Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to carnauba silicone wax, and more particularly to a novel carnauba silicone wax that does not contain free silicone oil.
[0002]
[Prior art]
With recent increases in the speed of PPC copying machines and printers, the demand for toner offset performance has become extremely high. In order to meet such requirements, conventionally, so-called carnauba silicone wax, which is a combination of carnauba wax and silicone oil, has been internally added to the toner. However, since the above carnauba silicone wax always contains free silicone oil that is not bonded to carnauba wax, if the carnauba silicone wax is internally added to the toner, the above-mentioned free oil is not included. Due to the action of silicone oil, there is a drawback that the toner tends to aggregate with time.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Accordingly, as a result of intensive investigations to obtain carnauba silicone wax that does not contain free silicone oil, the present inventors have made use of the hydroxyl group contained in natural carnauba wax and easily used the carnauba wax. The inventors have found that a silicone compound can be introduced, and have reached the present invention.
Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a carnauba silicone wax that is substantially free of free silicone oil.
[0004]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The above object of the present invention, silicone having a hydroxyl group natural carnauba wax contains, is reacted with a ring-like anhydride to introduce a carboxyl group in the molecule, can react directly to the carboxyl group group This was achieved by reacting a compound or hydrosilylating hydrogen silicone to a double bond introduced by reacting an epoxy compound having a double bond with the carboxyl group.
[0005]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The natural carnauba wax used in the present invention is collected from the leaves of carnauba palm. The main component in this carnauba wax is a hydroxy acid ester,
The melting point (° C.) is 80 to 86, the acid value is 2 to 10, the saponification value is 78 to 88, the iodine value is 7 to 14, and the acetyl value is 51 to 60. Such natural carnauba wax can be easily obtained from Hiroyuki Kato Co., Ltd., Noda Wax Co., Ltd. and the like.
[0007]
A first method for synthesizing the carnauba silicone wax of the present invention, which is substantially free of silicone oil, is a method of reacting a hydroxyl group of carnauba wax with a cyclic acid anhydride to form a carboxyl in the carnauba wax molecule. In this method, a group is introduced and then the introduced carboxyl group reacts with a reactive silicone compound. As the cyclic acid anhydride used in this case, succinic anhydride, maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride and the like are preferably used. The temperature at which the hydroxyl group reacts with the cyclic acid anhydride is preferably 50 ° C. to 200 ° C., and particularly preferably 100 ° C. to 160 ° C. In the above reaction, a solvent may or may not be used, but when used, an aromatic solvent such as xylene or toluene is particularly suitable. Moreover, it is preferable to use a tertiary amine as a catalyst.
As the silicone compound reactive with a carboxyl group, those having an amino group or an epoxy group as a substituent are suitable. The temperature at which the carboxyl group reacts with the amino group or epoxy group is preferably 50 ° C to 200 ° C, particularly preferably 100 ° C to 160 ° C.
[0008]
In the case of reacting an amino group, it is important to remove water generated from the reaction system using an ester adapter. Therefore, in order to remove the generated water out of the system, it is preferable to use a solvent having a boiling point of 100 ° C. or higher in the above reaction. It is preferable to use an aromatic solvent as such a solvent. On the other hand, when an epoxy group is reacted, a solvent may or may not be used.
[0009]
In the second synthesis method of the carnauba silicone wax of the present invention, a hydroxyl group in the carnauba wax is reacted with a cyclic acid anhydride to introduce a carboxyl group into the carnauba wax, and then double in the molecule. In this method, hydrogen silicone is hydrosilylated into a double bond introduced by reacting an epoxy group with the carboxyl group in a compound having both a bond and an epoxy group.
As the above compound having both a double bond and an epoxy group in the molecule, for example, allyl glycidyl ether, vinylcyclohexene epoxide, or the like is preferably used.
[0010]
【The invention's effect】
Since the novel carnauba silicone wax of the present invention does not contain free silicone oil, the toner does not aggregate over time even when it is internally added to the toner. Therefore, the carnauba silicone wax of the present invention is particularly useful as a wax internally added to the toner.
In addition, since the melting point of the wax of the present invention is as high as about 85 ° C. and is modified with silicone, it can be suitably used as a wax for cosmetics. In addition, it can also be used as a surface modifier such as car wax, a release agent for various uses, or a lubricity-imparting agent.
[0011]

[0012]
Example 1 .
1,100 g of carnauba wax having an acetyl value of 51 (corresponding to 1 mol with OH) and 1,500 g of xylene were weighed in a flask and dehydrated at 145 ° C. for 1 hour. Next, 95 g (1 mol) of succinic anhydride and 18.5 g (0.1 mol) of tributylamine were added at 140 ° C., and the reaction was allowed to proceed for 4 hours to introduce a carboxyl group into the hydroxyl group of carnauba wax. Next, 378 g (0.45 mol) of an amine functional silicone having the following average structural formula was added at 140 ° C., and the reaction was allowed to proceed while separating water using an ester adapter under reflux of xylene.
H 2 NC 3 H 6 Me 2 SiO (Me 2 SiO) 8 SiMe 2 C 3 H 6 NH 2
Since the theoretical amount of water was separated after 3 hours, the reaction was stopped, and then xylene was stripped under reduced pressure to obtain 1,520 g (yield 98%) of transparent carnauba silicone wax at the time of heat melting. When the melting point was measured by DSC, the melting point was 82-90 ° C.
[0013]
Example 2 .

Next, 438 g (0.45 mol) of an epoxy functional silicone having the following average structural formula was added at 140 ° C., and the reaction was performed for 4 hours under reflux of xylene. After 4 hours, the disappearance of the epoxy group was confirmed by infrared spectroscopic analysis.
ΩC 2 H 4 Me 2 SiO (Me 2 SiO) 8 SiMe 2 C 2 H 4 Ω
(Where Ω represents cyclohexene epoxide)
By stripping xylene under reduced pressure, 1,600 g (yield 98%) of a transparent carnauba silicone wax was obtained upon hot melting. When the melting point was measured by DSC, the melting point was 79-87 ° C.

Next, 95 g (1 mol) of succinic anhydride and 18.5 g (0.1 mol) of tributylamine were added at 140 ° C., and the reaction was allowed to proceed for 4 hours to introduce a carboxyl group into the hydroxyl group of carnauba wax.
Next, 248 g (2 mol) of vinylcyclohexene epoxide was added at 140 ° C., and the carboxyl group and the epoxy group were reacted at the same temperature for 3 hours. Then, once excess vinylcyclohexene epoxide and the catalyst tributylamine The solvent xylene was stripped off. Next, 1,500 g of xylene was newly charged, 4 g of 0.5% toluene solution of chloroplatinic acid and 660 g (0.45 mol) of hydrogen silicone having the following structure were added and reacted at 120 ° C. for 5 hours.
