いずれの構造も幅方向、あるいは背腹部、もしくはその両方の漏れを防止する効果がある。しかし、いずれの構造を用いても、使用済みの使いすておむつから大便をトイレへ廃棄する際には、へら等の道具を用いて使いすておむつの表面シート上の大便をすくう作業が必要であり、このときにも表面シート上の大便の移動や飛散が生じ、大便が周囲を汚しやすいという問題がある。
