BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image diagnosis support apparatus that detects a shadow or the like as a lesion candidate from a medical image using computer image processing, and displays the detected shadow as a lesion candidate in an identifiable manner.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, diagnosis support has been performed in which shadows of images taken with a CT apparatus or an MRI apparatus are analyzed using a computer, lesion candidates are narrowed down from the shadows and presented to a doctor, and the doctor's judgment is sought. . As examples of narrowing down lesion candidates from shadows, various examples of medical images of lung fields have been reported. One of them is a method for distinguishing between a long and narrow vascular shadow and a circular cancer shadow from medical images of the lung field. For example, “Quitfilter” (November 1999, 9th Computer Aided Diagnosis Conference) (Page 21). Medical images of lung fields contain shadows such as cancer, as well as blood vessels, blood vessel cross-sections, and bronchial cross-sections. Therefore, detect shadows that appear to be cancer candidates from these images. It is desirable to present to a doctor.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, actual shadows vary in size and shape, and it takes much effort to adjust the parameters to increase the ability to identify the shadows, making it difficult to use. If there is a method that can handle shadows of different sizes and shapes in a unified manner, it will be easy to create a computer program, and it will be easy to adjust parameters to increase the discrimination ability. Further, if the lesion candidates can be narrowed down from the shadow by simple processing, the calculation time of the computer can be reduced, and an accurate lesion candidate can be detected quickly. It is also desirable because the detected lesion candidate can be instantly displayed to the doctor.
[0004]
Therefore, the applicant of the present application has applied for an image diagnosis support apparatus that can handle shadows of different sizes and shapes in a unified manner and requires a short time for computer computation (Japanese Patent Application No. 2001-187969). . This diagnostic imaging support apparatus reads a CT image of a patient imaged by a CT apparatus from a storage device such as a magnetic disk, performs multi-value processing on a diagnosis target organ from the read CT image, and performs multi-value processing. Generate a digitized image. Since this multi-valued image may have a plurality of organ parts or organs connected to each other, a cutting process is performed to separate them into individual parts or organs. And the optimal detection process corresponding to the site | part of each diagnostic target organ cut | disconnected or the kind of organ is performed. In this detection process, the type of a part or organ is determined, image processing suitable for them is performed, focus candidate shadows are narrowed down, and shadows that are lesion candidates, that is, abnormal shadows, are detected. This abnormal shadow detection processing is performed based on only the multi-valued image without using the original image (CT image), or based on both the CT image and the multi-valued image. Then, what is determined to be an abnormal shadow is left as a lesion, and what is not is deleted, and the abnormal shadow is displayed by adding color information, a marker, or the like so as to be easily understood in the CT image.
[0005]
In general, the number of detections of lesion candidate shadows that are determined to be false positives depends on the slice thickness of the medical image. In other words, in addition to shadows such as cancer, the medical image includes a mixture of blood vessels, blood vessel cross sections, bronchial cross sections, and so on. Becomes clear or unclear. For example, when the slice thickness is small, the shadow corresponding to the blood vessel is extremely reduced, making it difficult to recognize, making it difficult to detect false positive shadows, and reducing the number of detections. Conversely, when the slice thickness is increased, the shadow of the blood vessel appears clearly, so that a false positive shadow is detected as an abnormal shadow, and the number of detection tends to increase. Accordingly, the detection accuracy of abnormal shadows is improved when the slice thickness is small, but conversely, when the slice thickness is small, the number of medical images to be detected becomes extremely large, and the time required for the abnormal shadow detection processing is increased. There is a problem that becomes huge.
[0006]
An object of the present invention is to provide an image diagnosis support apparatus capable of performing detection at a high speed at a detection processing speed when the slice thickness is large while maintaining detection accuracy when the slice thickness is small.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Preferred embodiments of an image diagnosis support apparatus according to the present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a hardware configuration of an entire diagnostic imaging support apparatus to which the present invention is applied. This diagnostic imaging support apparatus displays or detects a detected lesion candidate shadow or the like based on a plurality of tomographic images (CT images or the like) collected with respect to a target region of a subject with an X-ray CT apparatus or the like, for example. From among the candidate lesion shadows or the like, those with high certainty are narrowed down and displayed, or images in the middle of these processes are displayed. The diagnostic imaging support apparatus includes a central processing unit (CPU) 10 that controls the operation of each component, a

[0016]
[Step S29]
It is determined whether or not the CT image with a small slice thickness instructed in the previous step S28 exists in the CT image with a large slice thickness, that is, whether or not the image is out of the thick image. If it jumps to step S2B and is not off (no), it proceeds to the next step S2A. For example, when processing a thin image in the CT image S1 having a large slice thickness, it is determined that the instructed small image is not detached in the case of S3b and S3c, and in other cases it is determined that the image has been removed. Is done.
[0017]
[Step S2A]
Since it is determined that the image instructed in the previous step is not deviated from the thick image, the next CT image having a small slice thickness is read, and the process returns to step S26.
[Step S2B]
Since it is determined in the previous step 23 that there is no abnormality or the image instructed in step S29 is determined to be out of the thick image, the next CT image having a large slice thickness is read.
[0018]
[Step S2C]
It is determined whether or not the CT image read in the previous step is the final image. If the CT image is not the final image (no), the process returns to step S22 and the above-described processing is repeatedly executed. End the process.
[0019]
By the above processing, the abnormal shadow detection processing is sequentially executed for CT images having a large slice thickness, so that the processing speed is increased. In addition, when a CT image with a large slice thickness is detected as an abnormal shadow, the same abnormal shadow detection process is performed with a CT image with a smaller slice thickness, so the detection accuracy is improved.
[0020]
In the above-described embodiment, when an abnormal shadow is detected in an image with a large slice thickness, the abnormal shadow detection process is repeated again for an image with a small slice thickness included in the image with a large slice thickness, and the abnormal shadow is detected. In the case of detection, when an abnormal shadow is detected in an image having a large slice thickness, an image having a small slice thickness included in the image having a large slice thickness can be displayed on the interpretation doctor for confirmation. You may do it. That is, as shown in FIG. 4A, the doctor first performs sequential observation using a CT image having a slice thickness of 10 mm. At this time, it is assumed that the abnormal shadow detection process in step S22 described above is executed by the computer, and as a result, an abnormal shadow is detected. In this case, since the “detail” button in the screen blinks, the doctor clicks the “detail” button in the screen. Then, the display screen changes as shown in FIG. The display screen of FIG. 4B displays a plurality of CT images having a slice thickness of 10 [mm] as in FIG. 4A on the upper stage and a plurality of CT images having a slice thickness of 2 [mm] on the lower stage. By clicking the up and down arrow buttons on the right side of each CT image, the CT images are read in order.
[0021]
In the above-described embodiment, as a result of performing an abnormal shadow detection process on a medical image with a large slice thickness, if there is an abnormal shadow, a case where a similar detection process is performed on a medical image with a small slice thickness has been described. When there is a shadow, the position of the abnormal shadow or the like may be recorded, and the detection process may be focused on the position of the medical image with a small slice thickness. In the above-described embodiment, the medical image after measurement has been described. However, the medical image may be applied during measurement. That is, the slice thickness may be increased and measured, and an abnormal shadow detection process may be performed on the slice thickness, and the portion where the abnormal shadow is detected may be measured with a reduced slice thickness.
[0022]
【The invention's effect】
