BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a write head element and a wiring member electrically connected to a read head element of a thin film magnetic head used in, for example, a magnetic disk device (HDD), a suspension including the wiring member, and a thin film magnetic head and a suspension. The present invention relates to an installed head gimbal assembly (HGA).
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the HDD, the magnetic head slider attached to the tip of the HGA suspension is levitated from the surface of the rotating magnetic disk, and in this state, recording on the magnetic disk is performed by the write magnetic head element mounted on the magnetic head slider. And reading from the magnetic disk by the read magnetic head element mounted in the same manner.
[0003]
One end of each signal line is electrically connected to the terminal electrodes for the write magnetic head element and the read magnetic head element provided on the magnetic head slider, and the other end of these signal lines passes through the suspension. It is electrically connected to the external connection terminal provided at the rear end portion or the outside thereof.
[0004]
In recent years, a structure in which a lead wire is not used as a signal line to such a magnetic head slider, that is, a wiring member has become widespread. This is a structure using a wireless suspension or a flexible printed circuit (FPC).
[0005]
The wireless suspension is configured by directly forming a pattern in which a resin layer, a trace conductor layer, and a resin layer are sequentially laminated on the suspension as a wiring member, or a resin layer and a trace conductor on a stainless steel thin plate separate from the suspension. A layer and a resin layer are sequentially laminated and laser-welded onto the suspension.
[0006]
A structure using FPC as a wiring member is formed by forming a trace conductor layer on a resin layer and forming a resin coating layer thereon to form an FPC, and bonding this FPC onto a normal suspension. The
[0007]
In such a structure using the wireless suspension and the FPC, a pair of trace conductor layers connected to the two terminal electrodes of the write magnetic head element and a pair of traces connected to the two terminal electrodes of the read magnetic head element The conventional conductor patterns constituting the respective conductor layers are formed as a pair of parallel line patterns that are adjacent to each other at the same interval and have the same line width on both the writing side and the reading side. In particular, in a structure using an FPC, in order not to have high mechanical rigidity, the line width is made narrower and the interval is made narrower on both the writing side and the reading side.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
With the recent increase in capacity and recording density of HDDs, the frequency of recording signals has increased, and the capacity (capacitance) component and inductive (inductance) component of the wiring members cannot be ignored.
[0009]
In the future, when the capacity is further increased and a tunnel type giant magnetoresistive effect (TGMR) element or the like is used for the read head element, the element resistance is further increased due to its structure, so that the read frequency can be increased. Therefore, it is an important issue to further reduce the capacitance component of the wiring member. However, reducing the capacitance component of the wiring member leads to an increase in the inductive component, which causes a delay in the current rise time and deteriorates the write characteristics.
[0010]
Therefore, the present invention is to solve this problem of the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a wiring member, a suspension, and an HGA that can increase the read frequency and do not deteriorate the write characteristics. It is to provide.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to the present invention, a pair of write-side trace conductor layers whose one ends are electrically connected to a write head element of a thin film magnetic head when mounted, and a read head of a thin film magnetic head when mounted. A pair of read-side trace conductor layers, one pair of write-side trace conductor layers, and a pair of read-side trace conductor layers that are electrically connected at one end to the element are laminated on the upper surface and mounted. A wiring member having at least a resin layer whose lower surface is brought into contact with the ground conductor surface, in at least a part, that is, in a main part of the write side trace conductor layer and the read side trace conductor layer, A gap S between a pair of readout side trace conductor layers R Is a gap S between a pair of write side trace conductor layers W A larger wiring member is provided.
[0012]
According to the present invention, there is further provided a suspension including a metal support member and a wiring member laminated on the metal support member, and the write head element of the thin film magnetic head when the wiring member is mounted. A pair of write-side trace conductor layers whose one end is electrically connected to each other, and a pair of read-side trace conductor layers whose one end is electrically connected to the read head element of the thin film magnetic head when mounted. A pair of write side trace conductor layers and a pair of read side trace conductor layers are laminated on the upper surface, and the lower surface has at least a resin layer in contact with the metal support member; The gap S between the pair of read side trace conductor layers at least in part, ie, in the main part of the write side trace conductor layer and the read side trace conductor layer. R Is a gap S between a pair of write side trace conductor layers W A larger suspension is provided.
[0013]
According to the present invention, furthermore, a metal support member, a magnetic head slider mounted on the metal support member and having a write head element and a read head element, and a wiring member laminated on the metal support member, The wiring member includes a pair of write-side trace conductor layers whose one end is electrically connected to the write head element, and a pair whose one end is electrically connected to the read head element. A read-side trace conductor layer, a pair of write-side trace conductor layers and a pair of read-side trace conductor layers formed on the upper surface, and a resin layer whose lower surface is in contact with the metal support member; A gap between a pair of read side trace conductor layers, at least in part, i.e., in a major portion of the write side trace conductor layer and the read side trace conductor layer. R Is a gap S between a pair of write side trace conductor layers W A larger HGA is provided.
[0014]
The width W of each read-side trace conductor layer, at least in part, ie in the main part of the write-side trace conductor layer and the read-side trace conductor layer. R Is the width W of each write side trace conductor layer W Preferably it is smaller.

Capacitance component is to ground capacitance component C G And line capacitance component C L In the case of reducing the capacitance component of the wiring on the readout side, particularly in the tunnel type GMR element, the capacitance component to ground C G Rather than reducing the line capacitance component C L From the simulation results of the inventors of the present application, it has been found that better frequency characteristics can be obtained by reducing the frequency. Therefore, the line-to-line capacitance component C of the readout side trace conductor layer L To reduce the gap S R It is desirable to increase the value. On the writing side, the gap S between the trace conductor layers is thus obtained. W Increasing the value is undesirable because the induction component increases. Thus, at least in part, the gap S between the read side trace conductor layers R Only, this is the gap S between the pair of write side trace conductor layers S W The capacitance component of the wiring on the readout side is further reduced by expanding it to be larger.
[0018]
In addition to this, the capacitance component C to ground G Further reducing the capacitance also reduces the capacitance component of the wiring on the readout side. For this purpose, the width W of the read-side trace conductor layer R It is desirable to make the smaller. On the write side, the width W of the trace conductor layer is thus W If is made small, heat generation due to a write current becomes a problem, which is not desirable. Therefore, at least in part, the width W of the read side trace conductor layer R This is the width W of each write side trace conductor layer W It is more preferable to make it narrow so as to be smaller.
[0019]
Further, according to the present invention, the pair of write-side trace conductor layers whose one ends are electrically connected to the write head element of the thin film magnetic head when mounted, and the thin film magnetic head of the thin film magnetic head when mounted. A pair of read side trace conductor layers electrically connected at one end to the read head element, a pair of write side trace conductor layers and a pair of read side trace conductor layers are laminated on the upper surface; A wiring member having at least a resin layer whose bottom surface is brought into contact with the ground conductor surface when mounted, wherein the width and thickness of each readout side trace conductor layer are set to W R And T R And the gap between the pair of readout side trace conductor layers is S R When the thickness of the resin layer is D, in the main part of the readout side trace conductor layer, (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Is 5.7 or more.
[0020]
According to the present invention, there is further provided a suspension including a metal support member and a wiring member laminated on the metal support member, and the write head of the thin film magnetic head when the wiring member is mounted. A pair of write side trace conductor layers whose one end is electrically connected to the element, and a pair of read side trace conductor layers whose one end is electrically connected to the read head element of the thin film magnetic head when mounted. A pair of write-side trace conductor layers and a pair of read-side trace conductor layers are laminated on the upper surface, and at least a resin layer whose lower surface is in contact with the metal support member , The width and thickness of each readout side trace conductor layer is W R And T R And the gap between the pair of readout side trace conductor layers is S R When the thickness of the resin layer is D, in the main part of the readout side trace conductor layer, (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Is 5.7 or higher.
[0021]
According to the present invention, a metal support member, a magnetic head slider mounted on the metal support member and having a write head element and a read head element, and a wiring member laminated on the metal support member are provided. The HGA is provided with a wiring member having a pair of write-side trace conductor layers having one end electrically connected to the write head element and a pair having one end electrically connected to the read head element A read side trace conductor layer, a pair of write side trace conductor layers and a pair of read side trace conductor layers are laminated on the upper surface, and a resin layer whose lower surface is in contact with the metal support member. Having at least the width and thickness of each read side trace conductor layer as W R And T R And the gap between the pair of readout side trace conductor layers is S R When the thickness of the resin layer is D, in the main part of the readout side trace conductor layer, (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Is 5.7 or higher.
[0022]
Assuming that the trace conductor layers 13a and 13b have a unit length, as shown in FIG. 1, the area of the surface facing the ground conductor surface of each trace conductor layer on the readout side is W R The area of the surface in the wiring interval direction of each trace conductor layer on the readout side is T R It is represented by Therefore, the capacitance component C to ground of the wiring member on the readout side G Is W R / D and the line-to-line capacitance component C of the readout side wiring member L Is T R / S R It corresponds to. That is, (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Is C on the readout side trace conductor layer. G / C L Will be expressed. In the main part of the read side trace conductor layer, C G / C L That is, (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Of 5.7 or more, it has been found from the experimental results of the present inventors that the measured value of the line-to-line capacitance of the readout-side trace conductor layer in the frequency region of 100 MHz or more can be suppressed to 0.5 pF or less. .
[0023]
The metal supporting member has a flexure having elasticity for stabilizing the flying posture of the thin film magnetic head, that is, the magnetic head slider, and a load beam that supports the flexure and applies a load to the thin film magnetic head, that is, the magnetic head slider. It is preferable that it contains.
[0024]
It is also preferable that the read head element is a magnetic head element provided with a magnetoresistive effect (MR) film.

FIGS. 5 and 6 show the frequency characteristics of the capacitive component and the inductive component of the wiring members having different line intervals, respectively. In these drawings, A has a base film layer thickness of 35 μm, a line spacing of 50 μm, and a line width of 35 μm, and B has a base film layer thickness of 35 μm, a line spacing of 200 μm, and a line width of 35 μm. . In B where the line interval is widened, the capacitance component is smaller in all frequency bands. On the other hand, for A, which has the same line spacing as the conventional one, the inductive component is smaller than this. Therefore, the

FIG. 8 is a characteristic diagram showing the result of simulating the dependence of the frequency characteristics of the tunnel type GMR element on the ground capacitance, and (B) is an enlarged view of the main part of (A).
[0044]
As is apparent from these figures, the line capacitance component is C L = 1.0 (pF) to C L When the frequency falls to 0.5 (pF), the frequency characteristics are drastically improved. On the other hand, with respect to the ground capacitance component, C G = 6.0 (pF) to C G When the frequency is reduced to 3.0 (pF), the frequency characteristics are slightly improved, but not as much as in the case of the capacitance between lines. Accordingly, when reducing the capacitance component of the wiring on the reading side, particularly in the tunnel type GMR element, the capacitance component C to ground G Rather than reducing the line capacitance component C L It can be seen that better frequency characteristics can be obtained by reducing. Therefore, in the wiring on the readout side, the line capacitance component C L To reduce the gap S R It is desirable to increase the frequency in terms of obtaining good frequency characteristics.
[0045]
For the readout side wiring member, the

In Table 1, sample 1 is the dimension of the current wiring member. In order to suppress the capacitance between lines to 0.5 pF or less, as in Samples 7 to 11, C on the readout side trace conductor layer G / C L That is, (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Must be 7 or more. However, in actuality, the capacitance value in the high frequency band exceeding 100 MHz becomes a problem, so C G / C L If it is 5.7 or more, it will suffice.
[0048]
Thus, according to the present embodiment, the gap S between the read-side trace conductor layers R Is the write side trace conductor layer gap S W Further, the width W of the reading side trace conductor layer is set larger. R Is the width W of the write-side trace conductor layer W It is set smaller. As a result, the capacitance component only on the reading side can be reduced without causing an increase in inductive component on the writing side and an increase in heat generation, and the reading frequency characteristic can be greatly improved. Moreover, C on the reading side G / C L Therefore, the line capacitance in the high frequency region can be reduced, and the read frequency characteristics can be improved.

FIG. 10 shows the frequency characteristics of the capacitive components of the wiring members having different thicknesses of the base film layer, line intervals and line widths of the trace conductor layers, respectively. In the figure, a is a base film layer thickness of 18 μm, line spacing is 40 μm, and line width is 40 μm, and b is base film layer thickness of 50 μm, line spacing is 200 μm, and line width is 35 μm. In the case of b in which the line spacing is increased and the thickness of the base film layer is increased, the capacitance component is smaller in all frequency bands than in a. Moreover, in FIG. 10b, the capacitance component is smaller in all frequency bands than B shown in FIG. Therefore, it can be seen that better frequency characteristics can be obtained by increasing the thickness of the base film layer.
[0055]
Other configurations, changes, effects, and the like in the present embodiment are substantially the same as those in the embodiment of FIG.
[0056]
In the above-described embodiment, the FPC is used as the wiring member. However, as the wiring member, a structure in which a pattern in which a resin layer, a trace conductor layer, and a resin layer are sequentially laminated is directly formed on the suspension, or a suspension. It is clear that the present invention can be similarly applied to a wireless suspension having a structure in which a resin layer, a trace conductor layer, and a resin layer are sequentially laminated on separate stainless thin plates and laser-welded on the suspension. .
[0057]
The above-described embodiments are all illustrative of the present invention and are not limited to the present invention, and the present invention can be implemented in various other variations and modifications. Therefore, the scope of the present invention is defined only by the claims and their equivalents.
[0058]
【The invention's effect】
As described above in detail, in the present invention, the gap S between the pair of read side trace conductor layers is at least partially. R Is a gap S between a pair of write side trace conductor layers W Greater than. Capacitance component is to ground capacitance component C G And line capacitance component C L In the case of reducing the capacitance component of the wiring on the readout side, particularly in the tunnel type GMR element, the capacitance component to ground C G Rather than reducing the line capacitance component C L A better frequency characteristic can be obtained by reducing. Therefore, the line-to-line capacitance component C of the readout side trace conductor layer L To reduce the gap S R It is desirable to increase the value. On the writing side, the gap S between the trace conductor layers is thus obtained. W Increasing the value is undesirable because the induction component increases. Thus, at least in part, the gap S between the read side trace conductor layers R Between the pair of write side trace conductor layers S W The capacitance component of only the wiring on the reading side is further reduced by increasing the capacitance.
[0059]
In addition to this, the capacitance component C to ground G Further reducing the capacitance also reduces the capacitance component of the wiring on the readout side. For this purpose, the width W of the read-side trace conductor layer R It is desirable to make the smaller. On the write side, the width W of the trace conductor layer is thus W If is made small, heat generation due to a write current becomes a problem, which is not desirable. Therefore, at least in part, the width W of the read side trace conductor layer R The width W of each write side trace conductor layer W It is smaller.
[0060]
According to the present invention, the width and thickness of each readout side trace conductor layer is further set to W R And T R And the gap between the pair of readout side trace conductor layers is S R When the thickness of the resin layer is D, in the main part of the readout side trace conductor layer, (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Is 5.7 or more. This (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Is C on the readout side trace conductor layer. G / C L Will be expressed. In the main part of the read side trace conductor layer, C G / C L That is, (W R / D) / (T R / S R ) Of 5.7 or more, the measured value of the line-to-line capacitance of the readout-side trace conductor layer in the frequency region of 100 MHz or more can be suppressed to 0.5 pF or less.
