BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine that pressurizes fuel by a pressurizing operation of a high pressure fuel pump, discharges the fuel into a high pressure fuel pipe, and supplies the high pressure fuel in the high pressure fuel pipe to the internal combustion engine through an injector. is there.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In general, in an internal combustion engine such as a direct injection internal combustion engine in which fuel is directly injected into a combustion chamber, fuel injection is performed by an injector against the pressure in the combustion chamber that becomes high pressure. Therefore, when fuel is injected into such a direct injection internal combustion engine, a high pressure fuel supply device that pressurizes the fuel to a high pressure and supplies it to the injector is indispensable. In such a high-pressure fuel supply device, the fuel supplied from the fuel tank by the feed pump passes through the inside of the high-pressure fuel pump, is pressurized by the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump, and is discharged into the high-pressure fuel pipe (delivery pipe). The high pressure fuel is supplied to the internal combustion engine via the injector.
[0003]
However, when the engine is started, the required injection amount is large. When the high pressure fuel pump is pressurized, the amount of fuel discharged into the high pressure fuel pipe depends on the discharge amount of the high pressure fuel pump. Can not be supplied stably.
[0004]
In order to solve such a problem, a fuel supply device disclosed in Patent Document 1 has been proposed. This fuel supply device stops the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump when the engine is started, and allows the fuel supplied from the feed pump to pass through the inside of the high-pressure fuel pump. Since the amount of fuel supplied from the feed pump is large, it is possible to take measures so that the injection amount does not become insufficient even at the time of engine start when the required injection amount increases.

[Patent Document 1]
Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 11-125161
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Incidentally, in the fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine disclosed in Patent Document 1, when the internal combustion engine is determined to start, the pressurization operation of the high-pressure fuel pump is performed. However, there are still the following problems.
[0007]
That is, in order to suppress an increase in size and cost of the high-pressure fuel pump, it is desirable to suppress the rated discharge amount of the high-pressure fuel pump as much as possible. The rated discharge amount is, for example, an amount determined by the product of the pump chamber cross-sectional area and the stroke. However, if the rated discharge amount of the high-pressure fuel pump is suppressed, even when the engine is determined to start, the injection amount is insufficient particularly when the required injection amount is cold. In addition, since the maximum discharge amount of the high-pressure fuel pump varies depending on the pump efficiency at that time, the maximum discharge amount of the high-pressure fuel pump decreases due to such a decrease in pump efficiency, and the fuel is stably supplied to the internal combustion engine. There was also a problem that it could not be supplied.
[0008]
The present invention has been made in view of such a situation, and an object of the present invention is to prevent shortage of the fuel injection amount even when the pump efficiency of the high-pressure fuel pump changes and the maximum discharge amount changes, thereby preventing internal combustion. An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine that can stably supply fuel to the engine.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the following, means for achieving the above object and its effects are described.
(1)According to the first aspect of the present invention, the fuel supplied from the feed pump passes through the inside of the high-pressure fuel pump, is pressurized by the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump, and is discharged into the high-pressure fuel pipe. In a fuel supply apparatus for an internal combustion engine that supplies high-pressure fuel to an internal combustion engine via an injector, a determination unit that determines whether a required injection amount based on an engine operating state is less than a predetermined value, and the request by the determination unit Until it is determined that the injection amount is less than the predetermined value, the pressurization operation of the high-pressure fuel pump is stopped to allow the fuel supplied from the feed pump to pass through the high-pressure fuel pump, and the determination A control means for performing a pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump when the means determines that the required injection amount is less than the predetermined value; Setting means for variably setting the predetermined value based on conditions affecting the amount of the pump efficiency of the flop, the gist in that it comprisesis doing.
(2) According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine according to the first aspect, the setting means variably sets the predetermined value based on a fuel pressure in the high-pressure fuel pipe. It is a summary.
(3) The invention according to claim 3 supplies the fuel discharged by the feed pump to the high-pressure fuel pump, pressurizes the fuel by this pump and discharges it into the high-pressure fuel pipe, and the high-pressure fuel in the pipe is discharged. In a fuel supply apparatus for an internal combustion engine that supplies an internal combustion engine via an injector, a determination unit that determines whether or not a required injection amount based on an engine operating state is less than a predetermined value, and the determination unit determines whether the required injection amount is Until it is determined that the pressure is less than a predetermined value, the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump is prohibited, the fuel supplied from the feed pump is allowed to pass through the high-pressure fuel pump, and the required injection amount is determined by the determining means. And a control means for permitting the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump when it is determined that is less than the predetermined value.
[0010]
the above(1)-(3)With this configuration, when the required injection amount is equal to or greater than the predetermined value after the start of the internal combustion engine, the fuel supplied from the feed pump passes through the inside of the high pressure fuel pump and is sent to the high pressure fuel pipe. Therefore, sufficient fuel can be supplied to the internal combustion engine from the high-pressure fuel pipe.
Further, according to the configuration of (1) or (2) above,The predetermined value is variably set according to the pump efficiency of the high-pressure fuel pump. Therefore, even if the maximum discharge amount of the high-pressure fuel pump changes in accordance with the change in pump efficiency, the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump is controlled based on the magnitude relationship between the predetermined value and the required injection amount considering the pump efficiency. Therefore, the fuel can be stably supplied to the internal combustion engine.
According to the configuration (2), when the fuel pressure in the high-pressure fuel pipe is high, a large amount of fuel is stored in the high-pressure fuel pipe, and the injection amount can be ensured accordingly. Therefore, by making the predetermined value variable based on the fuel pressure in the high-pressure fuel pipe, the pressurization operation of the high-pressure fuel pump can be controlled more appropriately.
[0011]
(4) The invention according to claim 4 is the fuel supply apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the determination means determines that the start of the internal combustion engine is completed. The control means determines whether or not the required injection amount is smaller than the predetermined value, and the control means performs the determination until the start is completed after the start of the internal combustion engine is started. The gist is that the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump is prohibited without depending on the determination result of the means.
[0012]
(5) The invention according to claim 5 is the fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the control means completes the start after the start of the internal combustion engine is started. The gist is that the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump is prohibited until it is determined that the required injection amount is smaller than the predetermined value.
[0013]
(6) In the fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine according to any one of claims 1 to 5, the predetermined value is set based on a maximum discharge amount of the high-pressure fuel pump. This is the gist.
[0014]
(7) The invention according to claim 7 is the fuel supply apparatus for an internal combustion engine according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the predetermined value corresponds to half of a maximum discharge amount of the high-pressure fuel pump. The gist is that the value to be set is set.
[0015]
(8) According to an eighth aspect of the present invention, in the fuel supply device for an internal combustion engine according to any one of the first to seventh aspects, the fuel is pressurized by being driven by the internal combustion engine as the high-pressure fuel pump. The gist is that at least one of the engine rotational speed and the fuel temperature is used as the state quantity.
The maximum discharge amount of the high-pressure fuel pump is determined based on the product of the rated discharge amount and the pump efficiency at that time. Here, the rated discharge amount is, for example, an amount determined by the product of the pump chamber cross-sectional area and the stroke. The pump efficiency of the high-pressure fuel pump changes depending on the speed of the pressurizing operation, and the pump efficiency decreases as the pressurizing operation speed decreases. The speed of the pressurizing operation of the high-pressure fuel pump depends on the engine speed, and the pump efficiency of the high-pressure fuel pump changes according to the change in the engine speed. Further, the pump efficiency of the high-pressure fuel pump varies depending on the viscosity of the fuel, and the pump efficiency decreases as the viscosity decreases. The viscosity of the fuel depends on the fuel temperature. If the fuel temperature increases, the viscosity decreases. If the fuel temperature decreases, the viscosity increases. Therefore, the pump efficiency of the high-pressure fuel pump decreases as the fuel temperature increases. It will be.
Therefore, according to the above configuration, since the predetermined value is variably set based on at least one of the engine speed and the fuel temperature that change the pump efficiency, the predetermined value can be set appropriately.
