Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an imaging apparatus such as an electronic still camera.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, as an autofocus method used for an electronic still camera or the like, the following has been proposed or commercialized.
(1) A method of dividing a part of a photographing light beam from the optical path and correlating images at different positions of the pupil (US Pat. No. 4,185,191, etc.)
(2) Contrast detection method for detecting the peak of the high-frequency component of the image sensor signal.
(3) An external measurement method in which an element for distance measurement is provided separately from the photographing lens system.
(4) A method of switching the pupils in time series and correlating corresponding time-series images of the image sensor (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 9-42507)
(5) A method for obtaining the distance and shape of a subject using a matrix lenslet (US Pat. No. 4,410,804)
Among the above methods, the methods (1) and (3) are provided with an autofocus sensor in addition to the image pickup device for image pickup, and the methods (2), (4), and (5) are shared.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the above conventional example has not been devised in consideration of system consistency as an electronic still camera, and has the following drawbacks.
In the conventional example shown in (1), a space for dividing the optical path is required in the optical path, and there is a drawback that it is difficult to achieve both compactness of the apparatus and lens performance.
In the conventional example shown in (2), since the in-focus point is detected by the search operation of the maximum contrast point, the final in-focus position is not known before the search, and it takes a long time to determine the in-focus point. is there.
[0005]
In the conventional example shown in (3), it is difficult to obtain the required accuracy with a telephoto lens or a bright Fno lens, and there is a drawback that parallax between the distance measuring system and the imaging system becomes a problem in macro photography.
The conventional example shown in (4) has a drawback that it is easily affected by camera shake and subject blur because the time series data is correlated.
The conventional example shown in (5) has a drawback that a sufficient spatial resolution of the obtained image signal cannot be obtained.
[0006]
Accordingly, the present invention uses a single image sensor, and can switch between the imaging function and the function of detecting the amount of deviation from the in-focus point and the direction at the same time, thereby enabling each of the above drawbacks. It is intended to be removed.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An imaging apparatus according to the present invention includes an exit pupil having a first region and a second region, a plurality of microlenses that collect light that has passed through the exit pupil, and light that has passed through the plurality of microlenses. By changing the refractive index of the liquid crystal, the liquid crystal disposed between the plurality of microlenses and the exit pupil. Switching means for switching the imaging state of the passed light between the first state and the second state, and the first state is that light from the first region is applied to the first light receiving unit. An image is formed and light from the second region is imaged on the second light receiving portion, and the second state is a state in which light from the first and second regions is lighted. Both are in a state where an image is formed on each of the first and second light receiving portions.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a configuration diagram of an imaging system of an electronic still camera to which the present invention is applied.
In FIG. 1, 10 is an image sensor, and 1 is a liquid crystal in which the orientation direction is changed by an applied electric field, and the effective refractive index is changed by the orientation direction.

With the above configuration, signals obtained from the a series and b series are obtained as two series of signals having a deviation Δ corresponding to the defocus amount, as shown in FIG. The defocus amount and direction of the imaging lens system are obtained by correlating the two series of signals shown in FIG. A focusing operation is performed by moving a part of the imaging lens system in accordance with the defocus amount and direction.

Here, correction of the focus position at the time of focus detection and imaging will be described.
The lens position at which the two series of signals indicating defocus shown in FIG. 3 match is the focus position as the detection system. This position is the position of Δd shown in FIG. It is different from the focused position. Since the difference Δd corresponds to the shift Δ of the two series signals in FIG. 3, the position of the shift Δ that is determined to be in focus during the detection / focusing operation is corrected. Correction data for this purpose can be obtained by referring to the ROM information table, calculation using a correction coefficient, or the like.

Next, the operation of the imaging apparatus of FIG. 7 will be described using the flowchart of FIG.
FIG. 8 is a flowchart showing an operation sequence when the AF system according to the present invention is actually mounted on an electronic camera.
In the figure, when the flow is started, in step S1, it is checked whether or not the power switch of the camera body is turned on. If not, the process proceeds to step S3 and the power of each circuit unit is turned off. Return to step S1.
[0025]
If the power switch is turned on in step S1, the process proceeds to step S2, and the imaging system, signal processing system, recording unit, and other various display units of the camera are energized to enable camera operation.
Step S2 When the camera stands up, it is checked in step S4 whether or not a release switch (not shown) is pressed. Here, the release switch is pressed in two steps, and a shallow press up to the first step is called a first release, and a deeper press up to the second step is called a second release.
[0026]
If the first release is OFF in step S4, the process returns to step S1 and the above process is repeated. If the first release is ON, the process proceeds to step S5, the liquid crystal on the front surface of the image sensor is driven and controlled, the refractive index is changed, and the imaging state of the incident light becomes the state shown in FIG. Control.
[0027]
As described above, in this state, incident light incident on different positions of the photographic lens forms images at different positions on the image sensor, so that so-called phase difference AF is possible, and the process proceeds to step S6. The focus amount, that is, the amount of movement of the focus lens to the in-focus point is calculated. When the calculation is completed in step S7, the focus lens in the imaging lens unit is driven to the in-focus position in step S8, and the applied voltage of the liquid crystal is set. It is turned OFF to return the refractive index to the original state, and the imaging state of the incident light is returned to the state shown in FIG.
[0028]
When it is detected in step S9 that the focusing lens has been driven to the in-focus position, it is confirmed again in step S10 whether or not the first release is pressed, and if the first release is released. Returning to step S1, the above-described processing is performed again. If the first release remains ON, it is checked in step S11 whether the second release is ON, and the second release is ON. If YES, the process proceeds to step S12, and an actual photographing operation is performed.
[0029]
Although the figure mainly shows the relationship between the AF operation and the photographing operation, actually, for example, exposure control (AE), white balance control, and the like are performed in parallel with the processing of step S6.
[0030]
The system shown in FIG. 1 may be configured in hardware, or may be configured as a microcomputer system including a CPU and a memory. When configured in a microcomputer system, the memory constitutes a recording medium according to the present invention. A program for executing the above-described processing is recorded on this recording medium. As the recording medium, a semiconductor memory such as a ROM or a RAM, an optical disk, a magneto-optical disk, a magnetic medium, or the like may be used. These may be a CD-ROM, a floppy (registered trademark) disk, a magnetic tape, or a nonvolatile memory. It may be used as a card or the like.
[0031]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, in the present invention, the light guided from the exit pupil to the first and second detection units is divided into the first region and the second region of the exit pupil, the first detection unit, The first state guided to the second detection unit and the second state where both the first and second regions of the exit pupil are guided to the first and second detection units are configured to be switchable. ing. For this reason, the shift amount and direction from the in-focus point can be calculated by using a plurality of signals obtained from the imaging means in the first state. Therefore, it is possible to switch between the imaging function and the function of detecting the amount of deviation from the in-focus point and the direction at the same time by using a single imaging unit including the first and second detection units. An effect is obtained.
[0032]
Further, autofocus control is performed based on the calculated shift amount and direction, and when the in-focus point is obtained, it is possible to perform imaging by switching to the second state.
