Description
BACKGROUND OF THE
In the transport rollers used in high-speed machines such as printers for the production printing (PP) market (usually those with a color printing speed of 70 sheets / min or more), variable printing (reprinting) is applied to the offset printed document. Roller on the adhesion path of the ink during printing, and the wax contained in the toner for printing of the high-speed machine in the conveyance path downstream (finisher section that performs post-processing such as punching and stapling, and duplex printing section) Adhesion is a problem. In particular, high-speed machines for the PP market have full-time printing for 24 hours, so the temperature in the actual machine rises (usually 100 ° C. or higher), and the toner and waxes have increased due to the recent trend toward lower melting point of toner. It melts and soaks into the rubber layer of the transport roller, and the rubber layer swells. For this reason, document smear due to retransfer of toner or the like to the printed document occurs, the roller outer diameter changes due to swelling of the rubber layer, and the paper feed amount fluctuates. The problem has also occurred. Also, in the paper discharge roller and the like downstream of the MFP for office use, due to the low melting point of the toner, there is a problem due to the swelling of the rubber layer similar to the transport roller for the high-speed machine for the PP market.
Conventionally, an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer (EPDM) has been used as a rubber layer material for the transport roller from the viewpoint of cost. However, EPDM is poor in swelling resistance because ink and toner are likely to permeate. For this reason, the above-mentioned EPDM rubber layer conveyance roller cannot solve problems such as the occurrence of document smearing and a decrease in paper conveyance accuracy due to a change in the outer diameter of the roller.
On the other hand, although it is not a conveyance roller, the following are proposed as a paper feed roll. For example, a urethane layer composed of a cured product of a polyether polyol obtained by using polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMG) and polypropylene glycol (PPG) in combination, a polyisocyanate, and a chain extender is provided. Paper roll (Patent Document 1), NCO group-terminated urethane prepolymer obtained by reaction of 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) -based isocyanate and PTMG, and trimethylolpropane (TMP) as essential components A paper feed roll provided with a urethane layer made of a cured product with a short-chain diol (Patent Document 2).
The paper feed rolls described in

The inventor of the present invention uses a polyol and a chain extender used in polyurethane to obtain a paper feed roller that is excellent in swelling resistance and can suppress the occurrence of document smearing and the decrease in paper conveyance accuracy due to a change in the outer diameter of the roller. Repeated experiments and repeated experiments. As a result, a polyether polyol (A) consisting only of polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMG) was selected as the polyol, and 1,4-butanediol (C1) and trimethylolpropane (C2) were used as the chain extender (C). ) Is selected, and the amount of (C1) is 3.2 to 4.9 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A), and the amount of (C2) is 100 parts by weight of (A). The weight mixing ratio of (C1) and (C2) is (C1) / (C2) = 4.9 / It has been found that good results can be obtained when setting is made to be 0.1 to 3.2 / 1.8. That is, when the urethane layer of the paper feed roller is formed using the cured product of the urethane composition using the polyether polyol (A) and the chain extender (C) as described above, the roller itself Swelling resistance becomes excellent, and it is possible to suppress the occurrence of document stains and the decrease in paper conveyance accuracy due to changes in the roller outer diameter.
The paper feed roller of the present invention comprises a polyether polyol (A) composed only of polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMG), a polyisocyanate (B), 1,4-butanediol (C1) and trimethylolpropane (C2). The weight mixing ratio of (C1) and (C2) is (C1) / (C2) = 4.9 / 0.1 with respect to 100 parts by weight. A urethane layer is formed using a cured product of a urethane composition in a range of ˜3.2 / 1.8. Therefore, it is excellent in swelling resistance, and it is possible to suppress the occurrence of document stains and a decrease in paper conveyance accuracy due to a change in roller outer diameter.
Further, when the hardness (JIS-A) of the paper feed roller surface is 70 ° or more, the swelling resistance of the paper feed roller is further improved.
The blending amount of (C1) is 3.5 to 4.9 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A), and the blending amount of (C2) is 0.1 to 100 parts by weight of (A). 1.5 parts by weight and the weight mixing ratio of (C1) and (C2) is in the range of (C1) / (C2) = 4.9 / 0.1 to 3.5 / 1.5 When the urethane layer is formed using a cured product of the urethane composition, the swelling resistance of the paper feed roller is further improved.

Next, as the chain extender (C component) used together with the specific polyether polyol (A component) and polyisocyanate (B component), 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BD) (C1) and Trimethylolpropane (TMP) (C2) is used. The selective use of C1 and C2, the blending amount thereof, and the ratio between C1 and C2 are one of the features of the present invention.
The blending amount of 1,4-butanediol (C1) is in the range of 3.2 to 4.9 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight (hereinafter referred to as “parts”) of the specific polyether polyol (component A). Preferably in the range of 3.5 to 4.9 parts. That is, if the amount of 1,4-butanediol (C1) is too small, the swelling resistance deteriorates. Conversely, if the amount of 1,4-butanediol (C1) is too large, the friction coefficient is low. Because it becomes.
Moreover, the compounding quantity of the said trimethylol propane (C2) is the range of 0.1-1.8 parts with respect to 100 parts of said specific polyether polyol (A component), Preferably it is 0.1-1. The range is 5 parts. That is, if the amount of the trimethylolpropane (C2) is too small, the friction coefficient is lowered. Conversely, if the amount of the trimethylolpropane (C2) is too large, the swelling resistance is deteriorated.
Here, the weight mixing ratio of (C1) to (C2) is in the range of (C1) / (C2) = 4.9 / 0.1 to 3.2 / 1.8, preferably (C1 ) / (C2) = 4.9 / 0.1 to 3.5 / 1.5. That is, if the weight ratio of C1 is too high (if the weight ratio of C2 is too low), the friction coefficient of the transport roller is low, and conversely if the weight ratio of C1 is too low (the weight ratio of C2 is too high), This is because the swelling resistance is deteriorated.
The blending ratio of the chain extender (C component) itself is the number of moles of hydroxyl group (c) of the chain extender (C component), the specific polyether polyol (A component) and the polyisocyanate (B component). The ratio with the number of moles (u) of isocyanate in a special urethane prepolymer (hereinafter simply abbreviated as “urethane prepolymer”) comprising u / c = 100/75 to 100/105 It is preferable to mix | blend, Especially preferably, it is the range of u / c = 100 / 85-100 / 95.
The urethane composition in the present invention may contain a chain extender other than the above 1,4-BD (C1) and TMP (C2). Examples thereof include polyols having a molecular weight of 300 or less, such as propane (TMP), glycerin, pentaerythritol, sorbitol, 1,2,6-hexanetriol. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
In addition to the components A to C, the urethane composition includes an ionic conductive agent, a plasticizer, a hollow filler, a catalyst, a foaming agent, a surfactant, a flame retardant, a colorant, a filler, a stabilizer, a release agent. A mold agent or the like may be appropriately blended. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more.

A urethane prepolymer is prepared. And a urethane composition can be prepared by mix | blending a chain extension agent (C component) with respect to this urethane prepolymer. In addition, when mix | blending additives other than A-C component, it is preferable to mix | blend in a urethane prepolymer previously.
In addition, as a preparation method of the said urethane composition, after making polyether polyol (A component) and polyisocyanate (B component) react beforehand as an NCO terminal prepolymer as mentioned above, a chain extender ( A prepolymer method in which component (C) is added and heated and cured as necessary is preferable, but it may be prepared by a one-shot method, a semi-one-shot method, or the like.
(Production of paper feed roller)
A paper feed roller molding die on which a core serving as a shaft body is set is prepared and heated to a predetermined temperature (preferably 140 ° C.). Next, the urethane composition is poured into the mold and cured under a predetermined condition (preferably 140 ° C. × 60 minutes) to obtain a cured body. The obtained cured body is removed from the mold, subjected to secondary curing under a desired condition (preferably 110 ° C. × 12 hours), and then the surface is polished to obtain a
The paper feed roller thus obtained has a surface (urethane layer 2) hardness (JIS-A hardness) of preferably 70 ° or more, preferably 73 ° or more, and most preferably 74 ° or more. That is, if the hardness is too low, when used in a high-speed machine for the PP market, the paper feed roller tends to be deformed by the high-speed rotation, and the paper conveyance accuracy tends to deteriorate. The JIS-A hardness is a value measured with a type A durometer at a load of 9.8 N according to JIS K 7321.
The initial coefficient of friction (μ) of the paper feed roller of the present invention is preferably 1.4 or more, particularly preferably 1.5 or more. That is, if the friction coefficient (μ) is too low, the transportability tends to deteriorate.
The friction coefficient (μ) can be measured, for example, as follows. That is, as shown in FIG. 2, the

[Examples 2-5, Comparative Examples 1-8]
A paper feed roller was produced in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the blending ratio and type of each component were changed to the contents shown in Table 2 (
Using the paper feed rollers of the example product and the comparative example product thus obtained, each characteristic was evaluated according to the following criteria. These results are also shown in Table 2 (
〔硬度(JIS−A)〕
[Hardness (JIS-A)]
The hardness of the paper feed roller surface (urethane layer) was measured with a type A durometer at a load of 9.8 N in accordance with JIS K 7321.
〔Coefficient of friction〕
The initial friction coefficient (μ) was measured according to the method shown in FIG. That is, as shown in FIG. 2, the
[Change in outer diameter]
Each paper feed roller sample (
From the above results, all of the examples were good in hardness and friction coefficient, small in outer diameter change, and excellent in swelling resistance.
In contrast, the product of Comparative Example 1 uses only 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BD) as a chain extender and does not use trimethylolpropane (TMP) in combination, so the friction coefficient is low, It was unsuitable for the transport roller. In Comparative Example 2 products, the blending ratio of 1,4-BD was too small (the blending ratio of TMP was too large), so the amount of change in outer diameter was large and the swelling resistance was poor. Since Comparative Examples 3 to 7 are not a polyether polyol composed only of PTMG, but a polyether polyol using a combination of PTMG and PPG, the larger the ratio of PPG, the smaller the hardness and the outer diameter change amount. The swelling resistance was poor. In Comparative Example 8 products, the base layer of the paper feed roller was not a urethane layer but an EPDM layer, so that the amount of change in outer diameter was large and the swelling resistance was remarkably inferior.
As described above, the paper feed roller of the present invention has a conveyance roller, a reverse roller, a re-conveyance roller, a discharge roller in a conveyance path downstream of the fixing of the high-speed machine (MFP) for PP, for example, a finisher unit, a duplex printing unit, and the like. It can be used for a paper roller, a switchback roller, a driven roller, and the like, and a paper discharge roller, a reverse roller, a driven roller, and the like in a conveyance path downstream of the office MFP.
