BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a laser drive circuit and an image forming apparatus, and in particular, guides light-modulated laser light from a laser light source onto an image bearing surface such as a photoreceptor or an electrostatic recording medium, and on the surface, for example, The present invention relates to a laser driving circuit and an image forming apparatus suitable for a copying machine, a laser beam printer, a facsimile machine, and the like that form an image composed of an electrostatic latent image.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In order to realize an image forming apparatus using a multi-laser composed of a plurality of lasers as described above, since one PD is used, each laser is made to emit laser light one by one and at the same time, the others are turned off and APC is performed. Therefore, the bias light emission amount of the other laser is superimposed on the PD sensor output in the APC of the desired laser, and accurate light amount control cannot be performed.
[0008]
As a countermeasure, ON / OFF switching of each bias current source can be considered. However, since this bias current source is a slow starter current source for laser protection, it is not suitable for high-speed control.

In this manner, the PD sensor output corresponding to the light emission amount of the bias light emission of the other laser is added to the laser light amount setting voltage Vref which is the target value of the laser, and the light emission amount of the laser emitting light and the other laser are emitted. So that the output of the PD sensor corresponding to the sum of the light emission amounts of the bias light emission matches the aforementioned added value (corresponding to the “reference value” in the claims). As a result, the light emission amount of the emitting laser is accurately controlled to the light emission amount set by the laser light amount setting voltage which is the target value without being influenced by the bias light emission amount of the other lasers. .
[0031]
Although a twin laser using two beams is used in this embodiment, the present invention can also be applied to a multilaser using three or more lasers. For example, in a four-beam laser using four beams L1, L2, L3, and L4, when the output value of the PD sensor by bias emission of each laser is held in advance and the light amount control of one laser L1 is performed. Controls the light amount by adding the output value of the PD sensor by the bias light emission of the other three lasers L2, L3, and L4 to the laser light amount setting voltage that is the target value of the laser L1, and controls the other three lasers L2, L3, and L3. Similarly, for L4, the output value of the PD sensor based on the bias emission of the other three lasers is added to the laser light amount setting voltage to control the light amount, so that the light emission amount of each laser is not affected by the bias light emission. It is possible to accurately control the light emission amount set by the laser light amount setting voltage that is the target value.
[0032]
As described above, according to this embodiment, it is possible to provide an image forming apparatus that enables accurate multi-laser light amount control.

FIG. 5 shows a configuration of a laser driving circuit used in the “image forming apparatus” according to the second embodiment. In addition, since the whole structure of a present Example and the structure of an exposure control part (except a laser drive circuit) are the same as that of Example 1, description of Example 1 is used. This laser drive circuit is provided in the exposure control unit 10, and the same reference numerals are used for the same parts as in the conventional example of FIG. [0040]
Although a twin laser using two beams is used in this embodiment, the present invention can also be applied to a multilaser using three or more lasers. For example, in a four-beam laser using four beams L1, L2, L3, and L4, the output value of the PD sensor corresponding to the bias emission amount of each laser is held in advance, and the light amount control of one laser L1 is performed. In this case, the light amount control is performed based on a value obtained by subtracting the output values of the PD sensors corresponding to the bias light emission amounts of the other three lasers L2, L3, and L4 from the output values of the PD sensor while the laser L1 is turned on. Similarly, for the other three lasers L2, L3, and L4, the output values of the PD sensors corresponding to the bias light emission amounts of the other three lasers from the output values of the PD sensors while any of the lasers L2 to L4 is turned on. The amount of light is controlled based on the value obtained by subtracting.
[0041]
As described above, according to the present embodiment, as in the first embodiment, it is possible to provide an image forming apparatus that enables accurate light control of a multi-laser.
[0042]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, when performing feedback control of each laser emission amount in a laser driving circuit and an image forming apparatus using a multi-laser composed of a plurality of lasers, the bias of other lasers is controlled. Regardless of the amount of emitted light, accurate light amount control is possible, and accurate laser light amount control can be realized.
