本発明は、流体等の漏れを防止するための密封装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、この種の密封装置としては、例えば、図7や図8に示したものが知られている。

図7および図8は従来技術に係る密封装置の使用状態を示す概略構成図である。

まず、図7に示す密封装置100は、いわゆるXリングと呼ばれるものであり、ハウジング90と、このハウジング90に設けられた軸孔に挿入された軸80との間の環状隙間を密封するものである。

また、図に示すように、密封装置100は、ハウジング90に設けられた断面コ字状の環状溝91に装着されて使用されるものである。

密封装置100は、外周側に外周リップ102a,102bを備えており、内周側に内周リップ103a,103bを備えており、外周リップ102a,102bが環状溝91壁面に密着することでシールし、かつ、内周リップ103a,103bが軸80に摺接することでシールすることによって、密封流体(オイルなど)側Oと大気側Aとを遮断して密封するものである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、上記のような従来技術の場合には、下記のような問題が生じていた。

上述した図7に示す密封装置(Xリング)の場合には、共廻りの発生による流体漏れの問題がある。

すなわち、密封装置100は、その弾性反発力等によってのみ環状溝91内に固定されており、ハウジング90と軸80が相対的に回転する場合には、一般的には、密封装置100はハウジング90側に固定されたまま、軸80と内周リップ103a,103bのみが摺動するように設定(設計)されている。

しかしながら、場合によっては、内周リップ103a,103bが軸80表面に引き摺られて、軸80と共に回転して共廻りが生じる場合があり、その際には、外周リップ102a,102bと環状溝91の壁面との間で摺動することになる。

この場合に、環状溝91の壁面は加工上の都合により、表面が粗いため、外周リップ102a,102bは摩耗が激しく、流体の漏れが発生しやすくなってしまうのである。

また、図8に示す密封装置の場合には、メインリップ130と軸85との密着性が密封装置としての性能を決定付けることになり、特に、軸偏心が生じた場合でも好適にメインリップ130と軸85とが密着していることが望まれる。

そこで、メインリップ130と軸85との密着性を高めるためには、シールサイズの設定を調整したり、シールの剛性を高めたり、スプリング140の付勢力を高めるなどの方法がなされてきたが、スペース上の問題やその他の各種条件によって、制限されることがあり、他の密着性を高める技術の開発が望まれていた。

また、鉄粉などの金属粉がメインリップ130の摺動部に侵入すると、接触状態が不安定となり、シール性能を低下させたり、また、メインリップ130の摩耗が激しくなり、密封性能の劣化を増長してしまう結果となっていた。

本発明は上記の従来技術の課題を解決するためになされたもので、その目的とするところは、密封性能の向上を図った品質性に優れた密封装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するために本発明にあっては、軸とハウジングとの間の環状隙間を密封する密封装置であって、前記ハウジング内周に形成された溝内に装着される密封装置において、前記軸に摺接する、磁気を有しない内周シールと、前記溝壁面との間で磁気吸着力が発生する、磁気を有する材料からなる外周シールと、を備えることを特徴とする。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下に図面を参照して、この発明の好適な実施の形態を例示的に詳しく説明する。ただし、この実施の形態に記載されている構成部品の寸法、材質、形状、その相対配置などは、特に特定的な記載がない限りは、この発明の範囲をそれらのみに限定する趣旨のものではない。

(第1の実施の形態)
図1および図2を参照して、第1の実施の形態に係る密封装置について説明する。

図1は本発明の第1の実施の形態に係る密封装置の概略一部断面図であり、図2は第1の実施の形態に係る密封装置の使用状態を示す概略構成図である。

図1及び図2に示す密封装置1は、いわゆるXリングと呼ばれるものであり、ハウジング90と、このハウジング90に設けられた軸孔に挿入された軸80との間の環状隙間を密封するものである。

一方、本発明の実施の形態においては、外周シール2の素材に、磁気を有する材料を用いることに特徴を有しており、例えば、磁気ゴムを用いる。

なお、環状溝91壁面を形成する部材の素材についても、磁気を有する材料(磁気ゴム)との間で磁気吸着力が発生するような部材とする必要があることは言うまでもないが、例えば、鉄材や磁石などを用いると好適である。

以上のような構成によって、外周シール2と環状溝91壁面との間に磁気吸着力が発生するため、密封装置1のハウジング90に対する固定力が増加し、密封装置1が軸80と共に回転して共廻りが生じる可能性が低減され、これにより、外周リップ2a,2bと環状溝91の壁面との間で摺動する可能性が低減されることになる。

従って、外周リップ2a,2bの摩耗を抑制することができ、上述した磁気吸着力と相俟って環状溝91の壁面への密着性が向上し、密着性能が向上する。

また、メインリップ31bの外周側は磁性を有するので、軸85が鉄材や磁石などの磁性体との間で磁気吸着力を発生させる素材である場合には、メインリップ31bの軸85表面への吸着力が増し、スプリング40による緊迫力と相俟って、密封性能が良くなると共に、偏心追随性も良くなる。

そして、メインリップ31b先端の磁性を有しない部分の摩耗が進んだ場合には、磁性を有する部分と軸85表面との間隔が徐々に狭くなり、上述した磁気吸着力が大きくなるので、メインリップ31bの寿命向上も期待できる。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したように、本発明は、外周シールに磁性を持たせることによって、ハウジング内周に形成された溝と外周シールとの間に磁気吸着力を発生させて、密封装置と軸との共廻りを低減させて、外周シールの摩耗を抑制することによって密封性能の向上を図ることができ、品質性が向上する。
