermined reference value so as not to deteriorate the head injury index (HIC). Further, it is necessary to stably obtain such optimum load characteristics. For example, in order to protect an occupant more reliably, it is necessary to more reliably reduce the dependence on the angle and position of impact.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in order to satisfy the above-described conventional demands, and an object of the present invention is to provide an automobile-occupant-protecting energy absorbing member with improved occupant-protecting performance.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an energy absorbing member for protecting an occupant of an automobile that can stably obtain a preferable load characteristic.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides an energy absorption structure for protecting an occupant of an automobile provided on a vehicle body structural member that constitutes a part of the vehicle body, and is provided on the vehicle compartment side of the vehicle body structural member. A hollow energy absorbing member having a closed cross section and a panel member provided so as to cover a side surface of the vehicle interior of the energy absorbing member, the panel member extending along the longitudinal direction of the energy absorbing member The energy absorbing member has at least one flange portion formed, and absorbs the collision energy of the occupant by deformation of the closed cross section when the occupant collides . It has the bending part bent toward the inner side of a closed cross section by contact | abutting .
In the present invention configured as described above, since the panel member covers the side surface of the hollow energy absorbing member, the force applied from the head of the occupant is different even if the collision position and angle of the occupant's head are different. As a result, the load characteristics of the energy absorbing member can be stabilized. Further, since the bent portion of the energy absorbing member having a closed cross section is bent toward the inside of the closed cross section by contact with the flange portion of the panel member at the time of a passenger collision, more energy absorbing portions can be obtained. The load can be absorbed more reliably. Furthermore, the optimum load characteristic can be obtained by adjusting the load characteristic due to the rigidity of the energy absorbing member itself and the load reduction characteristic due to the bending of the bent portion. In this way, the occupant protection performance can be improved.
Further, in the present invention, preferably, the flange portion of the panel member is between the bent portion of the energy absorbing member and the bent portion is flanged from the start of deformation of the closed cross section of the energy absorbing member at the time of a passenger collision. A gap that is set so that the initial load rises is formed in the energy absorbing member until it comes into contact with the portion .
In the present invention configured as described above, when the occupant collides between the flange portion of the panel member and the bent portion of the energy absorbing member, the bent portion starts from the start of deformation of the closed cross section of the energy absorbing member. A gap is set in the energy absorbing member so that the initial load rises until it comes into contact with the flange. Therefore, at the initial stage of the occupant's collision, the initial load is not brought into contact with the flange. Can be started up in a short time, and the load can be reduced by bringing the flange portion into contact with the bent portion after the startup. Therefore, the optimum load characteristic can be obtained more reliably.
In the present invention, preferably, the energy absorbing member has two wall surface portions extending from the outer side portion of the vehicle interior to the vehicle interior side, and one of these wall surface portions is located inside the energy absorbing member itself rather than the other. Inclined.
In the present invention configured as described above, one of the two wall surface portions is formed to be inclined with respect to the inner side of the energy absorbing member itself rather than the other, so that the one wall surface portion is securely attached to the energy absorbing member. It is possible to deform so as to fall inside the energy absorbing member itself. Therefore, even if the collision position and angle of the occupant's head are different, they can be deformed in a certain direction and stable load characteristics can be obtained.
In the present invention, preferably, the energy absorbing member is a cylindrical member having a substantially rhombic cross-sectional shape.
In the present invention configured as described above, since the energy absorbing member is a cylindrical member having a substantially rhombic cross-sectional shape, the deformation mode is such that the four corners are bent in a certain direction and the rhombus is crushed. As a result, the load characteristic can be stabilized. Moreover, since the size of the four surfaces (sides) of the rhombus is the same, it is possible to improve the yield related to the attachment of the energy absorbing member by the operator.
In the present invention, preferably, the flange portion of the panel member is provided on at least one side of the panel member, and the bent portion is formed only on one wall surface portion of the energy absorbing member with which the flange portion abuts. Yes.
In the present invention configured as described above, since a bent portion that is bent by the flange portion is formed only on one wall surface portion of the energy absorbing member with which the flange portion abuts , a more reliable and stable load characteristic can be obtained. I can do it.
In the present invention, preferably, the flange portion of the panel member is provided on both sides of the panel member, and the flange portion provided on the other side of the panel member is provided on the other wall surface portion of the energy absorbing member. It is provided to be engaged with the vehicle interior side end.
In the present invention configured as described above, the flange portion provided on the other side of the panel member is provided so as to engage with the vehicle interior side end portion of the other wall surface portion of the energy absorbing member. Sometimes positioning of the panel member is facilitated. In addition, in the case where a gap is provided between the flange on one side and the bent portion, variation in the size of the gap can be almost eliminated, and in this respect as well, more stable load characteristics can be obtained. I can do it.
Further, in the present invention, preferably, a rib member for collision energy absorption provided to extend in the vehicle interior / exterior direction in the vicinity of the energy absorption member, and a portion of the rib member facing the energy absorption member However, it is formed so that it may extend along the inclination direction of the wall surface part of an energy absorption member.
In the present invention configured as described above, the portion of the rib member facing the energy absorbing member extends along the inclination direction of the wall surface of the energy absorbing member, so that the gap between the energy absorbing member and the rib member is reduced. I can do it. As a result, a region capable of absorbing the collision energy can be ensured more reliably. Further, when the worker is assembled, for example, it is possible to suppress erroneous assembly such as a mistake in the inclination direction of the energy absorbing member.
In the present invention, it is preferable that a pedestal member for attaching the energy absorbing member to the vehicle body structural member is further provided, and the pedestal member extends from the mounting surface to the vehicle body structural member. The spacer part which contacts a vehicle body structural member is provided.
In the present invention configured as described above, the energy absorbing member can be maintained at the optimum position (height) for energy absorption and the optimum angle with respect to the collision prediction direction by the spacer portion and the mounting surface. The collision energy of the occupant can be absorbed more reliably.
In the present invention, preferably, the energy absorbing member and the panel member are provided on an upper portion of a center pillar which is one member of the vehicle body structural member, and a trim is attached to the upper portion of the center pillar. The top sealing is sandwiched between the trim and the panel member.
In the present invention configured as above, since the top sealing is sandwiched between the trim and the panel member, the gap between the trim and the panel member can be eliminated, so that the head of the passenger collides with the upper part of the center pillar. In this case, the collision force can be transmitted to the panel member and the energy absorbing member without delay. As a result, the initial load of the energy absorbing member can be started more reliably and quickly. In addition, the top sealing can be positioned and fixed.
According to the energy absorbing member for protecting an occupant of an automobile according to the present invention, the occupant protection performance can be improved. Moreover, according to the energy absorbing member for protecting an occupant of an automobile according to the present invention, preferable load characteristics can be stably obtained.

First, the
As shown in FIG.7 (b), the

As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7B, the
Here, as will be described later, the

As shown in FIG. 7 (a), the
Next, an assembly structure of the
As shown in FIG. 6, the
As shown in FIG. 6, a predetermined gap S is formed between the
Here, at the time of attachment, the

The
As shown in FIG. 6, the
The number of the
Further, the cross-sectional shape and height of the

The

FIG. 8 is a schematic diagram for explaining the operation of the energy absorbing tube and the panel member according to the present embodiment. FIG. 9 is a diagram showing the concept of the load characteristics of the energy absorbing tube and the panel member according to the present embodiment. is there.
First, FIG. 8A shows a time when a passenger's head H comes into contact with the pillar trim 14 and a force starts to be transmitted to the panel member 70 (point A in FIG. 9) at the time of a side collision of the automobile. . As shown in FIG. 9, the load of the
In such a case, in the present embodiment, since the
Here, the
Next, FIG. 8B shows a case where the deformation of the
Here, the amount of collision energy absorbed by the occupant's head is determined by the product (integrated value) of the load applied to the occupant's head (the product of the head weight and acceleration) and the stroke amount (deformation amount). On the other hand, as shown by the head injury index HIC defined in the US standard (FMVSS201), the head injury index is the magnitude of the load when the head hits and the time (stroke amount) applied. It is known that it is necessary to reduce the average load (average acceleration) below a predetermined reference value in order to reduce injury to the head due to such a relationship.
Considering both the amount of absorbed energy and the head injury index, the smaller the average load, the smaller the injury to the head. On the other hand, a larger amount of stroke is required to obtain the required amount of absorbed energy. . However, in order to secure such a stroke amount, there is a limit due to the arrangement space and the like. Therefore, the ideal load characteristic is to start up the initial load in a time as short as possible (increase the rising angle of the load), and then change at a target load that satisfies the criteria for the head injury index.
FIG. 9 shows such a target load. In the present embodiment, as described above, the rising angle of the load is increased, and the initial load higher than the target value is obtained as indicated by point B in FIG. On the other hand, if the load changes as shown by a one-dot chain line in FIG. 9 with this initial load, the average load greatly exceeds the target load, and the head injury index is increased. In other words, conventionally, when the rigidity of the energy absorbing member is increased in an attempt to increase the rising slope of the generated load, the subsequent load itself also increases, and therefore, to keep the head injury index within the reference value, As a result, the rising angle could not be increased.
On the other hand, in the present embodiment, the initial load that is once largely raised is reduced by the
Here, in the present embodiment, a
As a result, according to the present embodiment, as shown by the solid line in FIG. 9, it is possible to stably obtain a more optimal load characteristic that allows the head injury index to fall within the reference value.
Further, the
Further, the load characteristic can be easily adjusted by providing the

Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. As shown in FIG. 10, in 2nd Embodiment, the part (lower edge part) 52a which opposes the
According to the energy absorbing structure according to the second embodiment formed as described above, the following operation is obtained in addition to the operation of the first embodiment described above. First, since the
Next, a third embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 11 is a cross-sectional view showing a part of the energy absorbing structure according to the third embodiment. In the third embodiment, the basic configuration is the same as that of the first embodiment described above, and FIG. 11 shows a cross section at the same position as the cross section shown in FIG.
In the third embodiment, the pillar trim 114 is relatively located on the outer side in the vehicle width direction with respect to the first embodiment described above. Therefore, the shape of the

According to the energy absorbing structure according to the third embodiment formed as described above, basically the same load characteristics as those of the first embodiment described above can be obtained. In particular, since the
Next, a fourth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 12 is a cross-sectional view showing a part of the energy absorbing structure according to the fourth embodiment. In the fourth embodiment, the basic configuration is the same as that of the first embodiment described above, and FIG. 12 shows a cross section at the same position as the cross section shown in FIG.
In the fourth embodiment, the
Further, the
According to the energy absorbing structure according to the fourth embodiment formed as described above, basically the same load characteristics as those of the first embodiment described above can be obtained. That is, in the fourth embodiment, the
Next, a fifth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 13 is a cross-sectional view showing a part of the energy absorbing structure according to the fifth embodiment. In the fifth embodiment, the basic configuration is the same as that of the first embodiment described above, and FIG. 13 shows a cross section at the same position as the cross section shown in FIG.
In the fifth embodiment, the
