【0023】
またトレッド端縁Eにおいて、前記波状曲線部Lの振幅A(本例では図2の如く、凸円弧状部Caの最も凸となる凸頂点X1と、凹円弧状部Cbの最も凹む凹頂点X2との間のタイヤ軸方向距離)が1〜3mm、より好ましくは2〜3mmとなるように設定するのが望ましい。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a pneumatic tire that can improve wandering performance.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Pneumatic tires, especially heavy-duty radial tires filled with high internal pressure and reinforced with a tough belt layer on the tread, have a shoulder with high rigidity, so that the handle is taken when traveling on a rutted road surface, for example. A so-called wandering phenomenon tends to occur. In order to suppress such wandering phenomenon, that is, to improve the wandering performance, it is known that it is effective to lower the rigidity of the shoulder portion and shift the camber thrust to the plus side. Conventionally, as shown in FIG. 8 (A), a means employing a so-called round shoulder in which the contour shape in the meridional section of the shoulder portion b is an arc b1 having a relatively large radius of curvature R, and FIG. As shown, means for providing a large number of sipes c extending in the tire axial direction on the tread edge E are employed.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, when the sipe c is formed on the tread edge E as shown in FIG. 8B, the sipe c causes uneven wear such as heel & toe wear or shoulder drop wear in the shoulder portion. It is also easy to cause damage such as chipping of rubber. In addition, as shown in FIG. 5A, a round shoulder formed by an arc b1 having a large curvature radius R tends to hinder running performance, for example, causing a large decrease in the ground contact width.
[0004]
The present invention has been devised in view of the above problems, and based on improving the shape of the buttress surface connected to the tread edge, the rigidity on the tread edge side of the land portion is optimally reduced. Accordingly, it is a main object to provide a pneumatic tire, preferably a heavy-duty radial tire, which can improve the wandering performance while preventing the above-described problems such as chipping of rubber, uneven wear, and significant reduction in ground contact width.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings by taking a heavy-duty radial tire (hereinafter, simply referred to as “tire”) as an example. FIG. 1 is a right half sectional view of a heavy duty radial tire of the present embodiment (the left half also appears substantially symmetrical), and FIG. 2 is a development view of the right half of the tread surface developed from the tread surface. In the figure, a

[0015]
The tread ground contact width TW is a tire between the outermost tread edges E and E when the tire is assembled on a regular rim, and a regular internal pressure and a regular load are applied and grounded to a plane with a camber angle of 0 degrees. An axial distance is defined as the average when the tire axial distance changes at each position in the tire circumferential direction. In addition, “regular rim” is a rim that is defined for each tire in the standard system including the standard on which the tire is based. For example, the standard rim for JATMA, “Design Rim” for TRA, or ETRTO Then it becomes "Measuring Rim". In addition, “regular internal pressure” is the air pressure that each standard defines for each tire in the standard system including the standard on which the tire is based. It is the maximum air pressure for JATMA and the table “TIRE LOAD LIMITS” for TRA. The maximum value described in "AT VARIOUS COLD INFLATION PRESSURES". If ETRTO, "INFLATION PRESSURE". In addition, “regular load” is the load that each standard defines for each tire in the standard system including the standard on which the tire is based. The maximum load capacity for JATMA and the table “TIRE LOAD for TRA” Maximum value described in “LIMITS AT VARIOUS COLD INFLATION PRESSURES”, “LOAD CAPACITY” for ETRTO, 180 kPa when tires are for passenger cars.
[0016]
Further, the

Further, the
[0018]
That is, the buttress surface B has a buttress contour line J formed by the intersection of the buttress surface B and a cylinder K having a radius r centered on the tire axis O as schematically shown in FIG. As shown in FIG. 5, a convex arcuate portion Ca made of a smooth arcuate curve that is convex outward in the tire axial direction and a concave arcuate portion Cb made of a smooth arcuate curve that is recessed inward in the tire axial direction. And a curved surface portion Ba having a curved surface in which the amplitude A of the wavy curve portion L decreases as the radius r of the cylinder K is reduced. An example provided in the inner area in the tire radial direction is illustrated. 5A to 5C show cross sections of buttress contour lines J1 to J3 shown in FIG.
[0019]
Thus, since the buttress surface B includes the curved surface portion Ba from the tread edge E to the inner region in the tire radial direction, the rigidity of the tread edge E without causing problems such as uneven wear and rubber chipping. The wandering performance can be effectively improved.
[0020]
That is, the
[0021]
In the present invention, the wandering performance can be improved by forming the curved surface portion Ba on the buttress surface B continuous with the tread edge E of the
[0022]
In order to improve the wandering performance more remarkably, the curved surface portion Ba is desirably formed on the buttress surface Ba over a range of 50% or more of the tire circumferential length, and more preferably 80% or more. Is desirable. In the present embodiment, the most preferable aspect in which the curved surface portion Ba is continuously formed on the buttress surface B over one circumference of the tire is illustrated. The curved surface portion Ba can improve the wandering performance as long as it is formed on at least one buttress surface of at least the left and right buttress surfaces B, but it is more preferable that the curved surface portion Ba be formed on the left and right buttress surfaces B. .
[0023]
Further, at the tread edge E, the amplitude A of the wavy curved portion L (in this example, as shown in FIG. 2, the convex vertex X1 that is the most convex of the convex arc-shaped portion Ca and the concave vertex X2 that is the most concave of the concave arc-shaped portion Cb). It is desirable to set the tire axial distance) to 1 to 3 mm, more preferably 2 to 3 mm. If the amplitude A is less than 1 mm, it is difficult to optimize the rigidity of the tread edge E, and there is a tendency that improvement in wandering performance cannot be expected sufficiently. Conversely, if the amplitude A exceeds 3 mm, the tread edge E The rigidity of the steel tends to change excessively and tends to be a starting point for uneven wear or the like.
[0024]
In the tread edge E, the radius of curvature R1 of the convex arcuate portion Ca of the wavy curved portion L and the radius of curvature R2 of the concave arcuate portion Cb can be different but substantially the same. It is desirable that the value is 8 to 40%, more preferably 10 to 30% of the tread ground contact width TW. In this way, when the radius of curvature R1 or R2 is limited to a certain range of the tread ground contact width TW, a more preferable pitch P of the wavy curve portion L is obtained due to the balance with the amplitude, thereby further improving the wandering performance. it can. In addition, it is preferable that the chord length of the convex or concave arc portion Ca or Cb is 0.5 to 1.0 times the length of the pitch P. In this example, the pitch P is 0.5 times. In addition, when each arcuate portion Ca, Cb of the wavy curve portion is composed of a composite arc obtained by combining a plurality of arcs, the average radius of curvature can be substantially determined.
[0025]
Further, as shown in FIG. 4, the curved surface portion Ba of the present embodiment has the largest amplitude in the wavy curved portion L passing through the tread edge E, and the wavy curved portions L1, L2,. An example is shown in which the amplitude is decreased and finally the amplitude is 0, that is, the buttress contour line J3 becomes a straight line. The ratio (H / h) of the height H in the tire radial direction from the tread edge E to the buttress contour line J3 forming a straight line and the rib height h is, for example, 1.0 to 2.0, more preferably 1. It is desirable to set to 3 to 1.7. When the ratio (H / h) is less than 1.0, the effect of moderately reducing the rigidity of the
[0026]
As described above in detail, in the present invention, the tire category is not limited to the above example, and can be applied to pneumatic tires of various categories such as for passenger cars and light trucks. Moreover, although the

Further, the amplitude of the wavy curved portion at the tread edge, the radius of curvature of the convex arc-shaped portion, and the concave arc-shaped portion are changed according to the specifications shown in Table 1. However, the amplitude center CL (shown in FIG. 2) of the wavy curved portion at the tread edge is the same for each tire.
[0029]
(Comparative tire)
The comparative example tire does not have the curved surface portion of the present invention on the buttress surface, and the tread edge is formed by a straight line extending in the tire circumferential direction. The tread patterns of Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2 are shown in FIGS. 9 (A) and 9 (B). In Comparative Example 2, a sipe c extending 10 mm in the tire axial direction is formed on the tread edge. The test method is as follows.
[0030]
(Wandering performance)
The wandering performance is a test course with a rim (22.5 × 7.50) and internal pressure (700 kPa) mounted on all wheels of a 20-ton vehicle 2-D4 (10-ton load state) and formed a bottleneck. While driving the vehicle, it was used as a steering wheel, and it was evaluated by a 10-point method based on the driver's sensuality.
[0031]
(Uneven wear, presence or absence of rubber chipping)
Each of the above performances was examined by visually checking for uneven wear on the tread edge and the presence or absence of rubber chips after running the test tires assembled on the rim under the above conditions on the front wheels of the vehicle and traveling 60000 km. The uneven wear state was examined visually for the occurrence of shoulder fall wear and track wear on the tread edge.
The test results are shown in Table 1.
[0032]
[Table 1]
[0033]
As a result of the test, it was confirmed that the tires of the examples had improved wandering performance without causing deterioration of wear performance or rubber chipping.
[0034]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, the pneumatic tire according to the present invention can effectively improve the wandering performance without causing uneven wear or rubber chipping because the buttress surface includes a predetermined curved surface portion. .
