β=p/d
Δy=(V/tanθ)・ΔT
s・x=S・H
B=M・P+Δp (但し、Mは自然数)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical scanning device used in a writing system such as a digital copying machine and a laser printer, and more particularly to a multicolor image forming apparatus that forms a color image by superimposing a plurality of color toner images.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In an image forming apparatus using the Carlson process, latent image formation, development, and transfer are performed according to the rotation of the photosensitive drum. Therefore, in a multicolor image forming apparatus in which a plurality of photosensitive drums are arranged along the transfer direction of the transfer body and the toner images formed at the image forming stations of the respective colors are overlaid, the latent images due to the eccentricity of the photosensitive drums and the variation in the diameter are reduced. Depending on the time from image formation to transfer, the difference between the photosensitive drums provided for each color, the speed of the transfer body, for example, the transfer belt or the conveyance belt for conveying the recording paper, The toner image undergoes registration misregistration, which causes color misregistration and color change and degrades image quality.
Further, in an optical scanning device that forms a latent image on a photosensitive drum, if the latent image forming position on the photosensitive drum is not accurately matched, color misregistration and color change may be caused.
[0003]
Conventionally, this registration error is not classified by the optical scanning device and other than the optical scanning device, and the sub-scanning position is detected by the registration error detection pattern recorded on the transfer member, and the writing timing is adjusted, and the sub-scanning direction is adjusted. In contrast, the skew of the scanning line is corrected by skewing the mirror (see, for example,
[0004]
Further, the bending of the scanning line is an example in which a scanning lens having power in the sub-scanning direction is deformed along the main scanning direction (see, for example, Patent Document 3) or an example in which the optical axis of the scanning lens is shifted with respect to the light beam ( For example, refer to Patent Document 4), and an example in which the scanning lens is tilted in a plane orthogonal to the scanning surface (for example, refer to Patent Document 5) has been proposed.
[0005]
On the other hand, there is disclosed an example in which the image forming means is composed of a scanning lens that is common to each color beam and has no power in the sub-scanning direction, and a scanning lens for each color beam (see, for example, Patent Documents 6 and 7).
[0006]
As described above, in a multi-color image forming apparatus in which a plurality of image forming stations are arranged along the transport direction of the transfer body and color superposition is performed, the latent image formed at each image forming station (hereinafter simply referred to as a station). If the registration positions at the transfer positions are not aligned with each other, color misregistration and color change may occur.
[0007]
However, in the optical scanning device, even if the shift of the scanning position between the stations, which causes the registration shift in the initial stage, is adjusted, the deformation of the housing, the change in the refractive index of the scanning lens, etc. occur with the change of the environmental temperature. Therefore, fluctuation over time is inevitable.
[0008]
Therefore, this is dealt with by periodically detecting and correcting the registration deviation as described above. However, when trying to correct the scanning line inclination and bending in addition to the main scanning and sub-scanning writing positions of the scanning line. There is a problem that it takes time and the adjustment mechanism becomes complicated and large.
[0009]
Conventionally, the registration error correction is performed by electrically changing the writing timing at each station, and the writing timing can be easily adjusted by using a synchronization detection signal for each polygon mirror as a trigger.
[0010]
However, the scan line tilt or bend must be mechanically corrected, and the scan line bend (or scan line tilt) as the optical element moves to adjust the scan line tilt (or scan line bend). ) Also fluctuates and adjustment is troublesome, and in order to detect the adjustment result, it is necessary to record a registration deviation detection pattern on the transfer member. Since recording is disabled and the startup time is long, it is desirable to avoid frequent operations.
In addition, it was not possible to drive to the minimum, it was difficult to accurately match, and stable scanning position accuracy could not be maintained until time.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described. Terms in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction are used in accordance with the following concept. Usually, the “main scanning direction” and the “sub-scanning direction” mean the direction in which the beam spot is scanned on the surface to be scanned and the direction orthogonal thereto, but in this text, at each location of the optical path (on the surface to be scanned) The directions corresponding to the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction (in a broad sense) are called “main scanning direction” and “sub-scanning direction”, respectively.

The writing timing is determined by using a synchronization detection signal for each surface of the polygon mirror as a trigger. In other words, even if D, α, and B are different from each other, there is no speed fluctuation, and as long as the writing position does not fluctuate, only the writing start timing shift Δp remains.
[0068]
This Δp is ½ of 1 pitch at the maximum and Δp ≦ p / 2. In this example, the optical axis is varied in the sub-scanning direction by the bias potential applied to the liquid crystal deflecting element, and Δp is Control to 0 and reset as initial value.
[0069]
By the way, in the embodiment, a semiconductor laser array in which four light sources are formed monolithically is used, and four lines are simultaneously scanned for each surface of the polygon mirror. The optical axis is changed.
[0070]
FIG. 7 shows a case where the semiconductor laser array in the light source unit has four light emitting sources. Reference numerals LD-1 to LD-4 indicate the positions of light spots formed at the writing position WR on the photosensitive drum DR1 by the light beams emitted from these four light emitting sources. Thus, when multi-beam scanning is performed using the semiconductor laser array of this example, it is possible to optically scan four scanning lines at a time.
[0071]
In FIG. 7, reference numeral N denotes a deflecting / reflecting surface of a polygon mirror that simultaneously deflects four light beams, and N + 1 denotes a deflecting / reflecting surface that performs the next deflection of the deflecting / reflecting surface. . As shown in the figure, every time one deflecting / reflecting surface is switched, four scanning lines are optically scanned.
[0072]
When the photosensitive drum DR1 starts writing at the writing position WR, each of the light spots LD-1, LD-2, LD-3, and LD-4 formed by a plurality of light beams deflected by the same deflecting and reflecting surface. Among the positions, the light beam (LD− in the figure) has the smallest difference from the “registration position of the reference color (right side in FIG. 7)” of the
[0073]

[0074]
In the subsequent stage multiplexer MP2, the head line is selected based on the reference position data, the output semiconductor laser is switched, and the contents stored in the buffer memories M1 to M4 are read in synchronization with the synchronization signal for each surface of the polygon mirror. The light emitting sources LD-1 to LD-4 of the semiconductor laser array are driven via the write control unit WCT. At this time, the image data that has not been written by the deflection by the same deflection reflection surface is stored and recorded until the next deflection reflection surface.
[0075]
At this time, the main scanning timing until the image is written with the synchronization detection signal from the synchronization detection sensor (113, 115, etc.) as a trigger is based on the detection result of the main scanning registration position for each station, and the reference color, each image area, Are reset by the writing control unit WCT so that the center positions of the image areas coincide with each other, so that the image areas overlap each other.
[0076]
Note that the setting of the sub-scanning and main-scanning registration positions described above is periodically performed so as to suit the use environment of the image forming apparatus by using a preparation period before a print job or a waiting period between jobs.

A pulse voltage is applied to each of the liquid crystal deflecting elements, and the alignment of the liquid crystal changes linearly in accordance with the voltage or pulse width, and the optical axis passing therethrough can be arbitrarily tilted.

Further, the
[0081]
In this example, as shown in FIG. 1, since the
(Δt) = j · δ, j is determined by a preset coefficient.
[0082]
Therefore, it is possible to control so that no registration deviation occurs on the photosensitive drum.
[0083]
The time difference (Δt) is always detected, and the applied voltage is adjusted so as to maintain the direction of the optical axis between image recordings (between pages).
[0084]
Similarly, the scanning position on the surface of the photoconductor can be accurately corrected by providing a toroidal lens in the vicinity of the photoconductor and not providing an extra optical element therebetween, thereby giving an adjustment amount substantially proportional to the detection result.
[0085]
In this way, in the long-term range, the time difference (Δt) is reset according to the amount of registration deviation by periodically detecting the registration on the transfer belt, and in the short-term range, the set value is maintained so that the set value is maintained. Are monitored by the synchronization detection sensors (113, 115, 113 ′, 115 ′) arranged in FIG. 1, and corrected by the liquid crystal deflecting elements (107, 108, 612a, 612b).
[0086]
FIG. 8A shows an example of the recording pitch variation in the sub-scanning direction on the image.
This fluctuation is, for example, a combination of a large waviness figure 8 (2) generated in one rotation cycle due to speed fluctuation of the photosensitive drum and a small waviness figure 8 (3) generated in one rotation cycle of the driving roller due to speed fluctuation of the transfer belt. As described above, even when the writing timings of the respective colors are matched, the resist position periodically changes due to the speed fluctuation.
[0087]
Conventionally, in order to reduce the registration error caused by these, the interval between the transfer positions of each color (station interval) is set to be an integral multiple of the circumference of the photosensitive drum and an integral multiple of the circumference of the drive roller. The peripheral speed at the transfer position of the photosensitive drum at the moment of transfer and the peripheral speed at the transfer position of the transfer belt are considered to be equal for each color.
[0088]
In the above-described embodiment of the liquid crystal deflecting element, the case where the resist is uniformly displaced has been described. However, when the speed of the transfer belt fluctuates temporally due to the speed fluctuation of the driving

[3]Supplementary matter
BookAny of the types shown in FIGS. 11 and 12 can be used as the scanning trajectory varying means of the invention. The optical scanning apparatus to which these scanning trajectory varying means are applied is the type shown in FIG. 1 and is a type in which a light beam is incident from both directions of the deflecting means and the scanning light is guided to each scanning surface. 2 shows a type in which a light beam is incident only from one direction of the deflecting means and the scanning light is guided to each surface to be scanned.
[0129]
Any of the above-described scanning trajectory changing means can be applied to any of the optical scanning devices shown in FIGS. The optical scanning device scans each surface to be scanned (photosensitive drum) while sharing a part of optical members such as a deflecting unit, an imaging unit, and a folding mirror for a plurality of light beams.
[0130]
The scanning trajectory changing means exemplified in FIGS. 11 and 12 is the same optical element, in this example,
[0131]
By acting on the same optical element and adjusting the inclination and bending of the scanning line, conventionally, in the method of providing individually, after adjusting one, adjusting the other, the former is shifted accordingly, Although it was not possible to match accurately unless repeated and driven, these adjustments can be performed together, and other optical elements are maintained as they are, so that it can be driven by one adjustment and wasted time. It can be omitted and can be accurately matched, so that high-quality color image recording without color shift or color change can be performed.
[0132]
ExampleFor example, in the optical scanning device shown in FIGS. 1 and 6, each light beam from a light source unit 609 having two light sources (
[0133]
Similarly, the light beam for scanning the
[0134]
As described above, among the plurality of imaging means, the imaging means other than the optical element (for example, the toroidal lens) provided with the scanning trajectory changing means is common to each station (each photosensitive drum), so that the light can be obtained. By applying the scanning device to a color image forming device, it is possible to avoid factors that cause relative registration displacement such as individual posture changes according to environmental changes, and stable color image recording that does not cause color displacement or color change over time. Can be performed.
[0135]
ExampleFor example, in the optical scanning device shown in FIGS. 1 and 6, each of the plurality of imaging units has an optical element (fθ lens) having no power in the sub-scanning direction and a power in the sub-scanning direction, and scanning. An optical element (toroidal lens) provided with trajectory varying means is used. This also applies to the optical scanning device shown in FIG. Since there is no power in the sub-scanning direction except for the optical element (toroidal lens) provided with the scanning trajectory changing means, the optical axis direction does not change individually according to the environmental change, and relative registration deviation does not occur. Therefore, stable color image recording without color shift or color change can be performed until lapse of time.
[0136]
ExampleFor example, in the optical scanning device shown in FIGS. 1 and 6, an optical element (toroidal lens) is provided at a position closest to the photosensitive drum as the surface to be scanned, and the scanning trajectory is variable for each of these optical elements. Means are attached. Accordingly, there is no image forming means in the subsequent stage of the scanning trajectory changing means, and the scanning trajectory of the scanning line on the surface to be scanned can be reliably varied without being affected by the optical element in the subsequent stage, so that it can be accurately adjusted. This enables stable color image recording without color shift or color change over time.
[0137]

However, since it is possible to make a reliable adjustment with a simple operation, color shift and color change are prevented. High-quality color image recording is possible.
[0142]
FigureThe image forming apparatus described in FIG. 13 includes, as an example, the optical scanning device shown in FIG. 1, FIG. 6, or FIG. 2, and these optical scanning devices include scanning trajectory changing means shown in FIG. A plurality of light source means, a deflecting means for deflecting each light beam from the light source means to perform main scanning, and an image carrier (of the photosensitive drum) corresponding to each scanned light beam. A plurality of image forming means that forms an image on the surface to be scanned), a transfer body (transfer belt 605) that sequentially transfers an image formed on each image carrier, and each resist from the image recorded on the transfer body. This is an image forming apparatus having detection means (detector 629) for detecting a shift at a plurality of positions along the main scanning direction.
[0143]
In such an image forming apparatus, among the optical elements constituting each of the plurality of image forming means, the same optical element (toroidal lens) includes a scanning trajectory variable means, and based on a registration deviation detection result by the detection means, The trajectory of the scanning line on the surface to be scanned (the bending or inclination of the scanning line) can be corrected.
[0144]
In other words, it is possible to adjust the scan line tilt and bend with a single detection pattern recording, reducing toner consumption and eliminating the extra energization time required for adjustment. A color image forming apparatus can be provided.
