[0001]
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a vulcanized adhesive composition. More specifically, the present invention relates to a vulcanized adhesive composition that effectively bonds a metal plate and rubber such as nitrile rubber and acrylic rubber.
[0002]
[Prior art]
The present applicant has previously proposed a vulcanized adhesive composition having a novolac type phenol resin as an adhesive component, which is used for vulcanization adhesion between a metal and nitrile rubber or acrylic rubber (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-121020). ), In which a novolac type phenol resin synthesized from m-cresol / p-cresol mixture and formaldehyde is used as an adhesive component, and a resol type phenol resin is added to this as a curing agent to vulcanize adhesive composition Is formed.
[0003]
More specifically, the resol type phenol resin is o- and / or p with respect to phenolic hydroxyl groups such as phenol, m-cresol / p-cresol mixture, p-tert-butylphenol, p-phenylphenol, bisphenol A and the like. It is said to be obtained by reacting phenols having a divalent or trivalent substitutable nuclear hydrogen atom at the -position with formaldehyde in the presence of a basic catalyst (alkali metal, magnesium hydroxide, etc.). In Reference Example 3 of the publication, m-cresol / p-cresol mixture and formaldehyde, in Reference Example 4 bisphenol A and formaldehyde, and in Reference Example 5 phenol and formaldehyde, barium hydroxide, Resol type phenol resin is obtained by reacting in the presence of octahydrate catalyst.
[0004]
The vulcanized adhesive composition using the resol type phenol resin thus obtained as a curing agent for the novolak type phenol resin, which is an adhesive component, is effective for vulcanization adhesion between a stainless steel plate and nitrile rubber or acrylic rubber. Although it can be used, when this stainless steel sheet laminated with nitrile rubber or acrylic rubber is used for liquid resistance applications such as water, ethylene glycol, alcohol, etc., as shown in the results of Comparative Example 9 below, I was not satisfied.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
An object of the present invention is a vulcanized adhesive composition capable of effectively bonding a metal plate and a rubber such as nitrile rubber or acrylic rubber, and can be sufficiently adapted to liquid-resistant applications such as water, ethylene glycol, and alcohol. To provide things.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An object of the present invention is to provide a vulcanized adhesive composition comprising 5 to 65% by weight of an alkyl group-modified novolak type phenol resin and 95 to 35% by weight of a resol type phenol resin synthesized in the presence of an ammonia catalyst or an amine catalyst. Achieved by things. Moreover, it is preferable to further contain hexamethylenetetramine or the like as a curing agent in the vulcanized adhesive composition.
[0007]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The novolak type phenolic resin which is one component of the vulcanized adhesive composition has two o- and / or p-positions with respect to the phenolic hydroxyl group such as m-cresol, p-cresol and p-tert-butylphenol. Or alkyl group-substituted phenols having a trivalent substitutable nuclear hydrogen atom or mixtures thereof, preferably the ratio of m-cresol to p-cresol is 8/2 to 2/8, preferably 8/2 to 4 / A product obtained by reacting the mixture of 6 with formaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst such as hydrochloric acid, oxalic acid, maleic acid or the like is used. Here, as the m-cresol / p-cresol mixture, a residue obtained by removing o-cresol as a first fraction from a cresol 3-isomer mixture obtained from coal tar can also be used. Formaldehyde is used in a molar ratio of about 0.75 to 0.85 with respect to these alkyl group-substituted phenols, preferably when the product has a softening point of 80 to 160 ° C. and an m-cresol / p-cresol mixture is used. Novolak type phenolic resin produced under conditions such that the temperature is 120 ° C. or higher is used. Those having a softening point of 160 ° C. or higher cannot be produced due to gelation of the resin.
[0008]
In addition, as the resol type phenol resin as the other component, two or three in the o- and / or p-position with respect to phenol or hydroxyl group such as m-cresol, p-cresol, p-tert-butylphenol, etc. Ammonia, triethylamine, triethanolamine, hexamethylenetetramine, piperazine, etc. using alkyl group-substituted phenols having a valence of a replaceable nuclear hydrogen atom or a mixture thereof and formaldehyde in a molar ratio of 1/1 to 1/3 Ammonia-based or amine-based catalysts, preferably those obtained by reaction in the presence of ammonia or hexamethylenetetramine are used. These catalysts are used in a molar ratio of about 0.1 to 0.5 per mole of phenols. As the resol type phenol resin, water whose water is distilled from the reaction mixture, the gelation time at that time is measured every few minutes, and the gelation time (150 ° C.) becomes about 110 seconds is used.
[0009]
These novolak type phenolic resins and resol type phenolic resins are 5 to 65% by weight, preferably 10 to 50% by weight of novolak type phenolic resin, and 95 to 35% by weight, preferably 90 to 50% by weight. What was mixed in the ratio is used. When the proportion of the novolac type phenol resin is higher than this, the water-resistant adhesive property is lowered, and when the novolac type phenol resin synthesized from the m-cresol / p-cresol mixture is used, the LLC resistance is higher. , Will become lower as it gets longer. On the other hand, when the ratio of the novolak type phenol resin is less than this, the adhesiveness to rubber is lowered.
[0010]
The vulcanized adhesive composition comprising each of these components has an organic solvent, for example, alcohols such as methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl, so that the solid content concentration is about 0.5 to 10% by weight. It is prepared and used as a single or mixed solution of ketones such as isobutyl ketone. In this vulcanized adhesive composition, hexamethylenetetramine, triethylamine, triethanolamine and the like as a curing agent are added in an amount of about 100 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of each component of the vulcanized adhesive composition which is a phenol resin adhesive. It is preferable to add about 2 to 15 parts by weight. Addition of hexamethylenetetramine or the like enables baking in a short time and improves the LLC resistance of the obtained adhesive for a long time.
[0011]
Application of the phenol resin adhesive solution to the metal plate can be performed by any method such as brush coating, dipping, spraying, spraying, roll coater, etc., and the applied adhesive solution can be applied at room temperature or After drying with warm air, baking is performed at about 100 to 250 ° C. for about 1 to 20 minutes to form an adhesive layer on the metal plate with a film thickness of about 0.1 to 15 μm, preferably about 1 to 6 μm.
[0012]
As the metal plate, the type of the metal plate to be used, such as stainless steel, mild steel, brass, aluminum, aluminum die casting, is not particularly limited. As stainless steel, stainless steel plates such as SUS304, 430, 301, 301H are preferably used, and these stainless steel plates are used after surface cleaning treatment such as degreasing and alkali cleaning, but they contain chromate containing Cr +6. Used without any treatment.
[0013]
On the adhesive layer formed in this manner, an unvulcanized rubber compound is bonded or a rubber solution in which the unvulcanized rubber compound is dispersed in a solvent is coated, and heated and vulcanized while applying pressure as necessary. Thus, the rubber is bonded and, for example, an unvulcanized nitrile rubber compound or an acrylic rubber compound is bonded to one or both sides of the metal so that a single-side vulcanized layer of about 5 to 120 μm is formed. For example, when used as a gasket material, a nitrile rubber compound or an acrylic rubber compound forms a vulcanized layer having a hardness (durometer A) of 80 or more and a compression set (100 ° C., 22 hours) of 50% or less. It is not limited by the content of the blend, as long as it is squeezed. The bonded rubber layers are heated and vulcanized at about 150 to 230 ° C. for about 0.5 to 30 minutes, and in some cases, pressure vulcanized. For products having unfavorable surface tackiness, an anti-sticking agent is also applied to the rubber layer surface of the rubber laminated metal sheet.
[0014]
【The invention's effect】
The vulcanized adhesive composition according to the present invention is applied once as a phenolic adhesive for vulcanizing and bonding a metal plate not subjected to surface treatment or primer treatment to nitrile rubber or acrylic rubber. In addition to being able to bond effectively, it has excellent liquid resistance against water, ethylene glycol, alcohol and the like. Especially when novolak type phenolic resin is synthesized from m-cresol / p-cresol mixture, it has excellent liquid resistance against long life coolant (LLC). It can be suitably used as a metal gasket for machine tools.
[0015]
【Example】
Next, the present invention will be described with reference to examples.
[0016]
Reference example 1
Add 149 g (1.38 mol) of m-cresol / p-cresol (6/4) mixture to the reaction kettle, add 2 g of oxalic acid dihydrate while heating to 95 ° C, and gently boil the mixture while stirring At such a rate, 89.2 g (1.10 mol) of 37% aqueous formaldehyde is added. After the total amount of formaldehyde was added, the temperature was maintained for about 3 hours, and then water was distilled off by atmospheric distillation, followed by heating to 160 ° C. in vacuo to remove unreacted cresol. Thereafter, the reaction product was taken out and cooled to obtain a novolac type phenol resin A having a softening point of 140 ° C.
[0017]
Reference example 2
In Reference Example 1, a novolac-type phenol resin B having a softening point of 110 ° C. was obtained using the same molar amount of phenol instead of the cresol mixture.
[0018]
Reference example 3
A reaction vessel was charged with 94 g (1 mol) of phenol, 123 g (1.5 mol) of 37% formaldehyde aqueous solution and 3 g of ammonia, and the mixture was heated at 70 ° C. with stirring for 2 hours. After the stirring was stopped and the mixture was cooled, 10% sulfuric acid was added to adjust the pH of the reaction mixture to 6-7. Next, water was removed by vacuum distillation, the gelation time was measured every few minutes, and vacuum distillation was continued until the gelation time (150 ° C.) reached 110 seconds to obtain a resol type phenolic resin A. . In the case of storing this resol type phenol resin, a 50 wt% methanol solution was used.
The gelation time was measured according to the following procedure.
(1) Check with a surface thermometer that the surface temperature at the center of the cure plate is 150 ± 0.5 ° C.
(2) Using a 2 ml dropper, drop 1 ml of the sample onto the center of the cure plate and simultaneously start the stopwatch. Using a preheated spatula, quickly spread the sample to a size of about 50 x 50 mm. Knead while pressing lightly and evenly so as not to spread too much at the speed of one reciprocation per second.
(3) When the sample gradually thickened, the spatula was lifted from time to time, the end point was when no thread was drawn between the sample and the spatula, the time of the stopwatch was read, and this was taken as the gel time.
