【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、シリンダヘッドの燃焼面の冷却効率を向上できるシリンダヘッド冷却構造に関するものである。

【従来技術及びその課題】
シリンダヘッドの燃焼面が過熱すると、エンジンの停止や損傷といった問題の生じる恐れがあるため、エンジンの信頼性を維持できない。そこで、シリンダヘッドの内部に形成した多数の冷却水通路に冷却水を流すことによって、シリンダヘッドの燃焼面の冷却を行っている。一方、エンジンに要求される出力は増大してきており、それに伴って燃焼面の温度は上昇傾向にある。従って、燃焼面の冷却効率が高い新たなシリンダヘッド冷却構造が要求されてきている。

本発明は、シリンダヘッドの燃焼面の冷却効率を向上できるシリンダヘッド冷却構造を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明者らは、シリンダヘッドの冷却構造を鋭意研究する中で、次のような知見を得た。即ち、(1)燃焼面は、その全面が一様に高温となるのではなく、高温となりやすい部分とそうでない部分とを有している。(2)高温となりやすい部分を集中的に冷却すれば、燃焼面の冷却効率を向上できる。

図1はシリンダヘッドの燃焼面を示す図である。図3に示すようなバルブシート301を設けて排気弁30の周囲を強制的に冷却している構造のシリンダヘッド1の燃焼面2においては、最も高温となりやすい部分は一点鎖線で囲んだ部分20であり、該部分(以下、ホットスポットと称する)20は、2つの排気ポート31,32と燃焼面2の周縁21との間の部分である排気ポート間部22(一点鎖線で示す)の略中心部に該当する。なお、41,42は吸気ポートである。

【発明の実施の形態】
(実施形態1)
図2は本実施形態におけるシリンダヘッドの底面図、図3は排気ポートに排気弁が取り付けられた状態の縦断面図であり、図2のIII−III断面に相当する図である。図4は図2のIV−IV断面図である。なお、図4は一部拡大図も含んでいる。シリンダヘッド1の燃焼面2には、それぞれ2個の排気ポート31,32及び吸気ポート41,42がある。そして、排気ポート31,32と燃焼面2の周縁21との間の部分である排気ポート間部22の略中心部は、燃焼面2において最も高温となりやすいホットスポット20である。一方、シリンダヘッド1の内部には、多数の冷却水通路が形成されており、排気ポート間部22に面しては排気ポート間冷却水通路51が形成されている。更に、排気ポート31,32の周囲には、排気ポート31,32をそれぞれ囲む周囲冷却水通路61,62が形成されている。周囲冷却水通路61,62は、シリンダヘッド1を縦に貫通する縦貫冷却水通路71,72,73,74の内の近接している縦貫冷却水通路71,72からそれぞれ延びている。なお、排気弁30は、図3に示すように、排気ポート31,32に対して燃焼面2側から嵌め込み式となっており、周囲冷却水通路61,62は、排気弁30を嵌め込むことによって構成されている。

そして、本実施形態のシリンダヘッド冷却構造では、周囲冷却水通路61,62を相互に連通させるパイプ90が、排気ポート間部22に面する排気ポート間冷却水通路51の底部を直線的に貫通して設けられている。そして、パイプ90には、排気ポート間部22に面する排気ポート間冷却水通路51の底面511に向けて開口した1個の孔901が形成されている。なお、パイプ90は、銅又はSUSでできている。

図7は本実施形態におけるシリンダヘッドの燃焼面の拡大部分図である。本実施形態では、パイプ90を2本設けており、各パイプ90は、それぞれ実施形態1及び実施形態2における各パイプ90と同じに設けられており、その他は実施形態1と同じとしている。

図14は本参考形態におけるシリンダヘッドの縦断面部分図である。シリンダヘッド1の燃焼面2には、2個の排気ポート31,32が開口している。一方、シリンダヘッド1の内部には、多数の冷却水通路が形成されており、両排気ポート31,32の間には、排気ポート間部22に面する排気ポート間冷却水通路51が形成されている。更に、排気ポート31,32の周囲には、排気ポート31,32をそれぞれ囲む周囲冷却水通路61,62が形成されている。周囲冷却水通路61,62は、シリンダヘッド1を縦に貫通する縦貫冷却水通路からそれぞれ延びている。

請求項1記載の発明によれば、周囲冷却水通路の冷却水をパイプの孔からポート間冷却水通路の底面に向けて噴射することができるので、排気ポート間部に接触する単位時間当たりの冷却水量を増大でき、排気ポート間部ひいてはホットスポットの冷却効率を向上でき、従って、シリンダヘッドの燃焼面の冷却効率を向上できる。
