Description
The present invention relates to a pulse tube refrigerator, and more particularly to a pulse tube refrigerator used in a non-vacuum atmosphere such as a helium atmosphere.
In recent years, progress in pulse tube technology and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) cryostat design has made it possible to recondense helium using a pulse tube refrigerator. There are single-stage and multi-stage pulse tube refrigerators. For example, a two-stage pulse tube refrigerator cools the first stage to about 40K, and the second stage has about 4K. Cooling can be performed. Also, pulse tube refrigerators are preferred over GM refrigerators with mechanical vibration because they have less vibration and less noise in the MRI signal.
By the way, a normal pulse tube refrigerator has a structure in which a regenerator and a pulse tube are arranged in parallel. When the pulse tube refrigerator having this structure is mounted in the cooling vessel of the MRI magnet, the helium gas filled in the cooling vessel is caused by the temperature difference between the pulse tube and the regenerator, It is known to convection between. As a result, heat loss (referred to as convection loss) occurs in the first and second stage stages, causing a significant loss in the refrigeration capacity of the pulse tube refrigerator.
Stautner et al. Describe the problems with conventional two-stage 4K pulse tubes, and present a sleeve-like solution that surrounds the pulse tube assembly and includes insulation around the tube (see Patent Document 1). . As another solution to the problem of convection loss, there is one proposed by Daniel et al. (See Patent Document 22). In this method, a heat insulating sleeve is provided around the pulse tube and the regenerator, whereby helium. It is configured to reduce convection loss due to gas.
Furthermore, as another method, there is a method proposed in
Here, paying attention to the center position of the second
As shown in FIG. 16, by providing a
However, when the heat conduction of the working gas (for example, helium) is low, the temperature difference between the working gas in the second
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and an object of the present invention is to provide a pulse tube refrigerator capable of suppressing the occurrence of convection loss due to convection of the atmospheric gas even when operated in a non-vacuum atmosphere.
Therefore, since the second
By adopting a configuration in which the
Here, the
また、小径部45の長さL(2段目パルス管40Aの長手方向に対する長さ)は、次のように設定されている。
Further, the length L of the small diameter portion 45 (the length with respect to the longitudinal direction of the second-
Next, the operation of the
The
Moreover, since the
As a result, the working gas already present in the second-
As a result, the movement timing of the working gas is delayed with respect to the pressure change timing in the second-
Next, when the
At the same time, the working gas on the high temperature side end side of the second
Thus, in the second-
Incidentally, the
The
Next, the operation and effect of providing the
FIG. 3 shows the temperatures from the low-temperature side end to the high-temperature side end of the first-
The temperature distribution indicated by A in the figure is the temperature distribution of the first and
First, paying attention to the temperature distribution A of the first stage and
However, in the positions P1 to P2 corresponding to the stage corresponding positions, the temperatures of the first and
On the other hand, when attention is paid to the temperature characteristics B and C of the second
However, in the conventional pulse tube refrigerator showing the temperature distributions B and C, since the second-
In contrast, the
Thus, by providing the small-
On the other hand, the temperature drop of the second-
FIG. 4 shows a pulse tube refrigerator 1B according to the second embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 4, the same reference numerals are given to the components corresponding to those shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, and the description thereof is omitted.
The pulse tube refrigerator 1B according to the present embodiment is characterized in that a
For this reason, in this embodiment, by providing the
