Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a navigation system-equipped motorcycle, and more particularly to a motorcycle equipped with a navigation system using a portable information device (hereinafter referred to as “PDA”).
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Navigation systems that combine map information and a position detection device (GPS) that uses satellite radio waves to display the current location of a vehicle on a map and guide the vehicle to a destination are widely used. Conventionally, vehicle navigation systems have been mainly used for four-wheeled vehicles, but in recent years, mounting them in motorcycles has also been studied. For example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 9-95276 proposes a motorcycle that takes into account the mounting position of a direction sensor so that it can easily receive satellite radio waves in a motorcycle equipped with a navigation system. In the navigation system described in the publication, a sunscreen and a cover that can be opened and closed are provided on the display unit.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The conventional navigation system still has the following problems in order to be suitably mounted on a motorcycle. First, since motorcycles are generally smaller than four-wheeled vehicles, the space for mounting a navigation system is severely limited. Secondly, in a motorcycle, the navigation system is mounted in a state exposed to the outside air.
[0004]
That is, the conventional navigation system is large for a motorcycle, and the mounting position and method are not sufficiently considered. Therefore, improvements have been desired in view of display screens, dustproofing and waterproofing.
[0005]
An object of the present invention is to provide a motorcycle equipped with a navigation system that solves the above-described problems and improves usability.

[Means for Solving the Problems]
To achieve the above object, the present invention provides a GPS sensor that receives GPS satellite radio waves and outputs positioning data, and a box that can accommodate a PDA that can provide navigation information based on the positioning data by a display panel. And a system controller that relays the positioning data to the PDA accommodated in the box to perform a navigation operation, and the box is a lid that can be opened and closed to insert and remove the PDA; A characteristic feature is that it has a connector connected to the input / output terminals of the PDA and a window for seeing through the display panel of the accommodated PDA.
[0007]
Further, the present invention is characterized in that a switch for inputting a control instruction for the PDA is provided in the box. Further, according to the present invention, the PDA includes storage means for obtaining and storing necessary map information from the outside, and the PDA and the system controller are connected inside the box. The box is attached to a substantially central portion of the handle so as to be rotatable up and down, and is configured to be freely displaceable between a use position that is substantially parallel to the surface of the instrument panel of the vehicle and a retracted position along the vehicle body. The lid is characterized in that it can be locked and unlocked by a vehicle key.
[0008]
According to the above feature, navigation information can be displayed using the function of the PDA based on the positioning data detected by the GPS sensor. And since PDA can be accommodated and used in a box, it can expect a dustproof and waterproof effect. Further, since the PDA is detachable from the motorcycle via the box, it can be removed from the motorcycle and carried for the purpose of preventing theft or for purposes other than navigation when not used for navigation.
