BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an electric power steering apparatus that generates a steering assist force by an assist motor.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In the rack assist type electric power steering apparatus, the rotation of the output shaft of the assist motor is decelerated through a speed reduction mechanism including a pulley / belt mechanism, and then the rack shaft is moved in the axial direction via, for example, a ball screw mechanism. I am trying to convert it.
In general, in this type of electric power steering apparatus, including the electric power steering apparatus of this type, the rotation of the output shaft of the electric motor for obtaining the steering assist force is reduced by the reduction mechanism. The high reduction ratio is fixed in consideration of when the maximum axial force (torque) of the assist motor is generated.
[0003]
[Patent Document 1]
Japanese Examined Patent Publication No. 4-28583
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in this case, in the driving situation where the maximum axial force is not required, the inertia and loss torque of the assist motor increase on the steering shaft, and as a result, the steering member becomes difficult to return to the neutral position (so-called steering wheel return becomes worse) There is a problem that steering feeling becomes worse.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide an electric power steering device that can be easily returned from a steering wheel and can achieve downsizing of an assist motor.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems and Effects of the Invention]
In order to solve the above problems, the first invention provides an assist motor for generating a steering assist force, a speed reduction mechanism for reducing the rotation of the output shaft of the assist motor, and the output rotation of the speed reduction mechanism. and a conversion mechanism for converting the axial movement of the steered shaft extending in the vehicle width direction, the reduction mechanism seen including a belt type continuously variable transmission as speed reduction ratio variable mechanism for changing the speed reduction ratio, Torque detection means for detecting a steering torque applied to the steering member, vehicle speed detection means for detecting the vehicle speed, and the reduction ratio variable mechanism according to the steering torque detected by the torque detection means and the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed detection means Control means for controlling the operation of the belt type continuously variable transmission as described above, and the characteristic curve of the reduction ratio when the steering torque is on the horizontal axis and the reduction ratio is on the vertical axis corresponds to the increase of the steering torque. The first region, the second region, and the third region are sequentially included. The first region is a region where the reduction ratio takes a certain lower limit regardless of the steering torque, and the second region is accompanied by an increase in the steering torque. The third region is a region where the reduction ratio takes a constant upper limit regardless of the steering torque, and the value of the steering torque that becomes the boundary between the first region and the second region is The higher the vehicle speed is, the larger the value is. The second region is a region in which the reduction ratio increases proportionally with the increase of the steering torque, and the increase rate of the reduction ratio in the second region is the vehicle speed. It is characterized by being made smaller as it increases . In the present invention, it is possible to achieve a reduction ratio according to the load and driving conditions, and to improve the steering feeling by improving the so-called steering wheel return. The assist motor can always be used at the maximum efficiency, and the assist motor can be downsized.
[0006]
Further, since the variable reduction ratio mechanism includes a belt-type continuously variable transmission, it has the following advantages. That is , by changing the reduction ratio steplessly, the reduction ratio can be set finely, and the steering feeling can be further improved.
Furthermore, since obtain Bei a conversion mechanism for converting the output rotation of the speed reduction mechanism in the axial movement of the steered shaft extending in the vehicle width direction of the vehicle, there are the following advantages. That is , in a so-called rack assist type electric power steering device (R-EPS), an improvement in steering feeling and a reduction in size of the assist motor can be achieved.
[0007]
Further , the reduction ratio according to the torque detection means for detecting the steering torque applied to the steering member, the vehicle speed detection means for detecting the vehicle speed, the steering torque detected by the torque detection means and the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed detection means. And a control means for controlling the operation of the belt-type continuously variable transmission as a variable mechanism, and the characteristic curve of the reduction ratio when the steering torque is on the horizontal axis and the reduction ratio is on the vertical axis corresponds to the increase of the steering torque. The first region, the second region, and the third region are sequentially included. The first region is a region where the reduction ratio takes a certain lower limit regardless of the steering torque, and the second region is accompanied by an increase in the steering torque. The third region is a region where the reduction ratio takes a constant upper limit regardless of the steering torque, and the value of the steering torque that becomes the boundary between the first region and the second region is , The higher the vehicle speed, the larger the value Because it is it has the advantage of following.
Generally, in the electric power steering apparatus, when the detected torque is small, the steering assist force is relatively small, and therefore, a rotational region that is considerably lower than the maximum efficiency point of the assist motor is used. Motor friction or the like tends to be amplified on the handle shaft, which makes the handle return worse. On the other hand, in the present invention, the reduction ratio of the reduction mechanism can be changed in consideration of the detected torque, and when the detected torque is small by relatively reducing the reduction ratio when the detected torque is small. Since the assist motor can be used near the maximum efficiency point, it is possible to improve the handle return.
[0008]
Further, in general, in the electric power steering apparatus, since the steering assist force is relatively small during high-speed traveling, a rotation region that is considerably lower than the maximum efficiency point of the assist motor is used. Motor friction or the like tends to be amplified on the handle shaft, which makes the handle return worse. In contrast, in the present invention, the speed reduction ratio of the speed reduction mechanism can be changed in consideration of the vehicle speed, and the assist motor can be operated at high efficiency even at high speeds by relatively reducing the speed reduction ratio at high speeds. Since it can be used in the vicinity of the point, the handle return can be improved.
In the present invention , the second region is a region in which the reduction ratio is proportionally increased as the steering torque increases, and the increase ratio of the reduction ratio in the second region is reduced as the vehicle speed increases. Yes .

Next, a vehicle speed coefficient Cv related to the reduction ratio R and a vehicle speed coefficient Dv related to the assist current I are obtained based on the vehicle speed V (step S3).
These vehicle speed coefficients Cv and Dv are determined in advance according to the vehicle speed V. The vehicle speed coefficient Dv related to the assist current I is set to a smaller value as the vehicle speed V increases. On the other hand, the vehicle speed coefficient Cv related to the reduction ratio R is set to a larger value as the vehicle speed V increases.
[0022]
Actually, for example, the values of the vehicle speed coefficients Cv and Dv for the vehicle speed V = V1 (for example, 5 km / h), V2 (for example, 30 km / h), and V3 (for example, 80 km / h) are stored in the
Next, the reduction ratio R of the
[0023]
However, since the reduction ratio R is limited between the lower limit value R1 and the upper limit value R2 due to the mechanism, the lower limit value R1 is adopted in a region where the steering torque T is relatively small. The torque range in which the lower limit value R1 is adopted is increased as the vehicle speed V increases.
For example, the lower limit value R1 is adopted in the torque region 0 to T1 at the low vehicle speed V1, but the lower limit value R1 is adopted in the torque region 0 to T3 wider than the torque region 0 to T1 at the high vehicle speed V3. To do. Further, at the vehicle speed V2, which is a medium speed, the lower limit value R1 is adopted in a torque region 0 to T2 that is narrower than the vehicle speed V3 and wider than the vehicle speed V1.
[0024]
This is due to the following reason. That is, as the vehicle speed V increases, the rack axial force required for the electric power steering device 1 decreases, and the reduction ratio R can be set small. Moreover, in order to obtain a feeling of response, the assist force with respect to the input torque is also reduced. Conventionally, the assist amount is adjusted only by the assist current characteristics shown below, but the same effect can be obtained by setting the reduction ratio R to be small, and further the effect of reducing the motor inertia can be obtained.
[0025]
The assist current L is calculated as assist current L = vehicle speed coefficient Dv × steering torque T (step S5). As shown in FIG. 5, as the steering torque T increases, the assist current L increases. Further, the assist current L is set smaller as the vehicle speed V increases. However, the upper limit L1 of the assist current L is not exceeded.
Then, after driving and controlling the reduction

In the above embodiments, setting the reduction ratio R based on the steering torque T and the vehicle speed V. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 6 as a reference form , the speed reduction ratio R may be set so as to decrease as the vehicle speed V increases based on the vehicle speed V regardless of the steering torque T. Further, the control may be a combination of the steering torque T and the vehicle speed V, or other control factors (steering angle, engine speed, etc.) may be added.
In the above embodiment, a belt type continuously variable transmission is used as the
