β=(|A1|−|A2|)/(|A1|+|A2|)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical disk apparatus and a recording condition setting method, and more particularly to a technique for obtaining an appropriate writing condition for a disk for which a default strategy is not registered, and is suitable for application to a CD-R / RW disk. It is.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Various apparatuses for recording data by irradiating a medium such as an optical disk with laser light have been realized. For example, there is an apparatus for recording data by irradiating a compact disc (CD) type disc or a disc called Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) with a laser beam modulated by data to be recorded.
When data recording is performed using laser light, the power of the laser light, specifically, the recording power and the erasing power are set to appropriate values as described in, for example, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2000-251254. (For example, refer to Patent Document 1). For this reason, in an ordinary recording apparatus, an optimum laser power discrimination operation called OPC (Optimum Power Control) is performed (for example,
[0003]
However, the trial writing area is limited, and for example, in a CD-R, there is an area for performing OPC 100 times. CD-R is a write-once recording medium and is composed of 99 tracks. An OPC area for one track is secured, but in so-called packet recording in which additional recording is performed by dividing a track, a recording operation is performed 100 times or more, and therefore OPC needs to be performed 100 times or more. In the additional recording operation of 100 times or more, since the OPC area is insufficient, recording is performed without performing the OPC operation. In this case, the quality is lower than that of data recorded by performing the OPC operation due to a difference in environmental conditions such as temperature and recording characteristics of the device to be additionally recorded. Even in a recording medium that can be overwritten, if the OPC area is rewritten repeatedly, the recording characteristics change, and the recording characteristics of the data recording area differ from each other, and the role as OPC may be lost.
[0004]
When writing to an optical disc on which no strategy data is registered, writing is performed with a fixed condition prepared in advance, that is, strategy data for a disc with an unregistered disc ID (hereinafter referred to as default strategy data or default data). There is a way to do it. However, this is not always a suitable condition for an optical disc in which the strategy data to which default data is to be written is not registered. In the worst case, even the written data cannot be read.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the jitter and error rate are not always less than or equal to a predetermined threshold value only by obtaining the optimum recording laser power by performing OPC with the prepared fixed default data.
[0007]
The object of the present invention is to solve these disadvantages and to provide more appropriate writing conditions for the recording laser power obtained by OPC. When It is to provide a recording condition setting technique that can be used.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an optical disc recording technique that can reflect the obtained recording conditions even after the optical disc apparatus is turned on from off. .
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the object of the present invention, in the first invention, the optical disc apparatus performs OPC for each of the means for obtaining the disc ID and the default data, and obtains the optimum laser power and jitter information or error rate information. Means, means for selecting one default data from the plurality of default data based on the obtained jitter information or error rate information, a disk ID, the selected default strategy data, and a double speed at the time of writing are recorded. Means.
According to a second aspect, in the first aspect, the timing at which the pulse of the optimum power rises or falls is changed to obtain a timing at which the error rate or error rate information is minimized, and is recorded in the memory.
In a third invention, the selection means in the first invention is configured to use the default strategy data as follows: (1) The average error rate or error rate information is within a power range where pits are appropriately formed. Strategy data that falls below a predetermined threshold value, and (2) Strategy data that has a minimum error rate or error rate information and falls below a predetermined threshold value within a power range where pits are appropriately formed. (3) Selection is made in the order of strategy data in which the error rate or the error rate information is minimized within the power range in which pits are appropriately formed.
[0009]
In the fourth invention, the recording condition setting method includes a step of acquiring a disc ID from lead-in or lead-out information, and a plurality of defaults registered when there is no write strategy data in which the disc ID is registered. Performing OPC on each of the data and using jitter information or error rate information to select the best strategy data from the plurality of default data, the disk ID, and the selected strategy for the unregistered disk Storing the data in a memory.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings using examples.

The error pulse detection circuit 21 compares the clock obtained by the PLL circuit obtained from the reproduction signal demodulation circuit 11 with the binarized signal, thereby detecting the number of jitter error pits detected by detecting variations in the recording pit length ( (Hereinafter referred to as error pulse number). This error pulse is input to the

The result of performing the OPC with n default data is evaluated based on the result of counting the number of error pulses, and the most appropriate default data is selected and recorded by the
[0014]
In order to select appropriate default data from the number of error pulses, selection is made in the following order (1) to (3) (hereinafter referred to as default data selection order). The error pulse will be described separately.
(1) Obtained by counting the power range in which the pits obtained by the OPC
(2) If there is no default data corresponding to (1) above, the default data is selected so that the number of error pulses is the smallest and falls below a predetermined threshold within the power range where pits are appropriately formed. .
(3) If there is no default data corresponding to the above (1) and (2), the default data that minimizes the number of error pulses is selected within the power range in which pits are appropriately formed.
[0015]
In the above selection means, (1 ) No corresponding default data Next, there is no default data corresponding to (2). In this case, the rising timing and falling timing of the laser power pulse are made variable for the recording laser power obtained by OPC based on the default data (3) having the smallest number of error pulses among the default data. For example, each timing of rise between 3T to xT pits (PIT) and 3T to xT lands (LAND) and each timing of fall between 3T to xT lands and 3T to xT pits are based on the above strategy pattern. To several steps within a range of ± yT. The amount of change in the rise and fall timings of the laser power is recorded in a table, recording is performed with the laser power using these timings, and a strategy pattern that minimizes the number of error pulses is obtained. Data whose rise timing or fall timing is made variable is recorded in any of the PCA area, PMA area, and outermost lead-out area on the CD-R, for example, other than the data area. Find the minimum pattern. Further, the disk ID, default data, and double speed at the time of recording are also recorded in the
[0016]
FIG. 2 is a characteristic curve with respect to a power range in which pits such as β values are appropriately formed and a jitter or error rate for a plurality of strategy patterns. In the figure, the result of setting three strategy patterns and performing OPC for each pattern is shown. The power range in which pits are appropriately formed on the horizontal axis, for example, a predetermined β value in CD-R The jitter or error rate is shown on the vertical axis. Hereinafter, the error rate or jitter will be described in terms of the number of error pulses. When the optical disc is a CD-R disc, it is desirable that the number of error pulses does not exceed the threshold value when the power range in which pits are appropriately formed is between 0 and 8%. 101 is a characteristic curve of the power range (for example, a predetermined β value range) in which pits are appropriately formed by the first strategy pattern and the number of error pulses, and 102 is a pit formed by the second strategy pattern. Is a characteristic curve of the power range (for example, a predetermined β value range) and the number of error pulses, and 103 is a power range (for example, a predetermined β value) in which pits are appropriately formed by the third strategy pattern. And a characteristic curve of the number of error pulses. In the

In FIG. 2, the power range in which pits are appropriately formed is shown as, for example, β, but generally, the R system uses beta and the RW system uses γ. However, the horizontal axis shows if the pits are written properly (reflectance is appropriate) Na It may be a parameter.
[0018]
Next, an error pulse generation method will be described with reference to FIG.
FIG. 3 is a signal waveform diagram for explaining the error pulse generation method. FIG. 3A is a binary signal generated by the binary signal generation circuit included in the reproduction signal demodulation circuit of FIG. 3 (b) is a clock generated by the reproduction signal demodulating circuit, FIG. 3 (c) is a phase difference signal of the binarized signal and the wobble clock, FIG. 3 (d) is a signal obtained by integrating the phase difference signal, and FIG. e) shows an error pulse. [0019]
Next, for one default strategy data selected from a plurality of default strategy data, the timing for turning on and off the laser light source included in the optical pickup is further controlled to obtain more appropriate strategy data. The method will be described.
FIG. 4 is a waveform diagram of timing pulses showing on / off timings of the laser light source. In this embodiment, an example in which the falling timing is changed when the 3T pit changes to the 3T land is shown. In the figure, C is a standard position with 3T pits, and recording or reproduction is performed by shifting the falling timing as A, B, D, E. The amount to be shifted may be, for example, 0.25T. Furthermore, the rise timing may be similarly shifted from the 3T land to the 3T pit. Also, the combinations of the falling timing and rising timing between pits and lands and between lands and pits for various combinations such as 3T and 3T, 3T and 4T, 3T and 5T, 4T and 3T, 4T and 4T, etc. Set the amount to shift. These data may be set as a table.
[0020]
FIG. 5 is a table showing the timing variable position setting of the timing pulse. FIG. 5A shows a timing pulse table where the land comes after the pit, and FIG. 5B shows the pit comes after the land. A table of timing pulses is shown. In this table, the timing amount of the combination to be changed is set, and the optimum timing is determined by performing recording or reproduction OPC for each timing.
