Description
The present invention relates to an information detection apparatus that detects information from a signal in which another waveform having a predetermined length is embedded in a basic carrier signal having a predetermined period. The present invention relates to a signal detection apparatus and a disk apparatus for detecting information on a disk recording medium meandering (wobbing) with a wavelength.
For example, some writable optical discs perform processing such as making a track meander at an appropriate wavelength and generating a write clock from the reproduced signal. Making the track meander at an appropriate wavelength is called so-called wobbling, and a signal obtained by modulating the reproduction signal is called a wobble signal.
Among them, there is a type in which a part of the wobble signal is replaced with another waveform and information such as an address is embedded.
Specifically, in order to record data on a disc, a means for performing guidance for forming a data track is required.
For this purpose, as shown in FIG. 15, a groove is formed in advance as a pre-groove, and the groove or land (a section plateau portion sandwiched between the groove and the groove) is used as a data track. Yes.
Further, it is necessary to record address information so that data can be recorded at a predetermined position on the data track. This address information may be recorded by wobbling (meandering) the groove.
That is, a track for recording data is formed in advance as a pregroove, for example, and the side wall of the pregroove is wobbled in correspondence with the address information.
In this way, the address can be read from the wobbling information obtained as reflected light information at the time of recording or reproduction. For example, even if pit data indicating the address is not previously formed on the track, the desired position can be read. Data can be recorded and reproduced.
In this way, by adding address information as a wobbling groove, for example, it becomes unnecessary to provide address areas discretely on a track and record addresses as pit data. Data recording capacity can be increased.
In these optical discs, a device for extracting information from a modulated wobble signal has been proposed (for example, see Patent Document 1).
In the apparatus described in
For example, as shown in FIG. 16, the photodetector PD is divided into four areas A, B, C, and D, and these divided photodetectors PD-A, PD-B, PD-C, and PD-D are divided. Are converted into signals such as an RF signal, a tracking error (TE) signal, and a focus error (FE) signal.
The RF signal is binarized through a read channel including an equalizer, a PLL (Phase Locked Loop) circuit, an analog / digital converter (Analog / Digital Converter: ADC), a Viterbi decoder, and the like.
Then, information recorded on the disc is reproduced by a demodulator and a decoder.
On the other hand, an external signal is modulated by an encoder (Encoder) and a modulator (Modulator), and desired data is recorded on the disk surface by driving a laser with a laser driver via a predetermined writing system circuit. .
As described above, the optical disk recording medium targeted by such an apparatus has so-called lands and grooves on the disk surface, and a timing signal is obtained by wobbling the shape.
Specifically, for example, a signal proportional to the meandering can be obtained by taking the difference of the sum of two signals divided in the track direction of the photodetector divided into four (same as the TE signal).
This signal is used for FG information for clock and spindle servo at the time of writing.
このように変調されたウォブル信号は、ADIP(Address In Pregroove)と呼ばれる。
The main purpose of this wobble signal is to extract a timing signal, and thus a single frequency signal is usually written. However, a part of the wobble signal can be modulated within a range that does not hinder the operation of the PLL.
The wobble signal thus modulated is called ADIP (Address In Pregroove).
As a general ADIP structure, for example, in DVD-RW which is a rewritable disc of a phase change recording system of DVD (Digital Versatile Disc), as shown in FIG. 17, there are 8 waves (8 wobbles) in 93 waves (93 wobbles). ) Are used, and sync,
In the case of Blu-ray , an MSK (Minimum Shift Keying) mark is embedded in 56 waves, and a sync pattern, data 0 (Data 0), and data 1 (Data 1) are determined by the position of the MSK mark. .
Then, the result decoded by the wobble decoder becomes information such as a final address by establishing synchronization for each unit in the next synchronization block and further synchronization for each word.
FIG. 18 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration example of a main part of the wobble decoder described in
As shown in FIG. 18, the
In this way, the
However, the
When the
For example, in DVD + RW, sync (Sync), data 0 (Data 0), and data 1 (Data 1) are represented by a combination of eight waves of the normal phase or the reverse phase.
That is, a data discrimination circuit is necessary after the detection circuit, and there is no standard for what to do when a pattern different from the above three patterns is detected.
When applied to 1.5 times FSK demodulation, as shown in (2) of FIGS. 19 (A) to 19 (E), the integration interval is extended to 2 clocks (in the description of
However, the integration start and end timings in this case are the so-called word sync (W
ord Sync) is required.
In addition, the timing of sample and hold, the timing of resetting the
Further, when digital processing is performed, in order to obtain integration accuracy, the sampling frequency needs to be higher than the carrier frequency, and the load on the hardware becomes heavy (large).
An object of the present invention is to provide an information detection circuit and a disk device capable of detecting information with good SN even though the load on the hardware is light with a simple circuit configuration.

According to the present invention, for example, in a clock recovery circuit, a clock for synchronizing with the frequency of the carrier signal is recovered and input to the sampling circuit.
In the sampling circuit, the input is sampled at a predetermined phase of the clock from which each waveform is reproduced, and the sample value is input to the calculation circuit.
In the calculation circuit, the sum of squares of errors is calculated based on the number of sample values obtained by the sampling circuit and the number of types of waveforms based on the waveform.
Then, in the selection circuit, the calculation result of the calculation circuit in each state is added to the value in the previous state based on the state transition and stored, and when there are two or more paths that can transition to the predetermined state, The smallest of the above operations is selected.
According to the present invention, wobble information can be detected with good SN with a simple circuit configuration. As a result, there is an advantage that it can contribute to higher density of the optical disc and is useful for multi-format correspondence.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
In general, there is a technique called maximum likelihood estimation in the theory of signal detection.
The detector using the maximum likelihood estimation method calculates the difference, that is, the square integral of the noise, for all patterns that may be transmitted on the transmission side, and the smallest result. It is a method that is received.
Usually, for example, when a 10-bit signal is received, a pattern of 2 to the 10th power = 1024 occurs. However, when there is a relationship between the signals, an algorithm called Viterbi decoding can be applied and theoretically the most SN It can be detected well.
In the present embodiment, by applying this principle, a device capable of detecting wobble information with a simple configuration and good SN is realized.
A specific embodiment in which the signal detection apparatus according to this embodiment is applied to an optical disc apparatus will be described below.

In the present embodiment, as described above, as shown in FIG. 2, as a wobbling method, another type of waveform (1.5 times larger) is added to a part of a wobble signal having a frequency of 1/69 of the data clock DCK. Frequency, 1.5 periods) is embedded.
Specifically, among the reference waveforms indicated by the continuous type <1> in FIG. 2, waveforms of types <2> and <4> in the drawing, that is, MSK having a frequency 1.5 times that of the reference waveform. Marks (MSK marks) are embedded in this order. The waveform of type <3> is a type obtained by inverting the phase of reference waveform <1>.
The problem is how to detect the presence and timing of these types <2>, <3>, and <4> waveforms in the presence of noise.
As shown in FIG. 2, in this case, the signal length l = 4, and when the waveforms of types <1>, <2>, <3>, and <4> appear in this order, the MSK mark is detected. That's right.

As described above, the
(Branch metric)
Since each output is a continuous waveform, it is sampled at an appropriate interval. Here, as shown in FIG. 2, each waveform is represented by sampling at three points per period.
Since the wobble period is 69T, where T is the channel clock, sampling is performed with the clock divided by 23.
This can be expressed as a vector as follows:
Each output (sample value of each waveform) when there is no noise is as follows.
Since branch metric is only a matter of magnitude, it is possible to subtract any same number. Therefore, when bm1 is subtracted, it can be expressed as follows.
Specifically, it is as follows.
The path metric corresponding to each state can be expressed as follows.
Here, bm1 is subtracted, but since it is a relative comparison by example, there is no problem even if the same number is added or subtracted. Thus, the path metric can be expressed as dm1 to dm3.
This can be realized by a circuit as shown in FIG.
The

Further, the path metric can be expressed as follows when qm i, k is defined by qm i−1, k = pm i, k −pm 1 (i = 2 to 4).
This can be realized by a circuit as shown in FIG.

The
Z=(1,−0.5,−0.5)をdm1−dm3の計算式に代入すると、次のようになる。
(Degree of improvement in SN)
It can be seen from FIG. 5 that the determination of whether it is a normal wobble (Normal Wobble) or an MSK mark depends on whether the value of qm3 is positive or negative.
First, the qm3 output when there is no noise is calculated.
When normal wobbles are continuously input, since “0” is selected in the last inversion in FIG. 5, the sum of dm1, dm2, and dm3 should be output to qm3.
Substituting Z = (1, -0.5, -0.5) into the calculation formula of dm1-dm3 gives the following.
Similarly, when the MSK mark comes, Z1 (1, -1, -1), Z2 = (1, -0.5, -0.5), Z3 = (-1) are input as dm1-dm3, respectively. , 1, -1), qm = -15 is obtained.
On the other hand, the noise is amplified according to the calculation formulas dm1 to dm3. If the original rms value is σ, the variance as seen by qm3 is given by the following equation.
For example, since the noise variance of dm1 is a noise component of z1 + 3 * z 2 and is uncorrelated by assumption, the sum of the square of 1 and the square of 3 is (1 + 9) σ 2 .
From the above formula, the rms value is amplified 7.75 times.
Here, the noise that appears in qm3 is the noise component of dm3 (k), dm2 (k-1), and dm1 (k-2), but because the timing is shifted by sampling (k to k-2), the correlation is There will be nothing.
Further, z0, z1 and z2 are also uncorrelated. Further, it is assumed that rms at the time of input does not change with σ.
When this noise signal becomes 15 or more, it is erroneously detected. In other words, 20 log (15 / 7.75) = 5.74 dB has been improved.

The phase detector takes a difference at a point shifted by 180 degrees twice in one cycle as shown in FIG. This is shown in FIG.

Since 23 times oversampling cannot obtain data with a phase exactly 180 ° shifted, one side is averaged on both sides.
In FIG. 9, the fifth and sixth averages and the 17th surface correspond to this.

This is because the first wobble W0 is a negative wobble NW as a bit sync, and the latter 4 wobbles are 2 wobbles (W4, W5) positive wobbles PW and 2 wobbles via 3 wobble (W1 to W3) positive wobbles PW. “0” data is expressed as a negative wobble NW of (W6, W7).
FIG. 12C shows an ADIP data unit that is data “1”. The first wobble W0 is a negative wobble NW as a bit sync, and the latter 4 wobbles are 2 wobbles (W6, W7) and 2 wobbles via 3 wobble (W1 to W3) positive wobbles PW. “1” data is expressed as a positive wobble PW of (W6, W7).
One channel bit is expressed as these ADIP units, and an address or the like is expressed by a predetermined number of ADIP units.
Consider branch metrics, path metrics, and data detection in this case.
(Branch metric)
Since it is a waveform, sampling is performed at an appropriate interval twice as shown in FIGS. 10 (A) and 10 (B). This can be expressed as a vector as follows:
Each output (sample value of each waveform) when there is no noise is as follows.
In this example, since two types of waveforms are compared, when defined by dm = (bm2−bm1) / 4, it can be expressed as follows.
That is, the difference between the squares of the noise part when the waveform of type <2> comes and when the waveform of type <1> comes is dm, and if this value is positive, the waveform of type <1> Will get more.
(Path metric)
The path metric corresponding to each state is determined based on the state transition diagram shown in FIG.
Except in the state A, when a transition is made from the previous state by the waveform of type <1>, the path metric of the previous state is taken over. On the other hand, when the transition is caused by the waveform of type <2>, dm is added to the path metric in the previous state.

In addition to the three types of sync unit (Sync Unit),
The
This is input to the 8-stage shift register. If it is other than A (00), 00 is input to the other stages in order to invalidate the judgment for the past seven times.
According to the first and second embodiments described above, as hardware,
1) Sample the basic waveform at an appropriate timing that makes the difference between waveforms as clear as possible (1 / Cycle or more).
2) Calculate dm using an adder / subtractor,
3) Prepare as many registers as the number of states and add the previous state and dm based on the state transition diagram.
4) Since the target optical disk always starts from a certain state and returns to that state, there is only one determination circuit.
As a result, the path memory can be a single row shift register.
In this way, the basic decoding method is the same in both examples, and it is possible to easily construct a circuit that switches both to operate.
Further, as a feature, when there is random noise, it can be detected with the highest SN, and a combination pattern of waveforms is detected as a pattern.
As a result, no other synchronizing circuit or the like is required and the system configuration is simple.
