Description
The present invention relates to an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine in which an oxidation catalyst is disposed in an exhaust passage upstream of a particulate filter, and more particularly to a technique for forcibly regenerating the PM trapping ability of a particulate filter.
By the way, a catalyst having an oxidizing ability (hereinafter simply referred to as an oxidizing catalyst) has a higher oxidizing ability as the amount of exhaust gas flowing into it decreases, in other words, as the flow rate of exhausted exhaust gas decreases, but the PM collected by the particulate filter. Has the conflicting characteristic that the oxidation rate increases as the amount of exhaust gas flowing in increases. For this reason, in the conventional technology described above, PM collected by the particulate filter may not be suitably oxidized and removed.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to capture in a particulate filter in an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine in which a catalyst having oxidizing ability is disposed in an exhaust passage upstream of the particulate filter. An object of the present invention is to provide a technique capable of suitably oxidizing and removing collected PM.
The present invention employs the following means in order to solve the above-described problems.
A feature of the present invention is that, in an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine in which an oxidation catalyst is disposed in an exhaust passage upstream of a particulate filter, a PM forced regeneration process for forcibly oxidizing and removing PM trapped in the particulate filter is performed. When executed, by increasing the amount of exhaust flowing into the particulate filter relative to the amount of exhaust flowing into the oxidation catalyst, in other words, the amount of exhaust flowing into the oxidation catalyst relative to the amount of exhaust flowing into the particulate filter Is to increase the PM oxidation rate in the particulate filter while increasing the oxidation ability of the oxidation catalyst.
Specifically, the exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to the present invention is generated by an oxidation catalyst provided in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, a particulate filter provided in an exhaust passage downstream of the oxidation catalyst, and the oxidation catalyst. Regeneration means for performing a forced PM regeneration process for forcibly oxidizing and removing particulates collected by the particulate filter by raising the temperature of the particulate filter using reaction heat, and during the forced PM regeneration process Exhaust flow rate adjusting means for increasing the exhaust amount flowing into the particulate filter relative to the exhaust amount flowing into the oxidation catalyst may be provided.
In the exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine configured as described above, the exhaust flow rate adjusting means increases the exhaust amount flowing into the particulate filter from the exhaust amount flowing into the oxidation catalyst when the PM forced regeneration process is being executed. To do.
When the amount of exhaust flowing into the particulate filter is made larger than the amount of exhaust flowing into the oxidation catalyst, the exhaust flowing into the particulate filter increases while the increase in the flow rate of the exhaust flowing into the oxidation catalyst is suppressed. For this reason, it becomes possible to raise PM oxidation rate in a particulate filter, suppressing the oxidation ability fall of an oxidation catalyst.
As a method of increasing the amount of exhaust flowing into the particulate filter from the amount of exhaust flowing into the oxidation catalyst, a method of supplying secondary air into the exhaust downstream of the oxidation catalyst and upstream of the particulate filter, upstream of the oxidation catalyst A method in which at least a part of the flowing exhaust gas is led to the particulate filter by bypassing the oxidation catalyst, or a part of the exhaust gas flowing downstream from the particulate filter is recirculated into the exhaust gas downstream from the oxidation catalyst and upstream from the particulate filter. A method etc. can be illustrated.
According to the method of supplying secondary air to the exhaust passage downstream of the oxidation catalyst and upstream of the particulate filter, and the method of recirculating exhaust gas from the downstream of the particulate filter to the downstream of the oxidation catalyst and upstream of the particulate filter, It is possible to increase the exhaust amount flowing into the particulate filter without increasing the exhaust amount flowing into the catalyst.
In other words, the amount of exhaust flowing into the particulate filter increases without increasing the flow rate of the exhaust flowing into the oxidation catalyst. As a result, the PM oxidation rate in the particulate filter can be increased while maintaining the oxidation ability of the oxidation catalyst high.
When the secondary air is supplied to the exhaust passage downstream from the oxidation catalyst and upstream from the particulate filter, there is a concern that the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the particulate filter is lowered due to the mixing of the secondary air.
However, since the oxidation ability of the oxidation catalyst is maintained high, a relatively large amount of oxidation reaction heat is generated in the oxidation catalyst. When a relatively large amount of heat of oxidation reaction is generated in the oxidation catalyst, the exhaust temperature flowing out of the oxidation catalyst becomes sufficiently high.
Therefore, even when the secondary air is mixed into the exhaust gas downstream from the oxidation catalyst and upstream from the particulate filter, the temperature of the exhaust gas flowing into the particulate filter does not decrease excessively.
When a catalyst having an oxidizing ability is supported on the particulate filter, the reducing agent may be supplied together with the secondary air into the exhaust gas downstream from the oxidation catalyst and upstream from the particulate filter. In this case, since the reducing agent is oxidized by the catalyst supported on the particulate filter, the particulate filter is maintained at a high temperature by the oxidation reaction heat generated at that time.
According to the method of bypassing the oxidation catalyst and guiding at least a part of the exhaust gas flowing upstream from the oxidation catalyst to the particulate filter, the exhaust amount flowing into the oxidation catalyst is reduced without reducing the exhaust amount flowing into the particulate filter. It becomes possible to decrease.
In other words, the flow rate of the exhaust gas flowing into the oxidation catalyst is lowered without decreasing the exhaust gas amount flowing into the particulate filter. As a result, P in the particulate filter
It becomes possible to enhance the oxidation ability of the oxidation catalyst while maintaining the M oxidation rate high.
Furthermore, according to the method in which at least a part of the exhaust gas flowing upstream from the oxidation catalyst is led to the particulate filter by bypassing the oxidation catalyst, the exhaust gas flows as if the internal combustion engine has shifted from the high load operation state to the idle operation state. In the case where the temperature of the curative filter is likely to overheat, it is also possible to suppress the excessive temperature rise of the particulate filter.
For example, when the internal combustion engine shifts from the high load operation state to the idle operation state, the exhaust amount discharged from the internal combustion engine decreases, and accordingly, the exhaust amount flowing into the particulate filter also decreases. When the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the particulate filter decreases, the amount of heat transferred from the particulate filter to the exhaust gas decreases, so that the temperature of the particulate filter is difficult to decrease.
In this way, when all of the exhaust gas discharged from the internal combustion engine flows into the particulate filter via the oxidation catalyst in a situation where the temperature of the particulate filter is difficult to decrease, the oxidation catalyst is not discharged when the exhaust gas passes through the oxidation catalyst. Receives heat and raises temperature. For this reason, the exhaust gas temperature at the time of flowing into the particulate filter increases. As a result, the amount of heat transferred from the particulate filter to the exhaust gas is further reduced, or the amount of heat transferred from the exhaust gas to the particulate filter is increased, which may cause the particulate filter to overheat.
In contrast, when at least part of the exhaust discharged from the internal combustion engine bypasses the oxidation catalyst and flows into the particulate filter, the temperature of the exhaust flowing into the particulate filter is lowered by the low-temperature exhaust bypassing the oxidation catalyst. Therefore, excessive temperature rise of the particulate filter is suppressed.
Further, according to the method in which at least a part of the exhaust gas flowing upstream from the oxidation catalyst is guided to the particulate filter by bypassing the oxidation catalyst, the deceleration fuel cut operation is continued for a relatively long time, such as when traveling on a downhill road. In addition, the oxidation catalyst can be prevented from being cooled by the low-temperature exhaust.
When the particulate filter according to the present invention is a particulate filter carrying a catalyst having oxidation ability, when the exhaust amount flowing into the particulate filter is increased with respect to the exhaust amount flowing into the oxidation catalyst, You may make it further provide the reducing agent addition valve which adds a reducing agent to the exhaust_gas | exhaustion which flows downstream from an oxidation catalyst and upstream from a particulate filter.
This is because if the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the oxidation catalyst is relatively small and the large amount of reducing agent is supplied into the exhaust upstream of the oxidation catalyst, the oxidation catalyst may overheat. That is, when the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the oxidation catalyst decreases, the oxidation ability of the oxidation catalyst increases and the amount of heat transferred from the oxidation catalyst to the exhaust gas decreases. Under such circumstances, if a large amount of reducing agent is supplied to the oxidation catalyst, the oxidation reaction heat generated in the oxidation catalyst increases, which may cause the oxidation catalyst to overheat.
On the other hand, when the reducing agent can be supplied into the exhaust gas downstream of the oxidation catalyst and upstream of the particulate filter, the amount of the reducing agent supplied into the exhaust gas upstream of the oxidation catalyst can be reduced. When the amount of reducing agent supplied into the exhaust gas upstream of the oxidation catalyst is reduced, the amount of heat of oxidation reaction generated in the oxidation catalyst is prevented from becoming excessive, and thus the overheating of the oxidation catalyst is prevented.
According to the present invention, in an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine in which an oxidation catalyst is disposed in an exhaust passage upstream of the particulate filter, the particulate filter is supplied to the particulate filter with respect to the exhaust amount flowing into the oxidation catalyst during execution of the PM forced regeneration process. Since the amount of exhaust gas flowing in increases, it is possible to increase the PM oxidation rate of the particulate filter while suppressing a reduction in the oxidation ability of the oxidation catalyst. As a result, it is possible to suitably oxidize and remove PM collected by the particulate filter.
Specific embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

When the opening degree of the intake throttle valve 8 is decreased, the intake air amount of the
When exhaust gas having a high temperature and a low flow rate flows into the
When the exhaust gas whose temperature is increased in this way flows into the
By the way, the PM collected by the
On the other hand, when the amount of intake air of the
However, when the secondary air is supplied to the

Therefore, in this embodiment, by supplying secondary air to the
In this case, the PM oxidation rate is increased without reducing the oxidation ability of the
Hereinafter, the PM regeneration control of this embodiment will be described in detail with reference to FIG. FIG. 2 is a flowchart showing a PM regeneration control routine. This PM regeneration control routine is a routine that is repeatedly executed by the

In S105, the
If an affirmative determination is made in S105, the

If a negative determination is made in S107, the
If an affirmative determination is made in S107, the
If a negative determination is made in S105, the
Thus, when the
When only the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the
When the
In the present embodiment, since the reducing agent (fuel) is also supplied downstream from the
Further, when the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the
On the other hand, by reducing the amount of reducing agent supplied to the oxidation catalyst 11 (reducing the post injection amount) and increasing the amount of reducing agent supplied from the
When the
In this case, as shown in FIG. 4, the
In response to this, when the intake air amount Ga becomes smaller than the predetermined amount Ga1 during execution of the PM forced regeneration process, the
On the other hand, when the
When secondary air is supplied to the exhaust passage upstream of the
In the present embodiment, the example in which the
Further, in this embodiment, as a method of increasing the inflow gas amount of the
Since there is a high possibility that the pressure in the
In this way, the exhaust gas recirculation method is effective when the
Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. Here, a configuration different from that of the first embodiment will be described, and description of the same configuration as that of the first embodiment will be omitted.
The difference between the first embodiment and the present embodiment is that, in the first embodiment, the exhaust amount flowing into the

In this embodiment, the
FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing a PM regeneration control routine in the present embodiment. Since S201 to S202 in this PM regeneration control routine are the same as S101 to S102 in the PM regeneration control routine in the first embodiment, description thereof will be omitted.
In S203, the
In S204, the
In S205, the
If an affirmative determination is made in S205, the

In this case, the exhaust amount flowing into the

As in the first embodiment, the engine speed may be used as a parameter instead of the intake air amount Ga in S204 to S205 described above.
In S207, the
When a negative determination is made in S205 described above, the
As described above, when the
When only the exhaust amount flowing into the
By the way, the exhaust gas flowing out from the
In this embodiment, an example in which the flow
When the
When all the exhaust gas discharged from the
On the other hand, if the flow
Further, when the deceleration fuel cut operation is continued for a relatively long time, such as when traveling on a downhill road, the
Further, when the amount of exhaust gas flowing into the
However, when the temperature of the exhaust gas discharged from the
Next, a third embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. Here, the configuration different from the first described above will be described, and the description of the same configuration as the first embodiment will be omitted.

If an affirmative determination is made in S305, the
In this case, all the exhaust gas discharged from the
If a negative determination is made in S305, the

If a negative determination is made in S307, the
