本発明は、携帯電話,PHS(簡易無線電話:personal handyphone system)などの携帯無線端末に装備されるアンテナに関し、アンテナ機能を果たすと同時にソーラー・セル(太陽電池)としても機能するようにした新規な構造の携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナに関するものである。

【従来の技術、及び発明が解決しようとする課題】
携帯電話機で代表される携帯無線端末では、種々のサービスに対応しようとして一般に電力不足気味となっており、そのため、電気回路の低消費電力化を図るとともに、電源となる大容量の2次電池の開発が進められている。しかし、携帯無線端末の必要条件である小型・軽量化を損なうことなく2次電池の大容量化を図ることは容易でない。

本発明はこのような事情に鑑みてなされたもので、その目的は、アンテナ機能を果たすと同時にソーラー・セルとしても機能し、携帯無線端末の小型・軽量化を損なうことなく、従来に比べて供給電力容量を増やして携帯無線端末の連続稼働時間の延長を図ることができる携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
前記の目的を達成するために、請求項1の発明は、パッチ部、誘電体部及び地板部を備え、同時にソーラー・セルとしても機能する携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナであって、前記誘電体部上に前記パッチ部と接続して形成された給電用マイクロストリップラインと、前記誘電体部上に前記パッチ部及び前記給電用マイクロストリップラインと間隔をあけて形成された透明電極部と、前記誘電体部上に形成され、前記透明電極部と前記給電用マイクロストリップラインとを接続する高周波成分遮断部とを備え、前記給電用マイクロストリップライン及び前記各部それぞれがソーラー・セル用構成素材で形成されていることを特徴とする携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナである。

図4に示すように、パッチアンテナは、平面放射素子として働くパッチ部53と、アース板として働く地板部(導体板部)51と、該両者を絶縁するための誘電体部52とにより構成されている。すなわち、薄肉四角形状をなし導電性材料よりなる地板部51の上に該地板部51と同じ大きさで薄肉四角形状をなす誘電体部52が形成され、その上に地板部51及び誘電体部52よりも小形で薄肉四角形状をなし導電性材料よりなるパッチ部53が形成されている。例えば、誘電体部52はガラスエポキシ樹脂、あるいはフッ素樹脂などからなり、地板部51とパッチ部53は銅箔からなっている。前記パッチ部53における辺Lの長さが電波の約1/2波長になるように設定されており、また、誘電体部52上にはパッチ部53に接続された給電用マイクロストリップライン54が形成されている。そして、図4(b)に示すように、マイクロストリップライン54と地板部51を携帯無線端末の無線回路55に接続し、高周波電流(無線信号)RFの給電が行われることになる。

以下、本発明の実施の形態について図面を参照し説明する。

本例の携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナは、図1に示すように、ソーラー・セル用金属電極材であるAlよりなり、四角形をなす地板部1と、該地板部1上にこれと同じ大きさで形成され、ソーラー・セル用のpin型のアモルファスシリコン層よりなり、厚みが350nm(3500Å)程度で四角形をなす誘電体部2と、該誘電体部2上にこれよりも小形にて形成され、ソーラー・セル用透明電極材であるIn2 O3 とSnO2 の混合物よりなり、厚み100nm程度で四角形をなすパッチ部3と、同じく誘電体部2上にパッチ部3と接続して形成され、In2 O3 とSnO2 の混合物よりなる厚み100nm程度の給電用マイクロストリップライン4とを備えている。前記パッチ部3における辺Lの長さは電波の約1/2波長になるように設定されている。

そして、図1(b)に示すように、携帯無線端末電気回路5にはキャパシタンス要素(コンデンサ)6がインダクタンス要素(コイル)7を介して接続されており、パッチ部3に接続された給電用マイクロストリップライン4は、キャパシタンス要素6とインダクタンス要素7とを結ぶ結線に接続されている。また、地板部1は携帯無線端末電気回路5のグランド(コモン)に接続されている。これにより、給電用マイクロストリップライン4と地板部1の間に発生する信号のうち、パッチ部3による無線信号(高周波電流RF)は、直流成分を阻止し高周波成分を通すキャパシタンス要素6を介して携帯無線端末電気回路5内の図示しない無線回路に流れ、一方、パッチ部3からの光照射による光起電流は、高周波成分を阻止し直流成分を通すインダクタンス要素7を介して携帯無線端末電気回路5内の図示しない二次電池回路に流れるようになっている。

前記構成になるこの携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナは、例えば、携帯電話機の外装ケース(筐体)の操作面とは反対側のケース背面に貼着することにより、携帯電話機に取り付けることができる。また、外装ケースが光を通す透明素材よりなるものの場合は、ケース背面の内側に配設することができる。

本例の携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナは、このように構成されており、アンテナ機能を果たすと同時にソーラー・セルとしても機能し、携帯無線端末の小型・軽量化を損なうことなく、従来に比べて供給電力容量を増やすことができる。例えば、本アンテナにおいてパッチ部3の面積を10cm2 とすると、発電しうる電力は発電効率を考慮して晴天時75mW程度となる。一方、携帯電話機の平均消費電力は50mW程度であるので、常時発電できない点を考慮しても相当程度蓄電することができる。その結果、携帯電話機の連続稼働時間の延長を図ることができ、充電の手間が大幅に減って利便性の向上を図ることができる。

給電については、図2(b)に示すように、地板部1’の下から同軸ケーブル(同軸線路)8の外導体8aを該地板部1’に接続し、該同軸ケーブル8の内導体8bをパッチ部3’の給電点P位置に接続している。この同軸ケーブル8の内導体8bは前記キャパシタンス要素6とインダクタンス要素7とを結ぶ結線に接続される一方、外導体8aは携帯無線端末電気回路5のグランド(コモン)に接続されている。これにより、パッチ部3’と地板部1’の間に発生する信号のうち、パッチ部3’による無線信号はキャパシタンス要素6を介して携帯無線端末電気回路5内の無線回路に流れ、一方、パッチ部3’からの光起電流はインダクタンス要素7を介して携帯無線端末電気回路5内の二次電池回路に流れるようになっている。

このように、地板部1’の下方から垂直姿勢にて給電を行うこともできる。小型化が要求される携帯無線端末では、アンテナ設置スペースも制限されるので、給電端を適宜、適切に設定して給電線の配線を行うようにすればよい。

給電については、図3(c)に示すように、パッチ部3”に接続され、かつ高周波成分遮断部10を介して透明電極部9に接続された給電用マイクロストリップライン4’は、キャパシタンス要素6とインダクタンス要素7とを結ぶ結線に接続されている。また、地板部1”は携帯無線端末電気回路5のグランド(コモン)に接続されている。これにより、パッチ部3”による無線信号(高周波電流RF)は、キャパシタンス要素6を介して携帯無線端末電気回路5内の図示しない無線回路に流れ、一方、パッチ部3及び透明電極部9からの光起電流はインダクタンス要素7を介して携帯無線端末電気回路5内の図示しない二次電池回路に流れるようになっている。

なお、前記図3に示す実施の形態では、パッチ部の形状が方形(四角形)をした方形パッチアンテナに適用したものを示したが、これに限定されず、本発明は、パッチ部が円形をなす円形パッチアンテナのように、他の形状のパッチアンテナにも適用可能である。また、誘電体部を形成するソーラー・セル用光変換層がpin型のアモルファスシリコン層であるものについて示したが、これに限定されず、本発明は、誘電体部が、例えば、ソーラー・セル用光変換層として一般的である多結晶Si又は単結晶Siによるpn接合によって形成されるものにも適用可能である。

【発明の効果】
以上述べたように、本発明による携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナは、パッチ部、誘電体部及び地板部を、それぞれ、ソーラー・セル用構成素材で形成したものであるから、アンテナ機能を果たすと同時にソーラー・セルとしても機能することができる。また、誘電体部上に形成されたパッチ部以外の部分も有効利用してソーラー・セルとして機能させるべく、誘電体部上に、パッチ部及び給電用マイクロストリップラインと間隔をあけて、ソーラー・セル用構成素材よりなる透明電極部を形成しているので、発電電力を増やすことができる。よって、本発明による携帯無線端末用パッチアンテナによると、アンテナ機能を果たすと同時にソーラー・セルとしても機能し、かつ、携帯無線端末の限られたスペースを有効利用して効率的にソーラー発電を行うことができ、携帯無線端末の小型・軽量化を損なうことなく、従来に比べて供給電力容量を増やして携帯無線端末の連続稼働時間の延長を図ることができ、携帯無線端末の利便性の向上に寄与することができる。
