本発明は、半溶融金属の射出装置及び方法、特に、射出装置本体が加熱装置を備えることによって金属素材の加熱・射出工程を一貫して行うことを特徴とする半溶融金属の射出装置及び方法に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
半溶融状態に加熱された金属素材を射出装置から鋳型内に形成されたキャビティに充填させ、その半溶融金属素材を固化させて所望の製品を得る鋳造方法が従来から知られている。半溶融金属の射出成形技術として、半溶融成形法やチクソキャスト法と呼ばれるものがその代表例であり、その他の鋳造法と比べて鋳造欠陥や偏析が少なく、金属組織が均一で鋳型寿命が長いことや成形サイクルが短いという利点を有している。

この半溶融金属の射出技術として、例えば、下記特許文献1には、半溶融状態に加熱された金属素材をキャビティ内に充填させ、所望の製品に成形する半溶融金属素材の加熱方法が開示されている。この半溶融金属素材の加熱方法は、金属素材を容器に収容して加熱することにより、素材表面に発生する酸化物の飛散防止を図ったものである(特許文献1参照)。また、下記特許文献2には、金属素材を半溶融状態に加熱した後、ダイキャストスリーブなどの後工程に半溶融金属を供給するための加熱・搬送方法に関する技術が開示されている。この半溶融金属の加熱・搬送方法は、進退動自在で、かつ、昇降自在な架台の上に着脱自在に設置されたセラミックス製の容器の中に固相状態の金属素材を収納し、この容器を誘導加熱コイルの軸芯中央部に位置させるとともに、所要時間誘導加熱コイルに通電して容器中の金属素材を半溶融状態とし、その後、この半溶融金属をダイキャストスリーブ内へ注湯するものである(特許文献2参照)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、従来の技術において例示した各特許文献に代表されるこれまでの半溶融金属の射出技術には、以下の問題がある。

すなわち、従来の技術に係る半溶融金属の射出技術では、金属素材を加熱する加熱装置と半溶融状態となった金属素材を鋳型内に射出する射出装置がそれぞれ別に設けられているため、半溶融状態となった金属素材を搬送するための搬送装置が必要となる。半溶融金属を射出成形する際には、製品の品質や成形性を維持するために非常に狭い幅での温度管理が必要であるため、搬送設備には、温度管理を実施するための細かい配慮が要求される。そのため、設備投資額が大きくなるばかりでなく、一定の製品品質を維持するための製造コストが多大となる。

また、従来の技術に係る半溶融金属の射出装置では、加熱装置内、加熱装置から射出装置への搬送時あるいは射出装置内に大気が存在するため、金属素材を半溶融状態に加熱する際、金属素材の表面が酸化してスケールが発生してしまう。このスケールは、鋳型内のキャビティに金属素材を射出する際に、金属素材とともに射出され、金属素材に巻き込まれてしまうため、スケール押し込みきず等の表面きずや介在物等の内部欠陥となって不良品発生の原因となるものである。なお、上記特許文献1に開示されている技術は、スケールの飛散防止を目的とするものであり、半溶融状態となった金属素材が大気に触れてしまうので、スケールの発生は防止できない。

本発明の目的は、上記のような課題を解決するためになされたものであり、半溶融金属の鋳造工程である加熱・射出工程を単一の装置で一貫して行うことにより、設備の簡略化による設備投資コスト、製造コストを削減する。さらに、金属素材のスケール発生を最小限とすることにより、製品品質の向上を図るものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
以上のような課題を解決するために、本発明に係る半溶融金属の射出装置は、金属素材を収納する射出装置本体と、射出装置本体に収納された金属素材を押圧する射出ロッドと、射出ロッドにより押圧された金属素材が射出される射出口とを備え、金属素材を半溶融状態で射出して鋳型内のキャビティに充填させ、所望の鋳造製品を得るために用いられるものである。この半溶融金属の射出装置が備える射出装置本体は、加熱装置と、金属素材を射出装置本体に投入するための投入用蓋と、を備え、投入用蓋は、射出口を有し、固体状態で射出装置本体に収納された金属素材を加熱装置によって加熱することにより半溶融状態で射出し、金属素材の加熱・射出工程を一貫して行うことを特徴とする。
