Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a polycarbonate resin, and more particularly to a method for producing a polycarbonate resin and a polycarbonate-polyorganosiloxane copolymer. This production method is suitable for a production method called an interfacial polycondensation method.
Polycarbonate resins are polymers with excellent transparency, heat resistance, and impact resistance, and are currently widely used in the industrial field as engineering plastics.
The polycarbonate resin can be produced by directly reacting an aromatic dihydroxy compound such as bisphenol A with phosgene (interface polycondensation method), or an aromatic dihydroxy compound such as bisphenol A and a carbonic acid diester such as diphenyl carbonate. In general, a method of transesterifying in a molten state is known, but the interfacial polycondensation method has become the mainstream because of problems such as quality.
In an industrial production plant for polycarbonate by interfacial polycondensation polymerization, phosgene is generally blown into an alkaline aqueous solution of bisphenols to produce polycarbonate oligomers having reactive chloroformate groups. It is produced by a method in which a polycarbonate oligomer and an alkaline aqueous solution of bisphenols are subjected to a condensation reaction at the interface with an inert organic solvent in the presence of a catalyst such as a tertiary amine. As the inert organic solvent, methylene chloride is mainly used industrially from the viewpoints of solubility and handleability.
As polycarbonate raw materials, bisphenols, alkali compounds such as sodium hydroxide and phosgene are used, and a terminal terminator (molecular weight regulator) and the like are added as necessary.
The polycarbonate oligomer synthesized in the oligomer reaction system is separated from the aqueous phase and then diluted with methylene chloride to a concentration suitable for the condensation reaction. Since the water phase separated from the polycarbonate oligomer contains monomers such as aromatic dihydroxy compounds and polycarbonate oligomer, the monomer and oligomer are extracted by countercurrent contact with methylene chloride, which is an organic solvent phase. Usually, in the process for producing a polycarbonate-based resin, it is economically advantageous to reuse methylene chloride from which monomers and oligomers are extracted as a diluting solvent during the reaction. Therefore, the methylene chloride used for this extraction is usually used for diluting the oligomer.
The terminal of the polycarbonate oligomer has a chloroformate group, which decomposes as a side reaction in addition to the condensation reaction, generating carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide reacts with sodium hydroxide in the aqueous phase to become sodium carbonate. The separated aqueous phase is brought into countercurrent contact with the methylene chloride phase to extract monomers and oligomers. At this time, an acid is added to adjust the pH in order to neutralize the countercurrent contact system. This acid and sodium carbonate react to generate carbon dioxide, which is absorbed by methylene chloride. Since this methylene chloride is used for diluting the oligomer, carbon dioxide is supplied to the condensation system. Carbon dioxide reacts with sodium hydroxide to become sodium carbonate again, which not only loses sodium hydroxide, but also precipitates when sodium carbonate exceeds the saturation solubility, causing problems such as clogging condensation heat exchangers. is there.
As for the method for producing a polycarbonate-polyorganosiloxane copolymer (hereinafter sometimes referred to as a PC-POS copolymer), the interfacial polycondensation method has become the mainstream due to problems such as quality as described above.
In order to efficiently obtain a PC-POS copolymer, a method in which a polyorganosiloxane (hereinafter referred to as POS) is reacted with a chloroformate terminal-containing polycarbonate oligomer in the absence of phosgene is suitable. In addition, when unreacted PDMS remains in the PC-POS copolymer, the quality and performance of the obtained molded product of the PC-POS copolymer is deteriorated. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce this unreacted POS as much as possible. is there.
Further, since POS has low reactivity, a production method in which a step of reacting an oligomer and POS in advance is performed before the step of increasing the molecular weight of the oligomer is preferably used. In continuous production, the raw material flow is changed, and the chemical condition of the step of reacting the oligomer and POS is as follows. By adding triethylamine to 0.0001 to 0.05 with respect to the chloroformate group, a product having excellent transparency can be obtained (for example, see Patent Document 1).
In particular, when the chain length of the POS to be used is 50 or less, a copolymer having excellent transparency can be obtained by using the above production method. However, 150 to 500 ppm of unreacted POS may still remain, and this reduction has been desired for exhibiting extremely high transparency and providing a stable molded article appearance.
Furthermore, when methylene chloride containing monomers, oligomers, carbon dioxide, sodium carbonate and the like is reused as a diluent solvent in the POS reaction step, there is a problem that unreacted POS increases.
As a countermeasure against the problem of increasing the unreacted POS, there is a method of increasing the supply amount of triethylamine. However, when the amount of triethylamine is increased, the polymerization rate becomes too fast in the subsequent process, resulting in a lack of reaction stability during polymerization, the consumption of triethylamine is large and wasteful, and the nitrogen content in the polymer is increased, resulting in thermal stability. There are several problems that lead to sexual deterioration.
Further, in order to reuse the recovered solvent, a method for purifying methylene chloride using a distillation method has been studied (for example, see Patent Document 2). There's a problem.

The present invention is described in detail below.
First, the manufacturing method of the polycarbonate resin which is the first embodiment of the present invention uses (A) bisphenols and phosgene as raw materials and (B) methylene chloride as an organic solvent to manufacture a polycarbonate resin. In this case, the carbon dioxide concentration in the (B) methylene chloride is less than 0.07 mol / liter.
The method for producing a polycarbonate resin of the present invention is mainly applied to an interfacial polycondensation method, and as raw materials, it is used as a diluting solvent for bisphenols (A), phosgene produced from chlorine and carbon monoxide, and polycarbonate oligomers. It is done.
Examples of the component (B) include methylene chloride, alkali compounds used for dissolving bisphenols, and catalysts such as monohydric phenols, tertiary amines and quaternary ammonium salts as molecular weight regulators as required.
As the bisphenol as the component (A), 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane (common name, bisphenol A) is preferable from the viewpoint of the physical properties of the polycarbonate. Examples of bisphenols other than bisphenol A include bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) methane; 1,1-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) ethane; and bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) ethane such as 1,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) ethane. Hydroxyphenyl) alkane, 1,1-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclohexane; bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) cycloalkane such as 1,1-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) cyclodecane, 4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl, Bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) oxide, bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) sulfide, bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) sulfone, bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) sulfoxide, bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) ether, bis (4-hydroxy Phenyl) ketone, Hyde And roquinone. Examples of the monohydric phenol used as the molecular weight regulator include phenol, p-cresol, p-tert-butylphenol, p-tert-octylphenol, p-cumylphenol, nonylphenol, and the like because of cost and availability. p-tert-butylphenol and phenol are preferred.
Examples of the catalyst include tertiary amines such as trimethylamine, triethylamine and tripropylamine, and quaternary ammonium salts such as trimethylbenzylammonium chloride and triethylammonium chloride. Of these, triethylamine (TEA) is preferred.
Sodium hydroxide is preferred as the alkaline compound used to dissolve bisphenols.
As the organic solvent used in the production of the polycarbonate oligomer, methylene chloride is used as an essential component as the component (B) in terms of the solubility of the polycarbonate oligomer in the present invention.
The production method of the present invention can be applied to any one of a batch reaction system and a continuous reaction system, but is particularly suitable for a continuous reaction system production plant. In the case of producing a polycarbonate by a continuous reaction method, an alkaline aqueous solution of bisphenols, phosgene and methylene chloride are continuously supplied to an oligomer reactor to produce a polycarbonate oligomer having 60 to 99% of the terminal chloroformate group. In order to proceed with the subsequent condensation reaction quickly, it is diluted with methylene chloride to a predetermined concentration before the condensation reaction step. Next, a methylene chloride phase containing the oligomer and an aqueous alkali solution of bisphenols are introduced into a condensation reactor and subjected to a condensation reaction to a predetermined molecular weight to produce a polycarbonate.
The properties of the polycarbonate oligomer are not particularly limited, and the reaction conditions may be set as appropriate so that the molecular weight is about 600 to 5000 as measured with a VPO (vapor pressure osmometer). Those are preferred. Moreover, the aqueous phase (alkaline aqueous solution) separated from the methylene chloride phase containing the polycarbonate oligomer can also be used for the subsequent condensation reaction of the polycarbonate.
In the condensation reaction of the polycarbonate oligomer, a polymerization catalyst such as a tertiary amine or a quaternary amine can be used as necessary. The amount of the catalyst added is 1.0 × 10 −4 to 5.0 × 10 −2 , preferably 5.0 × 10 −4 to 1.0, in molar ratio with respect to the chloroformate group of the PC oligomer. × 10 -2 When the addition amount is less than 1.0 × 10 −4 , the reaction progresses slowly, and when it exceeds 5.0 × 10 −2 , the effect is not seen for the addition amount, and beyond this, It is not necessary to add. Moreover, a molecular weight regulator can also be used as needed.
After completion of the condensation reaction, the reaction solution is washed by a known method, concentrated, and pulverized to obtain a powdery polycarbonate, and further pelletized by processing with an extruder or the like. Can do.
In such a polycarbonate production process, the polycarbonate oligomer obtained by the reaction of bisphenols and phosgene is reacted to a predetermined molecular weight in the condensation process. In this case, in order to rapidly advance the reaction, B) Dilute with component methylene chloride.
In the present invention, when using recovered methylene chloride containing monomer, oligomer, carbon dioxide, sodium carbonate and the like as a solvent for dilution at that time, an inert gas such as nitrogen is passed through a venting device before adding to the oligomer. The concentration of carbon dioxide contained must be less than 0.07 mol / liter. This concentration is a concentration at which no solid (sodium carbonate) was precipitated in the condensation reaction step by experiment. The concentration of carbon dioxide contained in methylene chloride may be less than 0.07 mol / liter, but in order to make the concentration of carbon dioxide contained below 0.03 mol / liter, an excess of inert gas is required. Not efficient. Therefore, it is preferable from a practical point of view that the concentration of carbon dioxide contained in methylene chloride is less than 0.03 to 0.07 mol / liter. Here, the concentration of carbon dioxide in methylene chloride being 0.07 mol / liter means that 156 milliliters of gaseous carbon dioxide is dissolved in 100 milliliters of methylene chloride in the standard state. .
FIG. 1 is a view showing a flowchart of an example provided with a ventilation device in the method for producing a polycarbonate resin of the present invention.
This deaeration operation does not require operations such as pressurization and decompression, and can be preferably carried out at normal pressure. Although there is no particular temperature limitation in the deaeration operation, methylene chloride evaporates at 40 ° C. or higher under normal pressure, and the moving rate of carbon dioxide decreases at low temperatures. preferable. The inert gas flow rate is preferably a flow rate at which the linear velocity in the ventilation facility is 2 × 10 −5 to 5 × 10 −2 m / sec.
Next, the method for producing a polycarbonate-polyorganosiloxane copolymer according to the second embodiment of the present invention uses (C) a polycarbonate oligomer, (D) a polyorganosiloxane, and (A) bisphenols as raw materials. In producing a polycarbonate-polyorganosiloxane copolymer using (B) methylene chloride as an organic solvent, the carbon dioxide concentration in the (B) methylene chloride is less than 0.07 mol / liter. And
In the present invention, as described above, the polycarbonate oligomer of component (C) used for the production of the polycarbonate-polyorganosiloxane copolymer (PC-POS copolymer) is an alkaline aqueous solution of bisphenols, phosgene and methylene chloride. Is continuously fed to an oligomer reactor to produce a polycarbonate oligomer in which 60 to 99% of the terminals are chloroformate groups.

This is a POS that is rich in reactivity. Here, R 2 , R 3 , R 4, and R 5 each represent hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a phenyl group, and may be the same or different. X represents a hydroxyl group or an acid chloride group. Preferable examples of X—R 1 — include allylphenol and eugenol residues. n is 1 to 400. When transparency is required for the polycarbonate-polyorganosiloxane copolymer to be produced, n is preferably 5 to 50.
In the production of the PC-POS copolymer, the polyorganosiloxane of component (D) is reacted at a ratio of 0.3 to 100 (molar ratio), preferably 0.5 to 70, with respect to the PC oligomer 100. Provided. When the polyorganosiloxane is less than 0.3, the obtained PC-POS has little performance improvement due to POS, and when it exceeds 100, the molecular weight of the PC-POS copolymer is not improved.
For example, the following method is used for the production of the PC-POS copolymer according to the present invention. First, the PC oligomer of the component (C) and the POS of the component (D) are continuously mixed in a mixer using methylene chloride, which is an organic solvent, under a condition where substantially no alkaline compound is present.
The mixture of the component (C) PC oligomer and the component (D) POS continuously mixed in this mixer is fed to the reactor, mixed with a methylene chloride dilution of the catalyst (triethylamine), and then The reaction is carried out in the presence of an alkaline compound to produce a PC-POS copolymer oligomer. Furthermore, a reaction product of the PC-POS copolymer can be obtained by reacting the PC-POS copolymer oligomer with the bisphenol as the component (A) in the presence of an alkaline compound and a catalyst.
At this time, a molecular weight regulator may be used as necessary.
The PC-POS copolymer reaction product obtained by the reaction of this PC oligomer and POS has an excess of PC oligomer in the molar amount, so the PC-POS copolymer in which the PC oligomer is reacted at both ends of POS. It is a mixture of oligomer and PC oligomer. Here, the reactor is not particularly limited as long as it can stir the fluid, and may be a vertical type or a horizontal type. For example, there is a pipeline homomixer (manufactured by Special Machine Industries Co., Ltd.). And the reaction temperature in this reactor is 0-60 degreeC, Preferably it is 10-50 degreeC. Moreover, the reaction residence time should just be 1 second or more.
A preferred alkaline compound used to obtain the PC-POS copolymer or PC-POS copolymer oligomer is, for example, sodium hydroxide H. The alkaline compound is added in a molar ratio of 1 to 20, preferably 1.1 to 10, with respect to the POS end groups. If the alkaline compound is less than 1, the reaction between the PC oligomer and POS does not proceed completely, which is not preferable. On the other hand, when the alkaline compound exceeds 20, the decomposition of the chloroformate group of the PC oligomer increases, and the molecular weight of the obtained PC-POS copolymer is not improved, which is not preferable.

EXAMPLES Next, although an Example demonstrates this invention further in detail, this invention is not limited at all by these examples.
Various evaluations were performed according to the following measurement methods.
1) Measurement and measurement of carbon dioxide concentration in methylene chloride were performed using Shimadzu Corporation Co., Ltd. gas chromatography devices (GC-14A and CR-5A), and Unibead C (3m, mesh: 80/100) column. The sample was injected by injecting 20 μl of a sample at a column temperature of 190 ° C. while supplying helium as a carrier gas at 40 ml / min.
2) Viscosity number Measured according to ISO 1628-4 (1999).
3) Determination of unreacted polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) To a solution of 5.0 g of PC-PDMS dissolved in about 50 ml of dichloromethane, 400 ml of n-hexane is gradually added to reprecipitate the polymer. The polymer reprecipitation solution is subjected to suction filtration and further subjected to normal filtration.
The filtrate is concentrated to dryness, dried under reduced pressure at 110 ° C. for 2 hours, and the weight of the dried product is determined.
The dried product is dissolved in 4 ml of deuterated chloroform, and the 1 H-NMR spectrum is measured.
From the NMR spectrum, the PDMS structural unit content (% by mass) and unreacted PDMS (%) in the copolymer were determined, and the unreacted PDMS amount was determined according to the following formula. Unreacted PDMS is quantified using a peak derived from OH protons, and this peak corresponds to the broad two peaks observed at 5 to 4 ppm on the low magnetic field side.
Unreacted PDMS (mass ppm) = weight of dried product (g) × PDMS structural unit content (mass%) ÷ 100 × unreacted PDMS (%) ÷ 100 ÷ 5 (g) × 10 6
4) PDMS structural unit content
In the measurement of 1 H-NMR, the peak strength ratio of the methyl group peak of isopropyl of bisphenol A found at 1.7 ppm and the methyl group peak of dimethylsiloxane found at 0.2 ppm was obtained.

From the results of Examples 4 to 9 and Reference Example 1, there was no precipitation and adhesion of solids such as sodium carbonate during the condensation reaction by setting the carbon dioxide concentration in the methylene chloride for dilution to less than 0.07 mol / liter, Unreacted PDMS can be reduced without increasing the amount of triethylamine supplied, so that the reaction stability during condensation can be maintained, and there is no increase in the nitrogen content in the polymer. Coalescence can be produced.
