Description
図2のフローチャートに戻って、ステップS6では、切換バルブ4の開制御が複数回実施済みであるから遅れ時間Tfが設定済みであり、リッチスパイク制御を継続し、ステップS8で、リッチスパイク制御開始(ステップS5)からの経過時間TcがステップS7で設定した遅れ時間Tf以上か否かを判定する。条件が成立すればステップS9に進んで切換バルブ4に開指令を出力し、中流側メイン通路3内の空気とバイパス通路11、14からのリッチな排気とを混合させて混合気の空燃比を理論空燃比としてメイン触媒コンバータ8に導入する。一方、条件が不成立であれば、ステップS10に進んで切換バルブ4を閉じたままにして、ステップS8に戻る。

Claims (4)
- 内燃機関の排気が流通するメイン通路と、
このメイン通路に設置されたメイン触媒コンバータと、
前記メイン通路の一部をバイパスし、前記触媒コンバータの上流側の前記メイン通路に接続するバイパス通路と、
このバイパス通路に設置されるバイパス触媒コンバータと、
前記内燃機関から排出される排気の前記メイン通路への流れを制御する切換バルブと、
内燃機関の燃焼状態を制御すると共に、前記切換バルブの切り換えを制御するコントローラと、
を備えた内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、
前記コントローラは、前記切換バルブの切り換えによって前記排気の流れを前記バイパス通路から前記メイン通路に切り換える前に、前記内燃機関の燃焼状態を空燃比がリッチな状態の燃焼として、排出されるリッチな排気を前記バイパス通路に流し、前記切換バルブの切り換えによって前記排気の流れを前記バイパス通路から前記メイン通路に切り換えた後に、前記バイパス通路に流した前記リッチな排気と前記切換バルブ下流の前記メイン通路に残留した空気と混合させて前記メイン触媒コンバータに導入することを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記コントローラは、前記メイン触媒コンバータが活性状態に達する前は前記排気を前記バイパス通路に導入し、活性状態に達した場合に前記切換バルブを切り換えて前記排気を前記メイン通路に導入することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記コントローラは、前記リッチな排気が前記内燃機関から前記メイン触媒コンバータに到達する時間と、前記排気を前記メイン通路に流すように前記コントローラから前記切換バルブが切り換わる指示を受けてから切り換わるまでの時間と、前記メイン通路内の残留空気が前記メイン触媒コンバータに到達するまでの時間とに応じて、前記内燃機関のリッチ燃焼の開始から前記切換バルブが実際に切り換わるまでの時間を設定することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記コントローラは、前記リッチな排気が前記バイパス通路を通過して前記メイン触媒コンバータに到達するタイミングと前記残留空気が前記メイン触媒コンバータに到達するタイミングが同じになるように前記切換バルブを切り換えることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
