Description
The present invention relates to an optical fiber manufacturing method and an optical fiber manufacturing apparatus used for high-speed spinning of an optical fiber.
Optical fiber strands are usually coated on the outer periphery of the bare optical fiber with a curable resin having a relatively low Young's modulus to form a primary coating layer, and then the outer periphery of the primary coating layer is cured with a relatively high Young's modulus. It is obtained by coating with a functional resin to form a secondary coating layer. Thus, the coating process which coat | covers an optical fiber bare wire is performed as a part of manufacturing process of an optical fiber strand.

The primary coated
The manufacturing process of the optical fiber is performed on the vertical line from the upper side to the lower side in order to avoid obstacles due to uneven thickness of the coating layer.
In recent years, various problems have occurred in the coating process as the production of optical fiber has been speeded up and lengthened.
For example, when the
As the primary coating
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, even in the production of high-speed, long-length optical fiber, preventing voids from occurring in the secondary coating layer, smoothing the coating process, and An object of the present invention is to provide an optical fiber manufacturing method and an optical fiber manufacturing apparatus for obtaining a high-quality optical fiber.
In the method for manufacturing an optical fiber according to claim 1 of the present invention, a primary coating layer is formed by coating a curable resin for primary coating on the outer periphery of a bare optical fiber, and curing the curable resin for primary coating. To form a primary coated optical fiber, and the outer periphery of the primary coated optical fiber is coated with a curable resin for secondary coating by a secondary coating apparatus, and the curable resin for secondary coating is cured and the secondary coating is performed. An optical fiber manufacturing method comprising a coating step of forming a layer to form an optical fiber, wherein the primary coating optical fiber before being introduced into the secondary coating apparatus is used for the primary coating. A purge gas having a temperature for melting the solidified volatile matter contained in the curable resin is blown.
The method for manufacturing an optical fiber according to
An apparatus for manufacturing an optical fiber according to claim 3 of the present invention includes a primary curing device that cures a curable resin for primary coating coated on an outer periphery of a bare optical fiber, and the primary coating device using the primary curing device. A secondary coating device that coats the outer periphery of the primary coated optical fiber obtained by curing the curable resin of the secondary coating, and the secondary coating device between the primary curing device and the secondary coating device. A purge section continuously provided in the secondary coating apparatus, and a tapered tube that gradually increases in diameter in the traveling direction of the primary coated optical fiber, wherein the primary coated optical fiber is introduced and led out in a non-contact manner; And a purge gas blowing unit that is provided in a large diameter portion of the conduit unit and blows a purge gas into the conduit unit, wherein the purge gas is introduced into the purge gas blowing unit. Tube is in contact It is, in the purge gas inlet tube, characterized in that the purge gas heating unit for heating the purge gas before blown into the said conduit portion is provided.
According to the present invention, in the coating step, the purge gas at a temperature that melts the solidified volatile component contained in the curable resin for primary coating with respect to the primary coated optical fiber before being introduced into the secondary coating apparatus. Since the volatile matter solidified in the coating port can be efficiently removed, the generation of voids in the secondary coating layer can be prevented.
Hereinafter, an optical fiber coating method and an optical fiber coating apparatus embodying the present invention will be described in detail.

The optical fiber manufacturing apparatus in this embodiment includes a
In this optical fiber manufacturing apparatus, the
The
The
The large-
The opening diameter of the
For example, if the outer diameter of the primary coated
When the opening diameter of the
The taper angle and the length of the
In addition, the
The purge
The purge
In this embodiment, a
In this embodiment, an example in which the
However, when the
Further, in this embodiment, an example in which one
FIG. 4 shows an example in which two purge units are installed in series.
In this example, the first purge unit 30 and the
Also in this example, at least the first purge portion 30 has a tapered
Two or more purge portions may be arranged in a double umbrella shape so that all of the conduit portions have a taper that gradually increases in diameter in the traveling direction of the primary coated
Next, with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, one Embodiment of the manufacturing method of the optical fiber strand based on this invention is described.
The optical fiber preform 1 is melt-spun at about 2000 ° C. in a

In this embodiment, the primary coating
That is, the
Further, since the
The temperature for melting the volatile component is preferably 35 ° C. or higher and 80 ° C. or lower, and more preferably 30 ° C. or higher and 50 ° C. or lower. If the temperature of the
