Description
【0001】
Y=0.299R+0.587G+0.144B
Y=R+2G+B

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an imaging element driving method and an imaging apparatus, and more particularly, to an imaging element driving method capable of efficiently obtaining a color image and a monotone image and an imaging apparatus using the method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, there has been known an image pickup element that can pick up an image through a primary color filter having color components of green (G), red (R), and blue (B) to obtain a color image. In order to obtain a high-resolution monotone image using such an image sensor, a monotone image output is obtained by performing various interpolation processes on the pixel signals of each color component obtained once.
[0003]
For example, an interpolation process that averages the red (R) pixel signal and the blue (B) pixel signal after white balance processing, or adds and averages the upper, lower, left, and right adjacent pixels only with the green (G) pixel signal. To obtain high resolution monotone image output.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the high-resolution monotone image output obtained by performing the above-described interpolation processing, so-called jaggies, in which fine line portions and color boundary portions on the image become jagged due to the characteristics of the interpolation processing, occur significantly. was there. In addition, jaggy may occur due to a deviation in white balance, and in any case, there is a problem in that it is difficult to see a monotone image having jaggy.
[0005]
Further, in order to obtain a high resolution monotone image by performing the above-described interpolation processing, it is necessary to provide a dedicated signal processing circuit for this interpolation processing or to install dedicated software. For this reason, in any case, there has been a problem that the circuit scale and software are increased, which requires labor and time, and obstructs the reduction in size and weight of the imaging apparatus.
[0006]
Therefore, the present invention solves such problems and can obtain a color image output and a monotone image output by using the same imaging device, and can efficiently and easily produce a high-resolution and high-quality monotone image. An object of the present invention is to provide an imaging element driving method and an imaging apparatus that can be obtained with the configuration.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the first invention, when a, b, m, and n are natural numbers, photoelectric conversion elements are provided and arranged in a matrix, each having 2 horizontal pixels and 2 vertical pixels, and adjacent horizontal 2a pixels and vertical pixels. An image sensor having a color filter array in which color filters of the same color are mounted for every 2b pixel groups, and the color arrangement of the color filters for each pixel group is a green checkered pattern, and red and blue are line-sequentially arranged In the driving method, when the color image mode or the monotone image mode is selected and the color image mode is selected, each pixel of the pixel group is added and sequentially read, and when the monotone image mode is selected, The pixel group is shifted and added sequentially for each pixel group shifted a pixel and b pixel vertically with respect to the arrangement position of the pixel group.
In the first invention, using the characteristics of the color arrangement of the color filter, an image signal corresponding to a color image can be added and output from the same image sensor to output a color image, and an image corresponding to a monotone image can be output. It is possible to output a monotone image by adding and outputting signals directly from the image sensor.
[0008]
In the second aspect of the present invention, each pixel has a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix with photoelectric conversion elements, the same color filter is mounted on four pixels adjacent in the vertical and horizontal directions, and the color filter for each of the four pixels is provided. When the color image mode or monotone image mode is selected and the color image mode is selected in the driving method of an image sensor having a color filter array in which the color arrangement is green in a checkered pattern and red and blue are arranged in a line sequence When the monotone image mode is selected, the four pixels are added and sequentially read out, and the four pixels shifted one pixel horizontally and vertically with respect to the arrangement position of the four pixels are sequentially read out. It is characterized by performing.
In the second invention, the operational effects of the first invention can be realized with the minimum pixel group arrangement, and in particular, a high-resolution monotone image can be obtained.
