BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a heat Denmoto element used in the cooling device utilizing the Peltier effect of generating a temperature difference by flowing a thermoelectric element or a current is used to power generator using the Seebeck effect for power generation by the application of heat gradients .
[0002]
[Prior art]
A thermocouple generates a voltage by giving a temperature difference between its two ends. This is the Seebeck effect, and a power generation device can be obtained by taking out this voltage as electric energy.
According to such thermoelectric power generation, heat energy can be directly converted into electric energy, and therefore, it has been attracting attention as an effective use method of heat energy as represented by waste heat utilization.
[0003]
On the other hand, when a current is passed through the thermocouple, heat is generated at one end and heat is absorbed at the other end. This is the Peltier effect, and a cooling device can be obtained using this endothermic phenomenon.
Since such a cooling device does not include mechanical parts and can be miniaturized, it is used as a portable refrigerator or a local cooler such as a laser or an integrated circuit.

As a thermoelectric element used for a power generation device or a cooling device, for example, the structure shown in FIG. 11 is disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 63-20880.

[0008]
For this reason, generally, after forming the electrode, a thermal gradient is applied and the polarity is confirmed by a tester or the like, and then a means for wiring the lead-out line to the outside is taken.
[0009]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The arrangement of the thermoelectric semiconductor element in the thermoelectric element block as described above has a problem that the polarity of the thermoelectric element after electrode formation is not clear. For this reason, the plus / minus of the lead wire from the thermoelectric element to the outside may be reversed, and it may be necessary to change the mounting form, or the wiring may be mistakenly reversed and cannot be used.
Further, the thermoelectric semiconductor must be measured with a tester or the like using a fine probe at the stage of the thermoelectric element block, and positive and negative must be confirmed, which increases the number of processes. Furthermore, after measuring with a tester, it must be stored so that positive and negative can be seen.
[0010]

The object of the present invention is to provide means for distinguishing the n-type thermoelectric semiconductor element from the thermoelectric element block and the p-type thermoelectric element from the cross-sectional shape of the thermoelectric element, and to change the polarity of the thermoelectric element completed by electrode formation. The purpose is to enable easy determination.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, the best mode for carrying out the thermoelectric element of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In addition, although the first conductivity type thermoelectric semiconductor is described as an n-type thermoelectric semiconductor and the second conductivity type thermoelectric semiconductor is described as a p-type thermoelectric semiconductor, they may be reversed.

In other words, since the arrangement relationship of the thermoelectric semiconductor elements can be accurately grasped at the stage of the thermoelectric element block, the polarity of the thermoelectric element can be determined by characterizing the pattern of the electrode to be formed, the position of the external connection electrode, etc. Can be easily determined.
[0015]
Next, a method for manufacturing the thermoelectric element of the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
First, an n-type

Subsequently, in the process shown in FIG. 2, the vertical groove 26 is formed in the n-type
[0018]
Then, the width of the vertical partition wall 27 of the n-type grooved block 21 and the width of the vertical partition wall 24 of the p-type grooved block 22 are changed (in this embodiment, the width of the partition wall of the n-type grooved block 21 is increased. is there).
Thus, by changing the widths of the vertical barrier ribs 24 and the vertical barrier ribs 27, the sectional areas of the n-type
[0019]
In addition, the width of the vertical groove of one grooved block is set to be larger than the width of the vertical partition wall of the other block. This is a necessary condition for fitting the blocks 22 together.
[0020]
The longitudinal grooves 23 and 26 are processed by polishing with a wire saw.
[0021]
Since the wire cross section of the wire saw is circular, the bottoms of the processed grooves of the longitudinal grooves 23 and 26 are strictly curved, but here, for convenience of drawing, they are illustrated as flat bottoms in FIG.
[0022]
Each thermoelectric semiconductor block was formed with vertical grooves having a depth of 3 mm (outside of 4 mm in the thickness direction) and a pitch of 120 μm. The groove width dimension was 60 μm for the n-type vertical groove 26 and for the p-type. The longitudinal groove 23 is 80 μm.
[0023]
In the process of FIG. 3, the vertical partition wall 24 of the p-type grooved block 22 is inserted into the vertical groove 26 of the n-type grooved block 21 shown in FIG.
The combined two blocks are formed as an

Further, the depth of the lateral groove 46 is formed up to a portion where the vertical groove 26 and the vertical partition wall 27 of the n-type thermoelectric semiconductor and the vertical groove 23 and the vertical partition wall 24 of the p-type thermoelectric semiconductor in the
[0029]
Unlike the vertical groove 26, the width of the horizontal groove 46 is preferably as thin as possible. This is because the thermoelectric semiconductor directly related to the device function remains in the portion of the horizontal partition wall 47, and it is preferable in view of device performance to make the region of the horizontal groove 46 as small as possible.
[0030]
Therefore, in this description, the lateral grooves 46 having a pitch of 120 μm, a width of 40 μm, and a depth of 4 mm are formed. The groove width of 40 μm is almost the limit value as a narrow width in wire saw processing.
[0031]
Following the above steps, the lateral groove 46 is filled with an epoxy insulating resin and cured to form an insulating resin layer. The grooved integrated block 43 solidified by the insulating resin layer is removed by grinding the upper and lower surfaces so as to leave a fitting portion between the vertical groove 26 of the n-type thermoelectric semiconductor and the vertical partition wall 24 of the p-type thermoelectric semiconductor. [Second Embodiment: FIG. 8]
In the thermoelectric element blocks of the embodiments so far, the thermoelectric semiconductor pieces of the same type are arranged in a stripe shape, but the effect of the present invention is not necessarily limited to this, and n-type and p-type Any type of thermoelectric semiconductor can be used as long as it is arranged with a certain regularity.
[0040]
FIG. 8 of this embodiment is one of such regular arrangements, and the n-type
[0041]
As a method of manufacturing the thermoelectric element block of this embodiment, a large number of rectangular bar-shaped n-type thermoelectric semiconductor elements and smaller rectangular bar-shaped p-type thermoelectric semiconductor elements smaller than this are prepared, and these are shown in FIG. There is a method of arranging them one by one and then hardening them with an adhesive.
[0042]
However, in this manufacturing method, the size of the thermoelectric semiconductor element that can be handled by tweezers or the like can be said to be about several hundred μ square or more in terms of strength. Therefore, a method similar to the first embodiment is preferable as a method of forming a thermoelectric element using a finer thermoelectric semiconductor element.
[0043]
In this method, first, vertical grooves 26 and 23 having different widths are formed in the n-type and p-type thermoelectric semiconductor blocks in the same manner as shown in FIG. 2, and subsequently, this block is shown in FIG. Groove in the same direction.
At this time, if n-type and p-type thermoelectric semiconductor blocks have the same lateral groove width, a block in which square bar-shaped thermoelectric semiconductor elements are arranged like a sword is obtained. Moreover, as shown in FIG. 8, the n-type thermoelectric semiconductor element is thicker than the p-type one.
Thereafter, the blocks in which the n-type thermoelectric semiconductor pieces and the p-type thermoelectric semiconductor pieces are arranged in a sword mountain shape are combined in a shape similar to FIG. An adhesive is injected into the combined gap and solidified and fixed.
Subsequently, the

【The invention's effect】
As described above, in the present invention, the n-type thermoelectric semiconductor element and the p-type thermoelectric semiconductor element are formed before the formation of the wiring electrode by giving unique characteristics to the shape and arrangement of the thermoelectric semiconductor element of the thermoelectric element block. The position of the piece can be confirmed accurately, and the positions of the wiring electrodes and the input / output terminals can be easily determined.
For this reason, the plus and minus of the lead-out line to the outside will not be reversed. In addition, there is no need to change the mounting form, and there is no possibility that the wiring is mistakenly reversed and cannot be used.
In addition, there is no need for a process of measuring plus / minus with a tester or the like at the thermoelectric element block stage. This facilitates storage in the thermoelectric element block.
