波長分散素子6aとしては、上記の回折格子7に限らず、他には、VIPA(Virtually Imaged PhaseArray)を用いることもできる。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a wavelength selective switch that selects wavelength-division-multiplexed light for each wavelength and outputs the selected light to a desired port, and more particularly to a wavelength selective switch capable of an all-optical cross-connect.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In order to accommodate traffic that has increased dramatically due to the spread of the Internet and to effectively utilize existing optical fiber networks, opticalization of networks by wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) communication is rapidly progressing. The current WDM communication is mainly a point-to-point network form, but progress toward a ring network and a mesh network has been studied. In each node constituting these future networks, an optical add / drop multiplexer (OADM) that performs branching / insertion of an arbitrary wavelength, an all-optical cross-connect device (Optical cross Connect: OXC) without conversion to electricity Thus, signal processing in the optical region becomes possible, and dynamic path setting / canceling based on wavelength information will be performed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a wavelength selective switch that can perform an all-optical cross-connect with a simple configuration in order to eliminate the above-described problems caused by the prior art.
[0022]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problems and achieve the object, the wavelength selective switch according to the present invention receives a plurality of wavelength-multiplexed lights, of In a wavelength selective switch that selects and outputs a plurality of input light according to wavelength, a plurality of light input / output ports through which a plurality of wavelength-multiplexed lights are input / output, and the light differs according to the polarization direction of the light The light is refracted and separated at a refraction angle. The light refracting plate has a plurality of light input / output positions on the light input / output port side and a single light output position on the inner side, and is emitted from the light refracting plate side. The light component for each wavelength contained in the light is separated and emitted in different directions, and the light incident from the emission direction is multiplexed and emitted to the photorefractive plate. The light emitted from the duplexer and the multiplexer / demultiplexer is classified according to the wavelength. Along the separated direction An optical system for making parallel light having a predetermined interval, and the light made parallel light by the optical system The polarization direction of light for each wavelength is adjusted by a plurality of polarization control elements arranged corresponding to the predetermined interval of It is selectively controllable, and comprises polarization control means for transmitting or reflecting incident light.
[0023]
According to this invention, the wavelength multiplexed light is separated for each wavelength by the wavelength dispersion element, and the polarization direction is controlled for each light of each wavelength component by the polarization control element. Thereafter, the light is multiplexed by the wavelength dispersion element and returned to the original wavelength-multiplexed light, and can be switched and output to a different path according to the polarization component of the light.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, after wavelength-multiplexed light input to the optical input port is dispersed by the wavelength dispersion element, the polarization control element changes the polarization direction of each light component for each wavelength. By performing control and re-multiplexing and outputting to different ports according to the polarization direction of light, light of an arbitrary wavelength component can be switched to another port and output. In addition, since light input from a plurality of optical input ports can be switched and output to a plurality of optical output ports for each wavelength, an all-optical cross-connect can be achieved.
