BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an X-ray tube, and more particularly, to a microfocus X-ray tube that can set an X-ray focal point very finely.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, an X-ray inspection apparatus including an X-ray tube as an X-ray generation source has been widely applied to non-destructive inspection, non-contact inspection, and the like. For this type of X-ray inspection apparatus, it is required to further improve the enlargement ratio together with the clarity of the fluoroscopic image to be captured. In this case, if the distance between the X-ray focal point (X-ray generation point) in the X-ray tube and the sample to be inspected can be shortened, the enlargement ratio of the X-ray inspection apparatus can be easily improved. For this reason, conventionally, various techniques have been proposed in order to shorten the distance between the X-ray focal position and the inspection object.
[0003]
As such a technique, for example, those disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 2713860 and Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 11-224625 are known. In the X-ray tube described in Japanese Patent No. 2713860, a hood electrode having an electron passage opening is mounted around the target. A protrusion is formed at the end of the hood electrode on the X-ray output window side. When such a hood electrode is used, the equipotential surface between the hood electrode and the focus grid electrode approaches the focus grid electrode side. For this reason, the electron beam accelerated between both electrodes is bent toward the X-ray output window. As a result, the distance (FOD: Focus Object Distance) between the X-ray focal position and the X-ray output window is shortened. Further, in the X-ray tube described in JP-A-11-224625, the electron passage port of the hood electrode is enlarged on the side opposite to the X-ray traveling direction. As a result, the electron beam accelerated between the focus grid electrode and the hood electrode is further bent toward the X-ray output window.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, even if the conventional X-ray tube configured as described above is used, the FOD may not be sufficiently shortened. That is, there is a limit to the size of the protrusion provided at the end of the hood electrode on the X-ray output window side. Therefore, it is difficult to further shorten the FOD by such a method. In addition, if the electron passage opening of the hood electrode is enlarged to the opposite side of the X-ray traveling direction, the focusing property of the electrons on the target is deteriorated, the spread of the electron beam is increased, and the focal shape is not circular. There were times when I was lost.
[0005]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide an X-ray tube capable of easily and reliably shortening the distance between the X-ray focal point position and the X-ray output window while ensuring a sufficient capacity of the accommodating portion. .
[0006]
The X-ray tube according to the present invention as set forth in
[0007]
This X-ray tube is suitable for use as an X-ray generation source such as an X-ray inspection apparatus, for example, and includes an electron generation unit including a cathode for generating electrons, a target serving as an anode, and a vacuum for accommodating these. Provide an envelope. This vacuum envelope has an accommodating part for accommodating an electron generating unit. The vacuum envelope is provided with an output window so as to be parallel to the traveling direction of electrons emitted from the electron generating unit. The cathode that receives electrons from the electron generating unit is disposed in the vacuum envelope so as to be inclined with respect to the traveling direction of the electrons and the output window. As a result, in this X-ray tube, when electrons emitted from the electron generation unit in the vacuum envelope collide with the target, the X-rays are emitted from the output window of the vacuum envelope in a direction substantially perpendicular to the traveling direction of the electrons. Is output.
[0008]
Now, in an X-ray inspection apparatus or the like provided with this type of X-ray tube, it has been conventionally required to further improve the enlargement ratio. In order to realize this, on the X-ray tube side, it is necessary to further shorten the distance (FOD) between the X-ray focal position and the X-ray output window. For this reason, the present inventors made extensive studies to further shorten the FOD. In consideration of various research studies, in this X-ray tube, the length in the X-ray output direction of the accommodating portion that accommodates the electron generating unit is A, and the X-ray output direction and the electron traveling direction are When the length in a direction orthogonal to both of the two is B, the housing portion is formed so as to satisfy B> A.
[0009]
In this way, in the X-ray tube in which the traveling direction of electrons and the output direction of X-rays are orthogonal to each other, the formation of the accommodating portion so as to satisfy B> A means that the accommodating portion when the output window is on the lower side. That is, the height of the cross section is made smaller than the width. Thereby, the generation | occurrence | production point of the electron in an electron generation unit can be brought close to the output window side, ensuring the capacity | capacitance of an accommodating part sufficiently and sufficiently. When the electron generation point in the electron generation unit approaches the output window side, the X-ray focal point position on the target inevitably approaches the X-ray output window. As a result, according to this X-ray tube, the distance (FOD) between the X-ray focal position and the X-ray output window can be easily and reliably shortened.
[0011]
Moreover, the approach of accommodating unit, configured so that its bottom side is the output window flush, because it does not protrude in the output direction of the X-ray than the output window, the entire X-ray tube relative to the examination subject, etc. It is possible to prevent the housing portion from becoming a hindrance when performing the operation. Thereby, in the X-ray inspection apparatus etc. which employ | adopted this X-ray tube, it becomes possible to improve an enlargement rate easily.
[0012]
Moreover, various shapes can be employ | adopted for the cross-sectional shape of the accommodating part which accommodates an electron generating unit in the range with which B> A is satisfy | filled. That is, the cross section perpendicular to the axis of the housing portion is preferably a polygonal shape such as a rectangle or a pentagon, and may be an elliptical shape. Furthermore, a shape in which a part of an ellipse is cut with a straight line or a loose curve (including a shape in which a part of a perfect circle is cut with a straight line or the like) may be employed as a cross section of the housing portion.
[0013]

【The invention's effect】
As described above, the X-ray tube according to the present invention causes electrons emitted from the electron generating unit to collide with the target in the vacuum envelope, and passes through the output window provided in the vacuum envelope. X-rays are output in a direction substantially orthogonal to the traveling direction, and the electron generating unit housing portion has a length in the X-ray output direction of A, and the X-ray output direction and the electron traveling direction are When the length in the direction perpendicular to both is B, the length is formed so as to satisfy B> A. Therefore, in this X-ray tube, the distance between the X-ray focal point position and the X-ray output window can be easily and reliably shortened while ensuring the capacity of the accommodating portion .
