Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical disc apparatus having various sizes having compatibility as a recording or reproducing medium.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, digital images have been widely handled, and a camera-integrated optical disc apparatus that records digital moving image data using a magneto-optical disc such as MD or MO or an optical disc such as DVD-RAM as a recording medium is being commercialized. . In the case of a camera-integrated video for recording moving image data, there is a strong demand for miniaturization of the optical disk medium itself and reduction of the overall product size because of its position as a portable device. To date, there are discs such as CDs and DVDs in which no cartridge is loaded as recording media having different small diameter sizes in the same format. In these optical disks, the optical disk holding standards (holding structure, holding area, and recording area in the inner peripheral portion) are unified, and even when a small-diameter optical disk is used in the same drive, the optical disk holding means is used. There is no need to change the size of the optical pickup or the optical pickup. Basically, the height reference plane of the recording surface of these optical discs is always in the same direction as the recording surface, and the same applies to an optical disc of a double-sided recording type such as a DVD.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, large-diameter optical discs that require large capacities and small-diameter optical discs that require further improvements in portability and capacities, each have standards specific to their use, such as physical holding of discs. It has become difficult to unify various standards. FIG. 8 shows recording areas (shaded portions) of the large-diameter

[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the optical disk apparatus of the present invention can record or reproduce a small-diameter optical disk and a large-diameter optical disk having a large size different from that of the small-diameter optical disk, and is common to all the disks. In an optical disc apparatus equipped with an optical pickup of
The spindle motor for large-diameter discs and the spindle motor for small-diameter discs are arranged on opposite sides of the optical disc, and any one of the spindle motors can record or reproduce in accordance with the operation of loading any of the optical discs into the mechanism. The optical disk is held by moving to the holding position of the optical disk, and the center axis of the spindle motor for the large-diameter disk and the spindle motor for the small-diameter disk does not coincide with each other. It is characterized in that it is set to a movable range when

In the present embodiment, the optical disc is a single-sided recording method, can be recorded or reproduced, has a plurality of types of radii, and is in the same plane direction as the recording surface that serves as a reference for the recording surface height. The second reference surface may be provided in the back surface direction with respect to the surface and the recording surface.
[0019]
Further, in this embodiment, the optical disk cartridge accommodates and protects the above-described optical disk, and holds the second reference surface other than the opening for holding the first reference surface and recording or reproduction by the optical pickup. It is possible to have an opening for doing so.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, in the optical disc and the optical disc recording / reproducing apparatus of the present invention, the optical disc loaded in the mechanism is held by the spindle motor corresponding to a plurality of reference planes, so that recording of the optical discs having greatly different recording areas and diameter sizes can be performed. Playback can be done with one mechanism, and compatibility is possible.
