BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention monitors each other's reception quality between a mobile station and a base station and controls each transmission power, like a mobile communication system employing CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access). The present invention relates to a mobile communication system that performs power control.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a mobile communication system employing CDMA, power control is performed in which the communication quality between the mobile station and the base station is monitored and the transmission power is controlled.
[0003]
The radio wave attenuates as the transmission distance increases. When the distance between the mobile station and the base station is large, the mutual transmission power is increased. When the distance between the mobile station and the base station is small, it is possible to reduce the transmission power of each other and suppress the consumption of extra power. In addition, since the surrounding environment of the mobile station changes as it moves, the intensity of the received radio waves changes every moment.
[0004]
For this reason, in a mobile communication system employing CDMA, the communication quality between the mobile station and the base station is monitored, and the respective transmission power is controlled in real time. In a mobile communication system employing CDMA, the communication quality between the mobile station and the base station is kept substantially constant by performing such power control.
[0005]
For example, 9.6 Kbps is used for voice communication and 128 Kbps is used for data communication between mobile stations and base stations of such mobile communication systems. Yes. Furthermore, even in the same voice communication, the minimum transmission speed necessary to maintain the communication quality can be used from a plurality of transmission speeds (for example, 9.6 Kbps, 4.8 Kbps, 2.4 Kbps, 1.2 Kbps). It has become. The allocated transmission power (maximum transmission power) that can be transmitted between the mobile station and the base station is determined in advance according to the required transmission rate determined at the time of the mobile station subscription contract or the like.
[0006]
Further, in the base station, in order to prevent interference with other stations, the maximum total transmission power that can be simultaneously transmitted from the base station to a plurality of mobile stations is determined in advance. The number of mobile stations that can be connected to the base station at the same time is limited so that the total transmission power does not exceed the maximum total transmission power.
[0007]
FIG. 5 is an explanatory diagram of downlink transmission power of the mobile stations MS1 to MS3 in the base station.
In FIG. 5, BMP is the maximum total transmission power of the base station. As shown in the allocated transmission power in FIG. 5 (a), the mobile stations MS1, MS2, and MS3 connected to the base station have the maximum transmission power (allocated transmission power) MP1 determined according to their required transmission rates. , MP2 and MP3 are assigned. In addition, the mobile stations MS1, MS2, and MS3 are secured with the minimum transmission powers LP1, LP2, and LP3 necessary for maintaining the connection with the base station.
[0008]
The transmission power transmitted from the base station to the mobile stations MS1, MS2, and MS3 changes in real time by power control. As shown in the real-time transmission power in FIG. 5 (b), the total transmission power SRP of the transmission powers RP1, RP2, and RP3 that are actually used by the mobile stations MS1, MS2, and MS3 is usually assigned transmission powers MP1, MP2 And less than the total allocated transmission power SMP of MP3. The difference between the total allocated transmission power SMP and the real-time total transmission power SRP is the free transmission power. SLP is the minimum total transmission power of mobile stations MS1, MS2, and MS3 and the minimum total transmission power of LP1, LP2, and LP3.
[0009]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
FIG. 6 is an explanatory diagram of downlink transmission power of the mobile stations MS1 to MS4 in the base station.
In the base station shown in FIG. 5, when the mobile station MS4 newly requesting connection is permitted to connect, the mobile stations MS1, MS2, MS3 and The total assigned transmission power SMP ′ of the
Therefore, connection is not permitted to the mobile station MS4.
[0010]
As described above, in a mobile communication system that performs conventional power control, in fact, although there is free transmission power, based on the total allocated transmission power, connection permission for a mobile station that newly requests a connection is granted. Since the determination is made, there is a problem that the available transmission power cannot be used effectively.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of a mobile communication system according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0020]
The mobile communication system according to the embodiment of the present invention monitors the total transmission power in the base station in real time, and when the monitored total transmission power exceeds a predetermined threshold, the downlink of some mobile stations By reducing the allocated transmission power (maximum transmission power), the available transmission power is effectively used and the number of simultaneous connections of mobile stations is increased.
[0021]
FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating an outline of a method for controlling total transmission power in a base station.
In FIG. 1, BMP is the maximum total transmission power in the downlink of the base station. SMP and SMP ′ are the downlink total allocated transmission power of the base station, and SRP (SRP ′) is the total real-time downlink transmission power of the base station. TH1 is a first threshold value for determining whether the downlink total transmission power SRP of the base station is close to the maximum total transmission power BMP.
[0022]
In the base station, it is monitored whether or not the total downlink transmission power SRP exceeds the first threshold value TH1. When the total transmission power SRP exceeds the first threshold value TH1, the allocated transmission power is reduced so that the total allocation transmission power SMP (the maximum value of the total transmission power SRP) does not exceed the maximum total transmission power BMP. The allocated transmission power of some mobile stations that can be reduced is reduced.
[0023]
For example, it is assumed that the mobile stations MS1, MS2, and MS3 are connected to the base station as shown in the allocated transmission power before the change in FIG. The total allocated transmission power SMP of the mobile stations MS1, MS2 and MS3 is smaller than the maximum total transmission power BMP of the base station, and these real-time total transmission powers SRP are smaller than the first threshold value TH1. For this reason, the assigned transmission powers (maximum transmission power) MP1, MP2 and MP3 determined according to the respective required transmission rates are assigned to the mobile stations MS1, MS2 and MS3 as they are.
[0024]
Furthermore, it is assumed that a new connection is requested by the mobile station MS4. The total allocated transmission power SMP ′ of the mobile stations MS1, MS2, MS3 and MS4 exceeds the maximum total transmission power BMP of the base station. In the conventional mobile communication system, connection is not permitted to the mobile station MS4. In contrast, in the mobile communication system of this embodiment, it is monitored whether or not the total transmission power SRP exceeds the first threshold value TH1, and the total transmission power SRP does not exceed the first threshold value TH1. In some cases, connection is also permitted to the mobile station MS4.
[0025]
It is assumed that connection is permitted to the mobile station MS4 and the allocated transmission power MP4 is allocated. Then, as shown in the real-time transmission power of FIG. 1A, when the real-time total transmission power SRP ′ of the mobile stations MS1, MS2, MS3 and MS4 exceeds the first threshold value TH1, these movements are performed. A mobile station capable of reducing the allocated transmission power is selected from the stations MS1, MS2, MS3, and MS4.
[0026]
As shown in the allocation transmission power of the degree of change in FIG. 1C, here, the mobile stations MS3 and MS4 are selected, and the total allocation transmission power SMP ′ (the maximum value of the real-time total transmission power SRP ′) is the maximum. The assigned transmission power MP3 of the mobile station MS3 is reduced to MP3 ′ and the assigned transmission power MP4 of the mobile station MS4 is reduced to MP4 ′ so as not to exceed the total transmission power BMP. In order to reduce the allocated transmission power of the mobile station, the transmission speed of the mobile station is reduced.
[0027]
Note that one or more mobile stations may be selected so as to reduce the allocated transmission power (decrease the transmission rate). However, in an actual mobile communication system, mobile stations that are simultaneously connected to the base station. Are numerous. Therefore, it is desirable that there are a plurality of mobile stations selected to reduce the transmission rate.
[0028]
As described above, in the mobile communication system according to the embodiment, it is monitored whether the real-time total transmission power SRP exceeds the first threshold value TH1, and the total transmission power SRP exceeds the first threshold value TH1. The allocated transmission power of some mobile stations is reduced so that the total transmission power SMP (the maximum value of the real-time total transmission power SRP) does not exceed the maximum total transmission power BMP. Therefore, it is possible to effectively use the available transmission power and increase the number of simultaneous connections of mobile stations. The details of the mobile communication system of this embodiment will be described below.

【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, when the total downlink transmission power monitored by the monitoring means of the base station exceeds the first threshold, the transmission rate of some mobile stations is reduced, and the downlink transmission power is reduced. It is made smaller. Thus, the total allocated transmission power of the base station is controlled so as not to exceed the maximum total transmission power, and a connection opportunity can be given to another mobile station that newly requests a connection. Therefore, it is possible to effectively use the free transmission power of the base station and increase the number of simultaneous connections of mobile stations.Furthermore, it is possible to effectively secure free transmission power (difference between the maximum total transmission power and the actual total transmission power), and to give an opportunity for connection to another mobile station that newly requests connection.
