Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electronic camera, and more specifically, in an electronic camera with a built-in focal plane shutter, the operation timing of an element shutter defined by turn-on / off of an image sensor and a focal plane shutter that is a mechanical shutter is optimized. Related to the electronic camera.
[0002]
[Prior art]
As a silver salt camera (a camera using a silver salt film), a camera having a built-in focal plane shutter having a front curtain and a rear curtain is known. In the silver salt camera, since the film surface must be shielded except for the exposure time, the operation of the focal plane shutter is as follows.
[0003]
Before exposure, the front curtain is always in the shielding position, and the rear curtain is in the retracted position. By the release operation, the leading curtain moves to the retracted position, the film surface is opened, and exposure is performed. After a predetermined time, the rear curtain in the retracted position moves to shield the film surface, and the exposure ends. That is, the shutter time is determined by the operation timing of the front curtain and the rear curtain. At a low speed (for example, 1/500 SEC or more), the trailing curtain moves after the leading curtain retracts. At a high speed, the trailing curtain starts to move while the leading curtain is moving. In this case, the exposure time is determined by the interval (size) of the slit-like gap between the tail of the front curtain and the head of the rear curtain (slit shutter mode).
[0004]
In contrast, in an electronic camera, a time corresponding to an exposure time in a silver salt camera can be set by an image sensor for photoelectric conversion, for example, an element shutter defined by turning on / off a CCD. However, mechanical shutters are also used in electronic cameras for the following reasons. First, in the case of an interlaced CCD, an operation of a mechanical shutter is required at the end of exposure. In the case of a progressive CCD, for the purpose of smearing, it is necessary to complete exposure with an element shutter and then immediately shield it with a mechanical shutter (thus, it is better to end the exposure with a mechanical shutter).
[0005]
For example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 11-122542 discloses an electronic camera having a built-in focal plane shutter having only one of a front curtain and a rear curtain. Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 11-218838 discloses an electronic camera incorporating a focal plane shutter of a type having a large number of blades functioning as a diaphragm shutter. In the latter publication, it is added that a focal plane shutter having a front curtain and a rear curtain can also be used.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In recent years, a high-speed shutter operation similar to a silver salt camera has been required for an electronic camera. However, it is difficult to realize a high-speed shutter operation with a diaphragm / shutter currently used in an electronic camera due to the limitation of the operation speed of the blade (mechanism). Generally, 1/500 to 1/1000 SEC is the highest speed that can be achieved with a diaphragm / shutter in practice, although it varies depending on the aperture diameter.
[0007]
For this reason, it is desirable to use a focal plane shutter. However, if the shutter is controlled in the same manner as a silver halide camera, there is a problem for the following reasons. That is, it is necessary for the electronic camera to open the shutter other than the exposure time at the time of shooting. For example, this is the case when the subject is monitored on the image display LCD, or when photometry is performed for AE (automatic exposure) / AF (automatic focus) processing by the image sensor. Therefore, the function of the image sensor cannot be fully utilized by simple control of shielding the image sensor with any curtain of the shutter except for the exposure time at the time of photographing as in the case of a silver halide camera.
[0008]
The present invention has been made on the basis of the problems of the prior art. In an electronic camera incorporating a focal plane shutter, an element shutter defined by turn-on / off of an image sensor and a focal plane shutter that is a mechanical shutter are provided. By optimizing the operation timing, an object is to achieve a high-speed shutter operation similar to a silver salt camera, while being able to fully utilize the functions of an image sensor.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A first aspect of the present invention is an electronic camera, which is a photographing lens system for forming a subject image, an imaging element for photoelectrically converting the formed subject image, the photographing lens system, A focal plane shutter disposed between the image sensor and having first and second curtains for mechanically blocking incident light to the image sensor; and the image sensor and the focal according to a set value of a shutter speed.
