As a muffler of a general-purpose engine, a muffler provided with a muffler above or on the side of a cylinder block of the engine is put into practical use.
A practical general-purpose engine muffler was practically sufficient if the design of the muffler was appropriately changed according to the intended use of the engine.

As such a general-purpose engine muffler, one in which a muffler is directly attached to a side surface of a cylinder block is known (for example, see Patent Document 1).
Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 2-99214 (first page, FIG. 1)

FIG. 13 is a diagram for explaining a conventional basic configuration, and a muffler 300 of a general-purpose engine includes a lower housing 301 and an upper housing 302, and a partition wall 303 that partitions the housings 301 and 302. The lower housing 301 and the partition wall 303 form a first silencing chamber 304, and the upper housing 302 and the partition wall 303 form a second silencing chamber 305.

Further, the lower housing 301 is provided with an introduction port 308 for introducing exhaust gas from the exhaust port 307 of the cylinder block 306, the upper housing 302 is provided with an exhaust port 309 for discharging exhaust gas, and the partition wall 303 has a dome-shaped recess. 311 and exhaust communication ports 312 and 312 through which exhaust gas flows from the first silencing chamber 304 to the second silencing chamber 305 are provided.

However, in the muffler 300 of the general-purpose engine, an exhaust port 307 is provided on the side surface of the cylinder block 306, and exhaust gas is discharged from the exhaust port 307 to the first silencing chamber 304,
This exhaust gas is applied to the dome-shaped recess 311 formed in the first silencing chamber 304, and the dome-shaped recess 311 is applied to the partition wall 303 that partitions the first and second silencing chambers 304 and 305. For example, when the exhaust gas is applied to the dome-shaped recess 311, the exhaust gas cannot be cooled to reduce thermal energy.

Therefore, in the muffler 300 of the general-purpose engine, it is difficult to cool the exhaust gas in the muffler 300, and it is impossible to reduce the exhaust noise by cooling the exhaust gas and reducing the thermal energy.

That is, a muffler for a general-purpose engine that can reduce exhaust noise by cooling the exhaust gas in the muffler is desired.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a general-purpose engine muffler that can solve the difficulty of cooling the exhaust gas in the muffler and can reduce exhaust noise by cooling the exhaust gas in the muffler. And

The invention according to claim 1 is a general-purpose engine muffler connected to an exhaust port of an engine via an exhaust pipe. For example, if the exhaust gas can be cooled in the muffler, the thermal energy of the exhaust gas can be lost in the muffler, which is preferable in reducing exhaust noise.

Therefore, the muffler has an introduction pipe for introducing the exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe, a silencer chamber for sending the exhaust gas from the introduction pipe, a discharge pipe for releasing the exhaust gas from the silencer chamber to the outside, and these discharge pipes and A housing that houses the introduction pipe and forms a silencing chamber, and a housing that includes a lower housing formed on the exhaust pipe side and an upper housing that covers the lower housing. An inclined surface that is inclined with respect to a horizontal plane when the engine is leveled is formed, an introduction pipe is passed between the inclined surface and the upper housing, and the inclined surface side of the introduction pipe is connected to the exhaust pipe. The upper housing side of the introduction tube was closed with a lid member , and this lid member was exposed to the outside from the housing.

That is, the lower housing, the inclined surface is inclined relative to a horizontal plane when the engine in a horizontal state is formed, introduction pipe between the inclined surface and the upper housing are through, the inclined surface of the inlet tube The exhaust gas can be cooled when exhaust gas is applied to the lid member by connecting to the exhaust pipe , closing the upper housing side of the introduction pipe with the lid member , and facing this lid member from the housing to the outside.

Since FIG. 9 is a bottom view of the lower partition wall 96, the lower bulging portion 123 and the lower concave portion 124 are displayed as convex surfaces.

FIG. 10 is a plan view of the upper partition wall of the muffler of the general-purpose engine according to the present invention. A longitudinal opening 126 and a substantially rectangular opening 127, an upper bulging portion 129 that forms an upper portion of the through-hole 128 that penetrates the introduction pipe 85 shown in FIG. 7 and accommodates a discharge pipe (outlet pipe) 97, and a discharge pipe ( (Outlet pipe) 97 and the upper concave portion 131 for accommodating the sound absorbing material 98 and the third portion from the second silencing chamber 102 (see FIG. 7) by opening the upper bulging portion 129 to the third silencing chamber 103 side. A gas hole 132 for introducing exhaust gas into the noise reduction chamber.

In addition, since FIG. 10 is a top view of the upper partition wall 96, the upper bulging part 129 and the upper recessed part 131 are displayed as a convex surface. Further, the third silencing chamber 103 shown in FIG. 7 includes an upper bulging portion 129 and a lower bulging portion 123 (see FIG. 9), and the sound absorbing material storage portion 104 shown in FIG. The concave portion 124 (see FIG. 9) is used.

FIG. 11 is a front sectional view of the muffler of the general-purpose engine according to the present invention. The discharge pipe (exit pipe) 97 is closed by applying one end to the third silencing chamber 103 and the other end (opening port 135). This pipe is open to the outside, and communicates with a gas hole group 133 formed at one end for introducing exhaust gas from the third silencing chamber 103 and a sound absorbing material (glass wool) 98 stored in the sound absorbing material storing portion 104.
FIG. 12 is a perspective view of the muffler of the general-purpose engine according to the present invention, and shows the flow of exhaust gas.
Exhaust gas is caused to flow from the exhaust pipe 43 (see FIG. 7) into the inlet pipe opening (one end) 106 as indicated by a broken line arrow a1, and the exhaust gas flowing into the inlet pipe 85 is supplied to the lid member (other end) 107 of the inlet pipe 85. Hit it.

At this time, since the lid member 107 faces the outside from the upper housing (housing) 93, the exhaust gas can be cooled when the exhaust gas is applied to the lid member 107. As a result, the thermal energy of the exhaust gas can be reduced, and the exhaust noise can be reduced.

Further, the cooling effect can be promoted by projecting the lid member 107 from the upper housing (housing) 93. As a result, the thermal energy of the exhaust gas can be further reduced, and the exhaust noise can be further reduced.

The exhaust gas whose temperature has been lowered in advance is U-turned by the lid member 107 as indicated by a broken line arrow a2, and flows into the first muffler chamber 101 from the introduction pipe side gas holes 108 as indicated by broken line arrows a3 and a3. In order to flow the exhaust gas in the introduction pipe 85 as indicated by the broken arrow a1 to the arrow a2, the exhaust pipe 43 (see FIG. 7) is coaxially connected to the introduction pipe 85 in the vicinity of the introduction pipe 85 side of the muffler 40. A bent portion 86 was formed.

That is, in the introduction pipe 85, the flow of the exhaust gas directed from one end (exhaust pipe 43 side) to the other end of the introduction pipe 85, and the exhaust gas that is U-turned at the other end (lid member 107 side) and directed to one end. A flow can be created smoothly. As a result, a further exhaust gas cooling effect can be promoted.

After exhausting the exhaust gas in the first silencing chamber 101 as indicated by broken arrows a4 and a4 and broken arrows a5 and a5, the exhaust gas is passed through the gas holes 121... As indicated by arrows a6 and a6 and arrows a7 and a7. As shown in FIG.

Next, exhaust gas flows from the second silencing chamber 102 into the third silencing chamber 103 as indicated by arrows a8 and a8 and arrows a9 and a9.

Then, the third silencer 103 is caused to flow into the discharge pipe 97 as indicated by broken line arrows a10 and 10, and the exhaust gas is caused to flow into the discharge pipe 97 as indicated by broken line arrows a11. The glass wool 98 is flown as indicated by the broken arrow a12. Then, exhaust gas sufficiently cooled and silenced is discharged from the discharge pipe 97 to the outside as indicated by arrows a13 and a13.

By the way, the muffler 40 is configured such that the introduction pipe 85 is substantially orthogonal to the discharge pipe (exit pipe) 97 and is introduced by making the introduction pipe 85 substantially orthogonal to the discharge pipe (exit pipe) 97. Each of the pipe 85 and the discharge pipe (exit pipe) 97 can be formed long. As a result, exhaust noise can be reduced.
