In order to eliminate the disturbance of the wavefront of the laser beam that has passed through the optical element, beam shaping using a pinhole is generally performed. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below.
[0024]
(Embodiment 1)
FIG. 1 shows an example of an optical disk master exposure recording apparatus according to the present invention. In the figure,
[0025]
The
[0026]
The laser light output from the
[0027]
Laser light that has passed through an optical element such as an AO modulator or an EO modulator is subjected to disturbance of the wavefront, and an ideal Gaussian beam profile is destroyed. In general, it is said that the aperture performance of a lens deteriorates when the aberration becomes 30 mλ or more. When the aberration received from the optical element at the wavelength of 351 nm was examined, the aberration component was about 10 mλ. This aberration component corresponds to about 8 nm with respect to the wavelength of 351 nm. The transition of the aberration component with respect to the wavelength was calculated on the assumption that the wavefront disturbance caused by passing through the optical element is substantially the same at each wavelength. FIG. 5 shows the transition of aberration with respect to wavelength. In the vicinity of the wavelength of 270 nm, the aberration component is 30 mλ, and when the wavelength is 270 nm or less, the aperture performance of the objective lens is greatly affected.
[0028]
Therefore, in this embodiment, beam shaping using a pinhole is performed in order to eliminate the disturbance of the wavefront of the laser light transmitted through the optical element. This is because the laser beam subjected to wavefront disturbance is narrowed down by a lens for narrowing the lens system, and a pinhole having the same diameter as the beam diameter (beam diameter) at that position is placed at the focal point of the narrowed laser beam. By removing the disturbance component distributed outside the laser beam diameter without being narrowed down by the wavefront disturbance before passing through the lens for obtaining a predetermined beam diameter, the central part with strong beam intensity is extracted clearly. This is a method for eliminating the disturbance of the wave front. At this time, it is desirable that the shape of the pinhole is a substantially perfect circle and the inner periphery thereof is smooth.
[0029]
In order to eliminate the disturbance of the wavefront as much as possible, it is effective to arrange the pinhole at the last stage before the head. However, in the case of an exposure recording apparatus using a deflection modulator as shown in the first embodiment, since the laser beam is deflected, a pinhole cannot be disposed after the

[0032]
Moreover, the following experiment was conducted about the aperture performance of the beam diameter by a pinhole.
[0033]
On the glass plate coated with resist, pits were recorded by exposure. The beam diameter of the laser beam narrowed down by the objective lens was calculated from the recorded pit shape. When the laser wavelength is 270 nm and the NA of the objective lens is 0.9, the beam diameter of the conventional example is 0.33 μm, whereas a pinhole is arranged in front of the deflection modulator as in the first embodiment. As a result of beam shaping, a value of about 0.3 μm was obtained. That is, it was confirmed that the aperture performance of about 10% beam diameter was improved as compared with the case where beam shaping was not performed.

In general, it is said that the aperture performance of a lens deteriorates when the aberration becomes 30 mλ or more. This has already been described with reference to FIG.
[0056]
Therefore, in this embodiment, beam shaping using a pinhole is performed in order to eliminate the disturbance of the wavefront of the laser light transmitted through the optical element. This is achieved by narrowing down the laser beam subjected to wavefront disturbance by the lens system, and placing a pinhole having the same diameter as the beam diameter (beam diameter) at the focal position of the narrowed laser beam. Remove the turbulence component distributed outside the laser beam diameter without being narrowed down by the disturbance of the laser beam, and before passing through the lens to obtain the predetermined beam diameter, cleanly extract the central part with strong beam intensity, and disturb the wave front It is a method to eliminate. At this time, as in the first embodiment, it is desirable that the shape of the pinhole is a substantially perfect circle and the inner periphery thereof is smooth.
[0057]
In order to eliminate the disturbance of the wavefront as much as possible, it is effective to arrange the pinhole at the last stage before the head. However, in the case of an exposure recording apparatus using a deflection modulator, since the laser beam is deflected, a pinhole cannot be arranged after the deflection modulator.

In contrast, in the present embodiment, a

In addition, an experiment was performed on the aperture performance of the beam diameter according to the present embodiment under the same conditions as in the first embodiment. On the glass plate coated with resist, pits were recorded by exposure. The beam diameter of the laser beam narrowed down by the objective lens was calculated from the recorded pit shape. As a result of arranging the pinhole and performing the beam shaping as in the fourth embodiment, it was confirmed that the aperture performance of about 10% beam diameter was improved as compared with the case where the beam shaping was not performed.
[0060]
In the fourth embodiment, the EO modulator and the AO modulator are used as the modulator. However, the combination of the modulators is not related, and the same effect can be obtained in the case of other combinations.
[0061]
In addition, although a piezoelectric element is used as a means for moving the pinhole, the driving means of the present invention is not limited to this as long as it is a means for moving the pinhole in synchronization with the deflection signal, such as a voice coil or a linear motor. Absent.

The beam diameter of the laser beam narrowed down by the objective lens was calculated from the recorded pit shape. As a result of beam shaping by adjusting the wavefront using a liquid crystal plate, it was confirmed that the aperture performance of about 10% beam diameter was improved as compared with the case where beam shaping was not performed.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, in an optical disk master exposure recording apparatus using a deflection modulator, a beam shaping pinhole is disposed before the deflection modulator, or a beam shaping slit is provided after the deflection modulator. By disposing, the disturbance of the wavefront of the accumulated laser light can be eliminated, and the aperture performance of the laser light after the objective lens can be improved.
