Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, and more particularly to a technique for preventing overheating and melting of a particulate filter disposed in an exhaust passage of a diesel engine.
[0002]
[Related background]
Exhaust gas discharged from diesel engines mounted on buses, trucks, and the like contains a lot of particulate matter (abbreviated as PM) in addition to HC, CO, NOx, and the like. Therefore, diesel particulate filters (abbreviated as DPF) that capture PM and incinerate and remove it with an external heat source and oxidation catalysts that treat HC and CO have been put to practical use as aftertreatment devices for diesel engines. Recently, an oxidation catalyst for supplying an oxidizing agent for oxidizing and removing PM is provided upstream of the DPF instead of an external heat source, and a continuous regeneration type DPF that continuously processes PM on the DPF has been developed. Yes.
[0003]
By the way, even in such a continuous regeneration type DPF, when the temperature of the DPF has risen to a high temperature just after the high load operation, the PM trapped in the DPF is heated and burned. Under such circumstances, if the engine shifts to no-load or idle operation immediately after high-load operation, the exhaust flow rate slows down, so the amount of heat removed decreases rapidly, and in the presence of oxygen. There is a problem that the combustion of PM is accelerated and the DPF is overheated and melted.
[0004]
Therefore, when the engine is in a no-load or idle operation state, the exhaust flow rate is reduced and the EGR amount is increased, thereby reducing the amount of oxygen supplied to the DPF and suppressing the promotion of PM combustion. Technology to prevent this has been developed.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, according to the applicant's experiment, even if the exhaust flow rate is reduced and the amount of oxygen supplied to the DPF is reduced by reducing the exhaust gas flow rate as described above, the DPF may be overheated and melted. Was confirmed.
Therefore, it is a problem to find out under what conditions such a DPF melt damage occurs and to prevent the DPF melt damage reliably.
[0006]
The present invention has been made to solve such problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an internal combustion engine that can reliably prevent melting damage caused by overheating of a particulate filter disposed in an exhaust passage of a diesel engine. An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust emission control device for an engine.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, according to the first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a particulate filter interposed in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine for capturing particulate matter in the exhaust, and an internal combustion engine using a part of the exhaust as EGR gas. An EGR passage that recirculates to the intake system of the engine, an EGR valve that adjusts the flow rate of the EGR gas, an exhaust flow rate reduction means that reduces the exhaust flow rate from the internal combustion engine, and a particulate matter captured by the particulate filter The particulate matter accumulation amount detecting means for detecting the accumulation amount, the filter temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of the particulate filter, and the EGR valve is opened when the internal combustion engine is in a no-load or idling state. and a control means for actuating the exhaust flow reduction means, the internal combustion engine is unloaded or idling In when in state, the amount of deposited particulate matter by the particulate matter deposition amount detection means is detected to be equal to or greater than a predetermined amount, and the temperature of the particulate filter by the filter temperature detection means is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature When it is detected that there is a control prohibiting means for closing the EGR valve and prohibiting a reduction of the exhaust flow rate by the exhaust flow rate reducing means.
[0008]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, the exhaust flow rate reducing means is constituted by an intake throttle valve provided in an intake passage of an internal combustion engine and an exhaust throttle valve provided in the exhaust passage.
Therefore, when the internal combustion engine is in a no-load or idling state, the EGR valve is opened and the intake throttle valve or the exhaust throttle valve or both throttle valves are closed to reduce the exhaust flow rate in the exhaust passage. The amount of oxygen supplied to the particulate filter is reduced. As a result, even when the particulate filter is at a high temperature, the particulate matter deposited on the particulate filter may be burned by reducing the amount of oxygen. It is suppressed and overheating of the particulate filter is prevented, but it is detected that the accumulated amount of the particulate matter is detected to be equal to or higher than the predetermined amount and the temperature of the particulate filter is detected to be higher than the predetermined temperature. Does not open the EGR valve and does not close the intake throttle valve and the exhaust throttle valve. Exhaust flow rate of the inner is maintained, heat the particulate filter by taking away of the cooled well, overheating of the particulate filter, melting damage can be prevented.
[0009]
That is, when the EGR valve is opened and the intake throttle valve and the exhaust throttle valve are closed to reduce the exhaust flow rate in the exhaust passage, the oxygen amount is reduced, while the exhaust flow rate is reduced and the heat is retained. Therefore, when the deposition amount of the particulate matter is not less than a predetermined amount and the temperature of the particulate filter is not less than the predetermined temperature, the temperature rise of the particulate filter proceeds. However, in such a case, the particulate filter is positively cooled by maintaining the exhaust flow rate in the exhaust passage, so that the particulate filter can be reliably prevented from being overheated or melted.
[0010]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, when the EGR valve is closed by the control prohibiting means and the exhaust flow rate reduction by the exhaust flow reducing means is prohibited, the internal combustion engine in an unloaded or idle operation state The engine rotation speed changing means for changing the engine rotation speed to the high rotation side is provided.
Therefore, when the accumulated amount of particulate matter is equal to or greater than the predetermined amount and the temperature of the particulate filter is equal to or higher than the predetermined temperature, the EGR valve is closed and the exhaust flow rate reduction is prohibited, no load or idle The engine rotation speed of the internal combustion engine in the operating state is changed to a high rotation side (for example, idle-up), the exhaust flow rate in the exhaust passage increases, the particulate filter is further actively cooled, and further It is possible to reliably prevent overheating and melting of the particulate filter.

[0031]
According to the exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine of claim 3, the particulate matter accumulation amount is not less than a predetermined amount, the temperature of the particulate filter is not less than the predetermined temperature, the EGR valve is closed, and the exhaust gas is exhausted. When the reduction of the flow rate is prohibited, the engine rotational speed of the internal combustion engine in the no-load or idle operation state is changed to the high rotation side (for example, idle up), so the exhaust flow rate in the exhaust passage is increased, The particulate filter can be more actively cooled, and the particulate filter can be more reliably prevented from overheating and erosion.
