【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an autofocus device for an endoscope used in medical and industrial fields.
[0002]
[Prior art and its problems]
For example, in a medical endoscope device, the imaging optical system can be switched between a normal observation state in which the entire observation object in the body cavity is observed and a magnified observation state in which a part of the observation object is enlarged. Devices have been put into practical use.
[0003]
In the normal observation state, since the focal length of the photographing optical system is short and the depth of field is deep, the in-focus state can be easily obtained. On the other hand, in the magnified observation state, since the focal length is long and the depth of field is shallow, the focusing operation becomes difficult. Specifically, in the current endoscope imaging optical system, the depth of field of the imaging optical system in the normal observation state is, for example, at least about 6 mm, whereas the depth of field of the imaging optical system in the enlarged observation state is about Is about 2 mm. Therefore, the manual focusing method places a heavy burden on the user and requires an autofocus device.
[0004]
Autofocus devices have already been adopted in the field of cameras including movies. In particular, an autofocus device for a camera using a CCD as an image sensor detects the contrast of an observation object image formed on the image sensor, and automatically moves the lens barrel in the direction of the optical axis of the lens based on the change in the contrast value. It is common to perform autofocus by stopping at a position where the focus is achieved.
[0005]
However, such an autofocus device of a camera detects whether the focusing direction based on the actually measured contrast value is the front or back direction with respect to the in-focus position, and based on the result, the lens barrel is A complicated mechanism for moving in the front-rear direction and performing focusing is necessary.
[0006]
However, since the in-vivo insertion portion provided at the distal end of the endoscope is inserted into the body cavity of the patient, its diameter is limited to about 13 mm at the current technical level, and the above-mentioned complicated It is practically impossible to apply an autofocus device of a camera having a simple mechanism to an endoscope as it is.
[0007]
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to obtain an endoscope autofocus device that can be easily incorporated into an enlarged endoscope device.
[0008]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
In order to achieve the above object, an autofocus device for an endoscope according to the present invention has an imaging optical system provided at a distal end portion of an in-vivo insertion portion having a movable focus adjustment element; A contrast detection device for detecting the contrast of the observation object image; a focus adjustment drive system for driving a focus adjustment element of the imaging optical system so that a contrast value detected by the contrast detection device is increased; a distal end portion of the in-vivo insertion portion Direction detecting means for detecting whether the moving object is approaching or moving away from the observation object; and when the movement direction detection means detects the movement of the distal end of the body insertion portion as the movement approaching the observation object, the contrast value by the contrast detection device is calculated. Without considering it, the direction of movement of the focus adjustment element by the focus adjustment drive system as a direction to focus on a closer object Focus adjustment by the focus adjustment drive system without first taking into account the contrast value by the contrast detection device when the motion direction detecting means is determined for the first time and detects the movement of the distal end of the body insertion portion as the movement away from the observation object. Initial motion direction determining means for initially determining the motion direction of the element as a direction to focus on a far-distance object .
[0010]
The endoscope autofocus device of the present invention preferably includes a mode selection switch for switching between a normal observation mode in which autofocus is not performed and a magnification observation mode in which autofocus is performed. Then, the movement direction detection means and the initial movement direction determination means are operated when magnification observation is selected.
[0011]
The movable focus adjustment element of the focus adjustment drive system may be a focus adjustment lens alone or may be formed of a focus adjustment lens and an image sensor on which an observation object image is formed by the focus adjustment lens. This focus adjustment drive system stops the drive of the focus adjustment element with the focus position immediately after the peak value of the contrast value detected by the contrast detection device. In this case, a slight shift due to a time lag may occur between the focus position, but such a small shift is included in the range of the depth of field of the imaging lens, which may cause defocusing. There is no hindrance to autofocus.
[0012]
The motion direction detecting means for detecting whether the distal end portion of the endoscope insertion portion of the endoscope is approaching or moving away from the observation object can be constituted by, for example, an acceleration sensor.
