本発明は、クラッチ装置内の冷却及び潤滑をクラッチオイルにより円滑に行える特に発進クラッチに好適なクラッチ装置に関する。

従来、エンジンの回転動力を駆動輪に伝達する発進用クラッチ装置としては、ケース内にクラッチオイルを貯留するオイル室が形成され、該オイル室内に回転可能に支承されたハウジングにメインクラッチ、電磁式パイロットクラッチ及びカム機構が収納されるクラッチ収納室が形成され、該ハウジングの周壁にハウジング外側のオイル室とハウジング内側のクラッチ収納室を連結する連結穴が設けられている開放式のものがある。該連結穴を介してクラッチオイルがオイル室とクラッチ収納室を循環して、クラッチ装置内を冷却及び潤滑していた。従来装置の連結穴46,47は、図1に示すように、ハウジングの回転軸線に対して直角に穿設されていた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
上記従来のハウジング13周壁に設けられた複数の連結穴46,47は、所望量のクラッチオイル19が流出入できる断面積を有し、回転軸線に向かって垂直に開口されていたため、停車中等エンジンの回転数が低い場合、ハウジング13の回転による遠心力により、クラッチオイル19を連結穴46,47を通過させてクラッチ収納室から円滑に流出させることができないことがあった。このためクラッチ収納室内に残留するクラッチオイル19の量が過多になってクラッチオイル19によるトルク伝達が行われ、特に気温の低い冬季などは、クラッチオイル19の粘性抵抗が大きくなり、収納されているメインクラッチ、電磁式パイロットクラッチの引き摺りトルクが大きくなり、燃費効率を低下させるとともに、引き摺りトルクによる発熱でクラッチの寿命が短くなる不具合があった。
