Description

【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a separation mechanism of a fixing device mounted on an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a printer, or a facsimile.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A fixing device mounted on an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine or a printer is generally a heat fixing type fixing device that fixes a toner image by applying heat and pressure.
A heat-fixing type fixing device includes a fixing member and a pressure member, and the pressure member presses against the fixing member to form a fixing nip portion. The recording material on which the unfixed toner image is formed passes through the fixing nip portion to fix the image, and then is forcibly separated from the fixing member or the pressure member by the separation mechanism and discharged. The separation mechanism is provided on the fixing member or the pressure member in contact with the toner image, and is usually provided on the fixing member side.
The separation mechanism includes a separation member, a holding member that fixes the separation member, and a member that connects them. The separation member is held by the holding member in a state where the tip end portion is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the fixing member with a gap provided or in a state of being elastically contacted.
[0003]
The holding member is usually manufactured by processing a metal. This is because the separation member is used in contact with the fixing member and is used at a very high temperature, and therefore a member having excellent heat resistance and durability is suitable. However, as a result, when a holding member having a complicated shape is required, a desired shape must be obtained by combining several parts, which inevitably becomes an expensive part.
Further, the separation member is made of a resin in view of characteristics such as not to damage the fixing member. However, since the holding member is a metal, it must be designed in consideration of the difference in thermal expansion, and the related dimensions of the separation member and the holding member are not necessarily optimal depending on the use temperature.
When the dimensions are changed by thermal expansion and the effect of the separation mechanism is weakened, the recording material is not separated but is caught in the fixing member, and paper jam easily occurs. Further, if the contact pressure of the separation member is too strong, a streak-like scratch is caused on the surface of the fixing member. The flaws on the fixing member cause abnormal images such as poor fixing of the toner image and image smearing.
[0004]
Further, the attachment position of the separation mechanism is normally set to a position in the width direction that can correspond to a recording material size that is frequently used. If it says in Japan, it is the size of A series and B series. However, depending on the user, a recording material having a special size that does not depend on the series may be used for general purposes. In such a case, if the position of the separation mechanism is inappropriate, a problem such as frequent paper jams may occur.
In addition, there is a problem that paper curl occurs due to the nature of the recording material. Paper curl is a phenomenon in which the recording material is curled due to heat and other factors during fixing. This is not very desirable for image quality. If the curl is severe, it will be separated from the fixing member but it will not be transported well, causing a paper jam. It may cause.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In view of the above problems, the present invention provides a separation mechanism for a fixing device that can separate a recording material from a fixing member satisfactorily over a long period of time with an inexpensive configuration regardless of the operating temperature of the fixing device.
In addition, a fixing device having a separation mechanism having an excellent separation function and preventing paper jams, abnormal images, paper curl, and the like is provided.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problem, the present invention according to claim 1 includes a separation member disposed in contact with or near the fixing member, and a holding member that rotatably supports the separation member. in the separation mechanism of the fixing device, the holding member, the fixing is mounted for changing the circumferential direction of the mounting position of the member, the housing for supporting the holding member has a plurality of window portions are formed, the The fixing device separating mechanism is characterized in that the holding member is positioned by hooking a locking portion formed on the holding member to the window portion.
[0007]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
An embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing an example of an image forming apparatus equipped with a fixing device according to the present invention. The image forming apparatus shown in the figure is a multifunction peripheral having both functions as a copier and a printer. However, the image forming apparatus referred to in the present invention is not limited to this, and is not limited to a facsimile apparatus or a complex function. Includes functional ones.
In the image forming apparatus, an image reading unit 3 for reading an image of a document is arranged at the upper part, and the image forming unit 1 is arranged substantially at the center of the apparatus with a space part 4 below the image reading unit 3. Below the image forming unit 1, a paper feeding unit 2 capable of supplying a recording material such as paper is disposed.
In addition, the image forming apparatus is provided with a manual sheet feeding table 26 for manually feeding paper on the right side surface of the image forming apparatus. The manual paper feed tray 26 is normally housed in the image forming apparatus, and is used in a state of being rotated around a fulcrum 27 as necessary. An auxiliary table 28 accommodated in the manual sheet feed table 26 can be pulled out from the front end side of the manual sheet feed table 26.
[0008]
In the image forming unit 1, a charging device 6 that charges the surface of the photosensitive member 5 around the drum-shaped photosensitive member 5 as an image carrier, and an exposure device that irradiates the surface of the photosensitive member 5 with image information with laser light. 7. A developing device 8 for visualizing an electrostatic latent image formed by exposure on the surface of the photoconductor 5, a transfer device 9 for transferring a toner image developed on the photoconductor 5 to a sheet 25, and a photoconductor after transfer. A cleaning device 10 that removes and collects toner remaining on the surface 5 is disposed.
[0009]
The paper feed unit 2 includes a paper feed cassette 21 for stacking and storing mainly unused paper 25. The paper feed cassette 21 can be attached to and detached from the image forming apparatus from the front side of the apparatus, improving operability and workability when the paper 25 is replenished. In the paper feed cassette 21, paper 25 is stacked on a bottom plate 22 that is rotatably supported, and is pressed by a spring 24 so as to press the uppermost paper 25 against the paper feed roller 23.
In the paper feed unit 2, when an image formation command is issued, the uppermost paper 25 is sent out from the paper feed cassette 21 by the rotation of the paper feed roller 23, and its conveyance is temporarily stopped by a registration roller 14 provided in front of the transfer unit. The toner image on the photoconductor 5 and the leading edge of the paper 25 are fed so that the timing is set to a predetermined position, and the toner image is copied when passing through the transfer portion. .
[0010]
In the image reading unit 3, in order to read and scan an image of a document (not shown) placed on the contact glass 32, a reading traveling body including a document illumination light source 43 and a plurality of mirrors 44 </ b> M reciprocates. Image information scanned by the reading traveling body is read as an image signal by a photoelectric conversion element 35 such as a CCD installed behind the lens 31. The read image signal is digitized and subjected to image processing.
An electrostatic latent image is formed on the surface of the photosensitive member 5 by light emission of a laser diode (not shown) of the exposure device 7 based on the signal processed by the image reading unit 3. That is, the optical signal from the laser diode reaches the photoconductor 5 through a known polygon mirror or lens, and forms an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photoconductor 5.
[0011]
The electrostatic latent image moves with the rotation of the photosensitive member 5, is visualized with toner supplied from the developing device 8, and further moves toward the transfer device 9. The paper 25 carrying the toner image by the transfer device 9 goes to the fixing device 11.
In the fixing device 11, a fixing member 11 a and a pressure member 11 b are arranged in the apparatus housing. The fixing member 11a is a roller that is disposed on the side in contact with the toner image carried on the paper 25 and has a release layer on the surface of a hollow cylinder made of a good thermal conductor, and has a heat source disposed therein. Yes. The pressure member 11b is a roller member having an elastic layer on the surface of the core metal, and can be configured to form a fixing nip portion by rotating in conjunction with the fixing member 11a while being in pressure contact therewith. The toner image carried on the paper 25 is heated and fixed by the action of heat and pressure while being nipped and conveyed at the fixing nip portion. The fixing member 11a may use a belt system.
[0012]
The paper 25 after fixing is separated from the fixing member 11a or the pressure member 11b by a separation mechanism (not shown), and is discharged onto a paper discharge tray 41 arranged in the space 4. The sheet 25 that has been copied is discharged and stacked on the discharge tray 41 by the discharge roller pair 12.
Although not shown, an automatic document feeder that automatically conveys the document onto the contact glass is attached above the image reading unit 3. The automatic document feeder can be arbitrarily attached and detached, and is not necessarily provided in the image forming apparatus.
[0013]
FIG. 2 is a view showing a separation mechanism of the present invention. The separation member 101 is made of a heat resistant resin and is rotatably supported by the rotation hole 102a of the holding member 102 by the rotation shaft 101a. The holding member 102 that supports the separation member 101 is fixed to the housing 103 by inserting the shaft 102 b into the groove 103 b of the housing 103 and hooking the snap fit 102 c on the square window 103 c of the housing 103.
A schematic cross-sectional view after fixation is shown in FIG. The separation member 101 is urged by the elastic member 104 and comes into contact with the fixing member 11a.
[0014]
The separation mechanism of the present invention is characterized in that the holding member 102 is made of a heat resistant resin. By forming a resin instead of a metal as in the prior art, it is possible to easily manufacture a component having a complicated shape at a low cost. In addition, by forming the holding member 102 with resin, the separation member 101 and the holding member 102 can maintain the optimum related dimensions regardless of the operating temperature. Considering the stress at the time of thermal expansion, it is preferable to use the same resin for the separation member 101 and the holding member 102, but different resins may be used.
In addition, although the separation member 101 can use a claw-shaped thing suitably, it is not limited to this.
[0015]
The same applies to the housing 103 to which the holding member 102 is attached. In the fixing device of the present invention, the housing 103 is formed of resin, so that it is possible to cope with a complicated shape in combination with the holding member 102. The resin is preferably a heat resistant resin.

FIG. 4 is an example in which the mounting position of the holding member 102 can be changed in the paper width direction of the housing 103. By providing a plurality of grooves 103b in the paper width direction of the housing 103 and attaching the holding member 102 at a position corresponding to the paper size, it is possible to cope with various paper sizes.
FIG. 5 shows an example of the housing 103 in which the attachment position of the holding member 102 can be changed in the circumferential direction of the fixing member 11a. A plurality of square windows 103 c are provided in the circumferential direction of the fixing member 11 a of the housing 103, and the circumferential mounting position can be changed by the position where the snap fit 102 c of the holding member 102 is hooked. By moving the contact position of the separation member 101 with respect to the fixing member 11a in the circumferential direction and disposing it at a position suitable for the paper, paper curling can be prevented. An outline of the operation is shown in FIGS.
FIG. 6 shows a case where the square window 103c-1 in FIG. 5 is used. The square window 103c-1 is a direction in which the holding member 102 approaches the fixing nip portion, and as a result, the leading end of the separation member 101 also approaches the fixing nip portion. As a result, the curl in the image surface direction of the paper 25 is reduced. FIG. 7 shows a case where the square window 103c-3 is used. The square window 103c-3 is a direction in which the holding member 102 moves away from the fixing nip portion, and as a result, the tip of the separating member 101 also moves away from the fixing nip portion. As a result, the curl of the paper 25 in the non-image surface direction is reduced.
By switching these depending on the curl state of the paper 25, it is possible to obtain a good image with little curl.
[0017]
FIG. 8 shows an example in which the holding member 102 can be swung. The holding member 102 is swingable in a direction indicated by a double arrow A in FIG. Usually, the holding member 102 is urged by the elastic member 104, and the tip of the separation claw 101 is in contact with a predetermined position of the fixing member 11a.
For example, consider a case where the paper 25 is jammed in the vicinity of the separating member 101 in a bellows shape. The paper 25 that has lost its destination is pressed by the conveyance path, and applies a force in the direction of arrow B to the separation claw 101. As a result, the leading end of the separation claw 101 bites into the fixing member 11a, and conventionally, the surface of the fixing member 11a is damaged.
[0018]
In the present invention, this problem is solved by swinging the holding member 102. Since the holding member 102 is swung, when the separating member 101 receives a force from the paper 25 in the direction of arrow B, the holding member 102 moves under the force in the direction of arrow C in FIG. At this time, the separating member 101 moves together with the holding member 102, and here, the other end of the separating member 101 is pressed against the separating member guide rib 103 d provided on the housing 103. The separation member 101 rotates with the pivot hole 102a as a fulcrum, and as shown in FIG. 8 (b), its tip is separated from the fixing member 11a and does not damage the fixing member 11a.
Further, as shown in FIG. 9A, the holding member 102 may be provided with a sheet guide rib 102d, or as shown in FIG. 9B, a roller 105 holding function may be provided. Reliability can be enhanced by integrally molding the auxiliary function.
[0019]
FIG. 10 is a diagram illustrating an example in which the separation member 101 is attached to the housing 103 without using the holding member. Attachment is possible by making the separating member 101 into a shape that matches the groove 103 b of the housing 103. In this example, the above-described effect relating to the holding member cannot be obtained, but it is possible to provide a low-cost device, and an advantage that the user can select an added value and a low price can be expected.
[0020]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the holding member is made of a heat-resistant resin, so that the dimensions related to the separation member and the holding member are optimized regardless of the operating temperature, and the complicatedly shaped parts are inexpensive. Thus, it is possible to provide a separation mechanism for a fixing device that can achieve high added value.
In addition, by using the above separation mechanism and the housing of the fixing device made of resin, the dimensions related to the separation member and the holding member can be optimized regardless of the operating temperature, and parts with complex shapes can be manufactured at low cost. It is possible to provide a fixing device that prevents paper jams, abnormal images, paper curl, and the like.
