Description
The present invention relates to a color image forming apparatus having a function of correcting the color of a color image formed on a recording sheet.
In image forming apparatuses (copiers, printers, multi-function machines, etc.) that form color images on recording paper, when the components in the apparatus have environmental characteristics, due to changes in characteristics due to use, deterioration due to wear, etc., Each time the image formation is repeated, the color of the formed image gradually changes. This is called color shift. In order to improve this problem, color correction is performed in the conventional color image forming apparatus. Generally, color correction is performed so that the color shift is within a predetermined range every time a predetermined period elapses (for example, every time the number of printed sheets reaches a predetermined number). Others have taken measures that allow the user to activate color correction directly.
The means for periodically performing color correction is effective in that it does not bother the user, but if color correction is frequently performed, large color misregistration hardly occurs, but printing efficiency deteriorates. On the other hand, if the interval between color corrections is too large, there will be no problem in printing efficiency, but a large color misregistration is likely to occur.
Color correction is generally performed by combining, for example, increase and decrease in process conditions such as developability, exposure amount of an exposure process, and initial surface potential of an electrostatic latent image carrier (photosensitive member). Also, color correction may be performed by changing the print density by changing the print pattern (gradation γ pattern).
However, when correction is performed by changing the process condition greatly when the color misregistration is large, it is conceivable that the process condition is set outside the process condition setting range. In this case, it may cause a fatal problem in the life of the apparatus. For example, in an apparatus in which the exposure system is constituted by a laser, if the output of the laser is increased too much, the laser may be destroyed, or the deterioration speed of the laser may increase and the product life cannot be achieved.
In addition, when the color shift is large, the color change due to the correction is large, and it may be recognized by the user at a glance that the correction has been performed, which may cause discomfort to the user.
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is that it provides an image forming apparatus in which it is difficult to recognize that correction for color misregistration has been performed and the apparatus is less likely to be deteriorated by correction. .

The color

The correction
制御部17は、画像形成装置の全体を制御するもので、例えばCPU(中央処理装置)、RAM(アンダムアクセスメモリ)及びROMを備える。
The
The color misregistration
The correction
The correction
The color misregistration
Next, the flow of control for color correction execution in the copying
In step S1, the correction
In step S6, the correction
In step S8, the correction
In step S11, the correction
In step S10, when the color difference ΔE is 6.5 or less (NO in step S10), the process proceeds to step S15. In step S15, when the color difference ΔE acquired from the color
In step S15, if the color difference ΔE is 3.2 or less (NO in step S15), the process proceeds to step S20. In step S20, if the color difference ΔE acquired from the color
In step S20, when the color difference ΔE is 1.6 or less (NO in step S20) and when the process of step S21 is completed, it means that the correction is completed, and the process returns to step S1.
In step S7, if the flag being corrected is on (YES in step S7), it means that there is a continuation of correction, and the process proceeds to step S22. In step S22, the correction
In step S24, the correction
As described above, in this embodiment, correction for color misregistration is performed by performing correction within a range that is not recognized by human eyes in multiple stages, so it is difficult to recognize that correction for color misregistration has been performed, It is possible to reduce discomfort caused by color correction to the user and to reduce damage to the apparatus due to correction because it is not necessary to change the process conditions extremely by correction. In addition, when the color misregistration is large, the interval of each stage of correction is shortened. Therefore, even when the color misregistration is large, the correction can be completed in a shorter period.
In addition, this invention is not limited to the thing of the said embodiment, The aspect described below can be employ | adopted. In the present embodiment, when the user reaches the number of prints to be corrected so that correction is not performed during the batch printing (for example, copying performed by pressing the start button once), Although the correction is performed after the batch printing that has been performed is completed, the correction is not necessarily performed in this manner, and the correction is started when the number of prints to be corrected is reached (for example, every 160 prints). You may do it. If correction is performed between batch printings, changes in color misregistration due to correction are less noticeable.
In this embodiment, the color correction is performed by changing the photosensitive member surface potential and the exposure amount. However, this shows an example of the color correction method, and the color correction is necessarily performed by this method. There is no.
The numerical values used in this embodiment are merely examples, and the present invention is not limited to these numerical values.

It is determined whether or not the color difference measured by the measuring means is larger than a predetermined second threshold that is a lower limit of a level that can be treated as the same color in the impression level. A determination means for further determining whether or not it is greater than a predetermined first threshold that is an upper limit of a level that is hardly noticed in the separation comparison;
The correction performed by the correction unit is a correction within a range that is not recognized by human eyes, and the color difference is equal to or lower than a predetermined target value that is an upper limit value at which the adjacent comparison color difference is not felt . Control means for controlling the correction means so as to repeatedly perform this correction at different times,
The target value is 1.6 as a color difference ΔE when using the L * a * b * color system.
The first threshold is 3.2 as the color difference ΔE,
The second threshold is 6.5 as the color difference ΔE,
The control means includes
When it is determined by the determination means that the color difference is greater than 6.5 by the color difference ΔE, the color difference by the first correction is greater than 3.2 by the color difference ΔE and is 6.5 or less by the second correction. The correction means is controlled so that the color difference ΔE is greater than 1.6 and less than or equal to 3.2 and less than the target value in the third correction.
When it is determined by the determination means that the color difference is 6.5 or less as the color difference ΔE and greater than 3.2 as the color difference ΔE, the color difference is larger than 1.6 as the color difference ΔE by the first correction. 2 or less, controlling the correction means so that the color difference is less than or equal to the target value in the second correction,
When it is determined by the determination means that the color difference ΔE is 3.2 or less and the color difference ΔE is greater than 1.6, the correction is performed so that the color difference is equal to or less than the target value by only one correction. An image forming apparatus for controlling the means .
The control means sets the interval between each correction stage when the number of correction stages determined for the correction is a predetermined number of correction stages, and each interval when the determined number of correction stages is smaller than the predetermined number of correction stages. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the image forming apparatus is shorter than an interval between correction steps.
