この撮像素子9には、たとえば、CCD(charge coupled device) が使用される。

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a color imaging apparatus and a white balance correction method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
When viewing with the naked eye, the eye automatically adjusts to the ambient light and the color is corrected, so it is unlikely to feel unnatural, but with a color camera that performs physical photometry, it depends on the type of light and the type or degree of illumination The color reproduced by an image sensor such as a CCD changes.
A color camera faithfully separates the colors into three colors of R (red), G (green), and B (blue), and reproduces the color. Below, the color balance changes.
For this reason, in a color camera, it is necessary to perform color correction in accordance with the color temperature every time an image is taken.
For example, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 61-283295, a home video camera or the like is known which has a white balance adjustment function in order to perform color correction. This white balance adjustment function controls the gains of the R and B color signals to equalize the output ratios of the three primary colors R, G, and B.
[0003]
On the other hand, in video cameras for home use, the light transmittance is continuous in order to limit the amount of light in order to expand the dynamic range of the light amount control of the iris in the iris unit and prevent the diffraction phenomenon due to the small aperture. There is known an ND (neutral density) filter that can be inserted and removed between an imaging lens and an imaging element. By operating this ND filter, it is possible to prevent a diffraction phenomenon due to a small aperture and to prevent deterioration of image quality.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, for example, when an attempt is made to automatically control the insertion / extraction of the ND filter by a driving means such as a stepping motor, the amount of light incident on the image sensor is reduced while the ND filter is moving in the optical path of the color camera (at the time of transition). Because it changes, the white balance will change. Therefore, since the image quality changes while the ND filter is moving, the user is also aware of this.
[0005]
An object of the present invention is to provide a color imaging device and a white balance correction method capable of suppressing a change in image quality in a transition state of an ND filter without changing the white balance even during operation of the ND filter. And
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention is provided with an image sensor, a diaphragm for adjusting the amount of light incident on the image sensor, and an optical path of light incident on the image sensor, which can be inserted / removed at a predetermined speed in front of or behind the diaphragm. A light amount limiting filter that limits the light amount of light to the image sensor, a white balance circuit that adjusts the balance of the three primary color signals obtained from the image sensor, and an insertion position of the light amount limit filter in the optical path And white balance correction means for controlling the white balance circuit in accordance with the color signal and correcting the balance of the color signals.
[0007]
The white balance circuit adjusts the gain of a predetermined color signal.
[0008]
The white balance correction unit calculates a gain correction amount corresponding to the position of the light amount limiting filter and outputs the gain correction amount to the white balance circuit.
[0009]
The white balance correction means holds in advance a gain correction amount according to the position of the light quantity limiting filter for correcting the balance of the color signals, and the white balance circuit according to the position of the light quantity limiting filter. Output to.
[0010]
The white balance correction means detects a position of the light quantity limiting filter based on an elapsed time from the start time in response to a start signal of insertion or extraction of the light quantity limiting filter into the optical path.
[0011]
The present invention provides a color signal processing circuit that generates color signals of three primary colors from a luminance signal and a color signal output from the image sensor, and outputs these color signals to the white balance circuit, and the white balance circuit. And a color difference signal generation circuit for generating a color difference signal from the output color signals of the three primary colors.
[0012]
The present invention is obtained from the imaging element of a color imaging apparatus that is provided so as to be able to be inserted and extracted at a predetermined speed in an optical path of light incident on the imaging element, and that has a light amount limiting filter that limits the amount of light to the imaging element. A white balance correction method for correcting white balance of color signals of three primary colors, wherein the gain of each color signal of the three primary colors obtained from the image sensor is corrected in accordance with the insertion position of the light quantity limiting filter in the optical path. The white balance is constant.
[0013]
In the color imaging device of the present invention, when a light quantity limiting filter is inserted in the optical path of light incident on the imaging element, or when the light quantity limiting filter is extracted from the optical path, each color signal of the three primary colors obtained from the imaging element. The balance changes.
Since the white balance correction means controls the white balance circuit in accordance with the movement position of the light quantity limiting filter in the optical path to correct the balance of the color signals, changes in the balance of the color signals of the three primary colors are suppressed. .

In FIG. 4, the horizontal axis indicates the rotational position of the ND filter 13, and the vertical axis indicates the correction gain G of the R and G color signals.
In FIG. 4, the rotational position Xa of the ND filter 13 is a position when the ND filter 13 is completely removed from the optical path, and the rotational position Xd is a rotational position in a state where the ND filter 13 is completely moved into the optical path. is there.

When the operation of the ND filter 13 is turned on (step S1), an ON signal SN is input to the white balance correction circuit 25 (step S2), and gain correction in the

As described above, when the gain change up to the position Xd in which the ND filter 13 is completely inserted in the optical path is changed as indicated by the curve L in the figure, a captured image is obtained during the operation of the ND filter 13. It is possible to suppress a change in the color tone. .
In the present embodiment, approximation is performed by linear interpolation between the plurality of rotational positions Xa, Xb, Xc, and Xd of the ND filter 13 of the curve L as indicated by dotted lines.
In this embodiment, since the correction curve L is linearly interpolated, it is not necessary to store all the correction gain G data, and a large amount of memory is not required.
